Well, I guess if you and a few others have nothing to offer other than the same repeated points about DEI and casting, then complaining about how triggered everyone else is if they reply, blocking is an easy solution.

I'm an eternal optimist that likes to think most people will have something constructive to contribute so I prefer not to block folks, other than the idiot that started sending me harassing DMs a while back.

But I've also agreed with him plenty of times and said as much. I don't live to get TC riled up, but some of his posts do need pushback, and I'm one of the ones who doesn't take his constant bullying too seriously, so it's all good. This board is supposed to be fuuuuuun.

This movie will make $1 Billion in sales just from the people that will buy a ticket just so they can **** on it on SM.

I will always call out these kinds of things in movies, shows, or any other entertainment I care about. Might as well add me to that list! You and I will both be perfectly fine, if you do. Trust me!

You are so condescending man. I'm not sure why you feel the need to reply to me the way you do. Just disagreeing with you doesn't make someone an idiot.

Stop watching movies and TV if you think all of Hollywood and every director is just apart of the pattern. If you can't separate individuals and their decisions from the monolithic boogeyman Hollywood then I guess that's the best solution.

For those of us who understand nuance and can see that not every casting decision or creative decision is made by committee and to fall to some perceived political pressure, it's not that confusing of a request that I am making.

Well...based on X last night and this morning, a TON of people are just watching it on their laptops already lol. Tends to happen when movie ticket prices are already pretty high and your marketing makes people feel like they "aren't having the proper experience" if they don't drive to an IMAX and shell out MORE money.

I agree with you on that but like....shouldn't you say that to the guy who does that stuff constantly to like 30 different people? Just because you agree with his opinions doesn't really make it right.

This to me seems like the kind of movie you'd want to see on the big screen if for no other reason that big epic kinds of movies are cool experiences on the big screen.

If you just want to watch a crappy recorded iPad version then knock yourself out, but if he does absolutely nothing else Nolan makes really visually stunning stuff that's worth seeing in better than potato phone quality.

I might see it in standard at some point, it makes me cringe to give my hard-earned money to movies like this, but I do also like local movie theaters staying in business.

For me, knowing there will be some Nolanesque grand shots doesn't really make up for all the stuff I'm expecting to make me cringe, but it's whatever. I went into Napoleon about 90% sure it would let me down and I survived, and also stomached a literal antifa propaganda flick to witness a few cool scenes.

It's amazing the mods didn't think of this idea sooner - every crazy argument smashed together in one thread and just let them go at each other for page after page while the rest of TexAgs enjoys a little peace and quiet.

I looked over available tickets at Santikos and it does appear the IMAX and AVX showings will sell out but the standard format screens have only sold a few seats so it does appear everyone is being steered towards the specialty screenings.

This thread has 3000+ posts and 250,000+ views. What does that tell you? It tells me that a lot of TA regulars check the thread 2-3 times a day for a chuckle over the latest epic round of the TC/Cliff battle royale.

I give them credit. Over the years on the infamous F16, I have seen some arguments go on for days, but nothing like this. Not even close. These guys have staying power.

What can I say? At times, the Entertainment Board is in fact, entertaining.

I would've preferred to see it in IMAX but the distance + fixed time school pickup - 3 hour movie formula forced a closer theater.

At least I know they've got a great old fashioned.

This is what I miss about the R&P board from 15 years ago. Arguments that would go for miles.

But this thread is no less argumentative than some of the franchise ones. Maybe people just expect that out of Star Wars or marvel fanboy culture though. This is more of a high school English class argument turned up to 11.

Nothing in particular, I'm just ready to see this movie so I can actually have an opinion about it.

This is so good, and seems to walk the line between both sides of the argument here.

Spoilers for the book, and for the opening of the movie, but man, this guy explains exactly what Nolan is doing with Page's character, along with some other stuff, and it's all pretty brilliant.

Also?

He initially wasn't a fan of the castings either, hates woke **** in movies as well, etc. In other words, this isn't some Hollywood liberal - he looks to be a historian or scholar of some sort - and is just so effusive in his praise, but in a way that feels earned / thoughtful / well-articulated, and not like hype…
