Nolan should have had all the soliders end up back on the island of Ithica and then have it tip over.

Except it's not "everyone." Not even close. Rather, it's always - every single time - a very specific type of extremely online, culture-war-obsessed, right-leaning poster who makes being anti-woke a huge part of their online identity, to the point of needing to preach their anti-woke-ness, in overbearing fashion, on an Entertainment message board. I have zero problem with anyone else here, and for the most part I get along with just about everyone else. Sure, I'm passionate about the industry, and sure, some of us argue about dumb **** from time to time. But again, it's only ever extremely online, culture-war-obsessed, right-leaning folks who talk about me in the ways you do, get bent out of shape over me in the ways that you do, and hound me in the ways that you do. That's not me being a narcissist, that's me perceiving objective reality. Beyond that, I've explained myself and my motivations to you numerous times already over the past few days, and you're simply choosing not to listen. Which is, sure enough, yet another common trait of the handful here who always give me *****

How have I talked about you? How am I 'bent out of shape' over you? How have I 'hounded you'? Give examples of any or all of the three from my posts on this thread.

Is replying to your posts 'hounding you'?

You've criticized my general demeanor and replied to me with some form of "quit being so dramatic" ten-or-so times over the past 48 hours. The receipts are right here...

All of which started with this…

Not sure if TCTTS is a paid shill for Christopher Nolan, or just a poster who really likes to say "I told you so!!" and rub it in when he thinks he's right.

Sprinkled among all of that, you've posted verifiably false info after verifiably false info, re: how reviews work, how the Academy diversity rules work, etc, along with all kinds of aforementioned negative-leaning social media slop.

Basically, you showed up here a couple days ago, rehashed a bunch of **** that has long-since been settled, and haven't done anything but gleefully post negative nonsense about a movie you haven't yet seen, critiquing me numerous times in the process. All while doing the same old, "What? Me? I'm just here to discuss the movie. You're being so dramatic!" schtick guys like you always pull.

When did "gaslighting" become a thing? 2020? What a nonsensical, madeup word.

I've found that my feelings towards the word is often met by unimaginative people telling me that my response is the very definition.

The movie still was not good.

Well, constantly accusing people who reply to your posts with being 'obsessed with you' is being dramatic by definition.

Yes, I did post that 'paid shill or really likes to say I told you so' reply, and you said you like to rub it in when you're right. I don't have a problem with that, I just thought you going overboard with it was a little amusing.

Where did I post about how the Academy diversity rules work? Link the post. And link the actual post, don't post a profile link to posting history, that's lazy, and undermines your claim. If you can't support your claim with actual links, it sounds to me like you're either confusing me with someone else (or multiple people on here due to your persecution complex), or you just generalize all people you disagree with as having the same viewpoint.

Fine, I can accept that, but my larger point still remains… that simply isn't Nolan's objective at all, and the proof is all throughout the movie.

And I'll throw out a dumbed down aspect of this...one of my issues with this is that the younger generations are so mis-educated and ignorant that they will watch this and think it's historically accurate that an Indian and a black guy were Greek in Ancient Greece. It plays into the overall degradation of western culture however innocent one might think it is.

I'd be with you on this point… if the story were actually historical in nature.

But it isn't. Sure… it's an ancient story… but it's not history… it's mythology.

The vast majority of the time I would not make this argument for a fictional story, but I would argue that since it's considered a foundational, culturally significant piece of work that that it resides in a category between actual history and pure fiction.

I also think this doesn't change my point that many uneducated younger people will look at this regardless of it being fiction or non-fiction and just assume the ancient Greeks were a multi-race and multi-ethnic society.

I just don't understand where you are getting this assumption from? It's like worrying that they will think the events in Disclosure Day are real or that their toys come to life when they aren't around. People understand entertainment isn't real…

If anything the younger ones are far more skeptical of what they see than older generations, in my anecdotal experience.

First of all, just a small note... I've been posting on this board for 22 years, where, yes, I spend the vast majority of my time on this site. But it's mathematically impossible that "almost all" of my 64,583 posts A) occurred over the "last few days," and B) were "on this thread" / about this movie. That would require me to either be psychic or a time traveler, both of which I am not. Maybe try retyping that sentence.

Second, given the context, the post of yours below clearly indicates that you believe "woke" casting = awards qualification, which has been discussed here ad nauseam and simply isn't true, re: the "consideration" requirements. Never mind the bat**** insane tweet below the screenshot, which you posted here a couple days ago. Granted, it's not Academy-rules-related in nature, but it's certainly adjacent, and makes it beyond obvious what your ridiculous, fever-dream views are on this subject...

I'm extrapolating from fact that our education system has been polluted with social justice / CRT nonsense whose sole purpose is to destroy western ideology, the scientific method, western classical education, and the basic definition of objectivity.

I'm not going to die on the hill on this thread that most young people will walk away from this particular movie thinking there were brown and blacks in Ancient Greece, but I guarantee you some will because they aren't educated or miseducated by the crap that's been introduced into our educational system.

I'm really just highlighting the degradation of our education system and how we can no longer depend on it to counter the hijacking of history. If we keep injecting races into history where they never were (even pop culture entertainment), at some point that becomes how things were if you don't have a grounded backdrop from an unbiased and fact based educational system.

Well that feels like a conversation for another thread.

I think general audiences are smarter about entertainment than you are giving them credit for but I guess there is no way to prove that point other than this movie being a success and Supergirl and Moana being flops.

this film left a lot to be desired. was more good than it was bad, but the shine of Nolan is dulled by this one. not even sure this makes my top ten for the year, will be close.

I also saw someone mention Barry Keoghan, who would have been good too, especially considering he was in Dunkirk. Though, in kind of the same role. Ultimately it was such a bit part, I don't know that it required a bigger actor.

I think those two movies are just bad movies though. I have zero desire to see Moana but will stream Supergirl out of curiosity.

Late to the conversation about the hypothetical that young people think there were black or asian people in ancient greece: I'd be more concerned that they think the fantasy story with monsters is real history.

Do you not understand the difference between "award consideration" and "qualification"?

He's Saying the virtue signal will get him higher consideration. He didn't say it qualified the movie for awards.

Either way he's wrong. Do *you* not understand it makes no difference? It's the same basic sentiment. Never mind that it was literally the most off-handed mention I made in that post, and he of course addressed nothing else.

Do I need to tell you what time period 'the last few days' covers?

So I said they made casting decisions for award consideration, that says nothing about qualification. You clearly got me mixed up with someone else, and instead of admitting your mistake, you're trying to make this stretch fit your argument. That's weak.

I don't see how a Greek voicing what bothers them about the film makes it 'bat**** crazy', but you do you.

Are you really going to take the position that putting woke, left-wing material into a movie DOESN'T make it more likely to receive awards? Of course it does. That's a reality as sure as the sun rising. If that's your contention, then it's a lie, you know it's false, and you have negative credibility.

How do you know someone isn't Greek?` They're trumpeting Homer Pavlos' Tweets as the gospel of what Greek people think. Homer Pavlos spends most of his time tweeting about how much he hates Muslims, Turks, much of the rest of Europe, and homosexuals. You might share those views, and if you do, more power to you for freedom of speech, but the guy is constantly declaring that a war is coming that will wipe out Turkey, and restore the great Greek Empire (pictured below). He's sort of like the Kanye West of Greek Twitter. Yeah, he says something memorable once in a while, but then you start listening to him and suddenly he's talking about admiring Hitler and suddenly you feel like you need to unfollow as fast as you can.

See, now you've changed it to "left-leaning material," which, of course Hollywood favors. But we're talking specifically about CASTING in this instance. And considering four of the past six Best Picture winners featured all-white main casts, no, cast diversity doesn't mean **** in terms of awards consideration, be it official consideration or not.

The cast is part of the material in the film. A diverse cast that is only diverse for diversity's sake is per se left wing material in a film, and it absolutely matters for awards consideration.

First off, here are the two answers to your sure-to-come sarcastic questions.
1. Dude, how long did you waste working on this? 35 minutes
2. Jesus, you must have nothing to do. Well, first off, that's not a question. But you're correct. I've been sick for 5 days with a fever and cough that are making sleep difficult. And the Astros are terrible, so that is freeing up 3+ hours of free time a day.

So, I've been dabbling in writing a screenplay, and although this forum can get a little rough, I wanted to post an early draft here.

It's a three-man play wrapped in the shroud of mystery of an Internet message board. It's inspired by the Stephen King novel "The Dark Half" which I read as a teenager.

SYNOPSIS: An Internet poster feels like he might have a stalker getting too close for comfort, but is the stalker being stalked himself?

DRAMATIS PERSONAE
RQRRV: A regular on the website dedicated to Gonzaga University (GonZags.com).
Rick Dalton: Another regular on GonZags who often gets in "online tussles" with RQRRV.
Sideyard Boa Constrictor: A mysterious newcomer to the threads that RQRRV and Rick Dalton frequent.

Act I
RQRRV and Rick Dalton get into a heightened argument over a new movie put out by an American film master, Michael Bay, called "Transformers 8: Optimus Prime Has Syphilis". The rhetoric, back-and-forth, and name-calling get out of hand, particularly when it is announced that Kaitlyn Jenner will take over as Soundwave and that the Autobot Jazz, played by Scatman Crothers in the cartoon, will now be voiced by Kathy Griffin.

Act II
Rick Dalton suddenly vanishes from the Internet and isn't seen for 14 hours. Posters are worried. Did he get banned? Did he boldly go outside and actually "touch grass' like the soothsayers advise? GonZags is crumbling under attacks of review manipulation and Twitter bots. There are heroes on both sides. Spam is everywhere*. Suddenly, an unfamiliar poster arises in the confusion. Sideyard Boa Constrictor. He takes aim at RQ and levels post after post belittling him. RQ retaliates by posting 371 times in 2 hours.

Act III
Rick Dalton suddenly returns to the forum with … apologies? Insight into the film? Easily relatable humor in the form of a Tweet and a GIF that can be enjoyed by all? Over the next 3 hours, Rick and RQ make amends and agree to cosplay as Skywarp and Thundercracker at next year's ComicCon in Spokane, unaware that true Transformers' fans think those two are a gay couple. But then, Rick suddenly vanishes again. A few hours later, the Boa Constrictor returns, tightening his proverbial coils around RQ's skeletal structure, made soft from the lack of seasons in Southern California. Then comes the chilling cliff-hanger, when Dalton says that he remembers "RQ telling Rick Dalton that Dalton WAS 'obsessed with you.'

WAS

As in the past tense.
Because Rick Dalton is dead. A casual stalker at best, who vaguely knew RQ's home town of Zahramay Falls**, Dalton has been infiltrated and disposed of by the sinister Sideyard, who didn't like how easily Rick was letting RQ off the hook and decided that the only way to trap him, is to become him, which I know is the tagline from the Face/Off trailer, but pretty much makes my point.

* = Here's to you, BES
** = If you get this reference, congrats on being a girl dad and I share your pain of how bad that show was.

Just watched it. Here are my thoughts.

Loved the adaptation and the spin put on it. Wasn't perfect but it did not feel like it lasted 3 hours. No issues with any of the characters. Weren't all A+ but collectively an A. I thought the modern language didn't take away from the story. It was definitely different at times but I didn't hate it.

I was worried about the non-linear story telling but I was able to keep up with it. Some of his previous movies have been more difficult to follow but not this one. John Leguizamo was actually one of my surprising fav characters.

The beginning and middle actually didn't feel slow at all to me but that was just my opinion. The last hour was fantastic.

I thought the music was well done for this movie. I've been a huge Hans Zimmer fan as well as a big fan of Ludwig Goransson. This movie didn't need much and allowed the story telling to bring you along versus the music being the biggest part of scenes.

Favorite CN movie? Nope but it's in the top 3 for me.

Saw it this morning in IMAX 70MM….third row, center of the row. .

My thoughts:

- really enjoyed…..much, much more than I thought I would.
- Ellen plays a boy…she's believable as a boy…it works.
- Booger became a very solid actor.
- Cyclops was not historically accurate….eye was cocked 45 degrees.
