I think people don't really understand how Rotten Tomatoes comes up with it's scores. 96% doesn't mean it's awesome. It could just be ok. It's just that 96% of reviewers thought it was ok. In the case of the TexAgs reviews, I think RT would count those mixed reviews as positive, giving it someone closer to 96%. If you were to think of it in terms of grades, it means a passing grade. So 96% passed. That doesn't mean they all got A's.

I agree with the last act being damn awesome. It's basically the only reason the movie ends up being a worthwhile watch IMO. It's good enough to make up for the previous hour or so.

Honestly you could lose the entire Cersei sequence, cut way down on some other scenes, and lose at least 45 minutes. The pacing is what really drags the movie down.

This isn't true. The all audience score is at 87%. Verifying your ticket through your email prevents people from negative bombing a movie without actually seeing it.

Yep, lol. I'm sure she probably did like the movie (assuming she saw it), but she clearly has a personal interest in sticking it to all of the "conservative chuds" who were ranting about the movie.

As for her oh-so-deep argument about the Sinon/ Achilles debate, she misunderstood what Gore was saying. Gore simply made the point that instead of including Achilles in the story Nolan instead used Sinon for that part since Sinon better served Nolan's thematic purpose. So yes, in that sense Sinon was a replacement for Achilles. She should stick to being nekid with a lightsaber.

Not that I think this is an "abomination" or deserves fake ratings of 1, but based on all the (real) reviews I've read, something in the 5-7 out of 10 range does seem to be on point. The 10's are cope and glazing, the 1's are just angst. The less sensational truth is a decent but not great Nolan flick. I'll be surprised when I see it if I find it lower or higher than that.

I love this take about a story that exactly zero people would ever read if it wasn't forced on them in a high school English class.

I think you can be a normal, contemporary American who read the Iliad and Odyssey in school and want them to be adapted in a way that kinda fits how you imagined them when you read them. That sucks. The Odyssey is a Greek super hero/slasher/horror story. The ones to skip were The Sound & The Fury and Things Fall Apart. Those stole hours of my 17 year old life that I wish I had back.
