I could not care less about winning a stupid ass culture war. Especially as someone who is essentially caught smack dab in the middle of the two cultures (being from Texas and living in California).

I'm here to enjoy looking forward to movies/shows, and then enjoy talking about movies/shows after the fact.

So when people show up here with no other purpose than to inject culture war nonsense/negativity into thread after thread, all I do is merely push back / reject it. Here is a case where only a passing knowledge of Homer's work helps with Nolan's movie. Did what I just watched really convey Homer even with the modernization? No idea. As such, I enjoyed the movie. It was beautiful to look at, the acting was good, and the sound was incredible. Almost too incredible, as I felt like my seat and entire body vibrated for all but about 10 minutes of the film's runtime.

Especially seeing as the VAST MAJORITY of people who have seen the movie now - on BOTH sides - agree that it's either not woke or hardly woke in any meaningful way.

That said, I don't mind saying that I don't think better casting would have helped this movie get any better than 5/10. So I don't really want to hear about wokeness as it really wasn't the biggest problem.

The actors did what was asked of them, which honestly wasnt much. CN doesn't seem to try and push his actors. He is comfortable with them. Visuals are far more important than performance.

Sure, that would likely be how it plays out in a dark comedy. He tracks you down in your hometown, which he figured out by AI scanning your TexAgs posts, comes to confront you and you accidentally kill him when he attacks you. Maybe you have no choice but to club him in the head with a Daytime Emmy award you won, your first and so-far only "major" Hollywood award that you keep on your mantle. It means so much to you that you just can't bear to get rid of it, and in the end its Cliff's dried blood on it that seals your fate.

Because if they would have waited until after the movie, instead of making a feast out of a nothing burger for months on end prior to the movie, we could have avoided all of this nonsense altogether, as many of us said over and over again in the lead up.
