Well looking this up just spoiled the movie a bit for me, so thanks for that!

I wouldn't recommend looking up who the character is if you aren't familiar, but its clear the role the character will play in the story/psychology of what Nolan is doing.

I swear some of you guys are just circling some dark drain internet algorithm that doesn't want anyone to enjoy anything anymore.

No need to get bent out of shape and resort to your usual litany of personal insults, TC. I am interested in eventually reading your full review. Seeing a lot of more honest ones the last few hours has been intriguing.

Are all of those ratings final tallies after the public audiences weigh in? If so I imagine The Odyssey will settle in a bit lower than the 98%

That's how algorithms work. It's why some of y'all swear that EVERY CRITIC AND AVERAGE JOE are saying it is Nolan's best!

the casting of page is just such a voluntary shot in the foot and a blatant FU shot across the bow to mentally stable and reasonable humans across the globe

It's what I've been saying this entire time. It makes the scenes she's in seem like a community theater production shot on IMAX film.

If I go to a local community theater production of a play, the audience participates in the endeavor by basically playing "Make believe" with the actors because they only have so many actors they can cast roles from, and so much ability to design sets, etc. We know what we're getting into.

When we're watching a big budget Nolan movie, we expect more gravitas and movie magic. We are expecting a fantasy tale that is grounded, because that's what Nolan seemingly is wanting to present to the audience. We are expecting to truly be transported to this world we are being presented. This isn't meant to be a parody or lighthearted fun movie like Dungeons and Dragons. Then, we get a scrawny woman in a scene and are told this is a man. Sorry, that takes me out of the entire experience. It's shocking and is a complete unforced error. But, you will still have the shills on this board who fall back to the standard: "It's just a movie, bro!"

Okay, then we will criticize said movie for portraying something in a ridiculous way.

Stop lying about the things I'm saying.

And stop making it sound as if my "personal insults" are somehow worse than the endless **** you talk about me in return.

I'm not saying that. I'm seeing it tonight and will have my own thoughts.

Also I don't have social media so I'm not in any algorithm there…

But can you not see you are as trapped in your algorithm as you are accusing others of being?

Are the ratings aggregated over time? Wondering if maybe they were originally high, but now that people have gone back and re-watched highly rated movies, they've downgraded them because they consider themselves more evolved now, so anything they liked back then sucks in comparison to whatever they like now.

I'm not necessarily a fan of his. I just think he generally has chemistry with actresses I've seen him opposite of.

Kind of, except a lot of the Nolan glazing does still get through my algo on X. Some of the reactions on my algo are "this movie is **** because it isn't good movie making" and some of them are "This movie isn't good because I'm racist". I know how to tell the difference. I wish some people with the Nolan fanboy algo could tell the difference between genuine reactions and paid/compelled shilling.

100%. It's simply baffling that a guy like CN would stoop to that with his resume. Who's asking for it? What value does it add? It's like the companies that proactively dip into trans stuff and voluntarily alienate giant portions of their customer base because they think they need to check off some invisible checkbox that no one was asking for them to check. If you don't do it, you risk nothing. If you do do it, you immediately alienate a large portion of your customer base....as in, they won't even give you a shot because you offended them so much.

It's just a complete wtf from me there. I can stubbornly get onboard with some of the other unforced casting errors that aren't end of the world, but it's simply a slap in the face with page's casting. It's just more elitist bs coming from hollywood blowhards that think everyone outside their bubble are just uncultured plebs.

You could show me 10 different cellphone recorded shots of different scenes of Dunkirk and I'd understand, OK this would look and sound cooler on a big screen, but also this movie looks badass! Phone recordings aren't making this movie have bad color, bad writing, and poorly cast characters with bad dialogue.

Literally the highest rated movie of Nolan's career, and one of the highest rated movies of the year.

I'm sure the haters will keep bringing the cope, saying these reviews are somehow all "shills," wait until "real" people see it, yada yada yada, but this has already blown up in their faces, and I'm not going to let them forget it.

Is this accurate?!

The Prestige at 76% is criminal. Rises and Dunkirk both better than Prestige and Interstellar! What!? And Rises = Inception. Make it make sense!

I honestly like The Prestige the best out of all. Truly boggles me how it's that low on RT. I never knew!

I actually liked Batman Begins better than the other two in the trilogy.

I don't typically care for DC/Batman...but Batman Begins reeled me in to those three. It was a really good movie, with an interesting story...not just a comic book flick.

The Prestige at 76% is fairly understandable for me. It's a dark movie and I can see why it isn't for everyone. It's ranked lower on my personal Nolan list and is one I never really care about watching again.

Interstellar is definitely a divisive movie, from what I've seen in the zeitgeist. It's one of those movies that the TexAgs ET board tends to absolutely love and hold as a masterpiece of filmmaking. I also find it to be a movie I love more with each subsequent watch. I believe I would have rated it around and 8.5 on my first viewing. Now, it's my favorite Nolan movie and one of my favorite movies of all time.

Thanks.

Some of us miss what Hollywood used to be. And what movies used to feel like. And when they didn't make such artificial virtue-signaling DEI casting decisions. Most others around here seem to think Hollywood is at it's peak or something. The divide on this is about as great as the current political divide in America.

The little I have seen released from this movie has me pretty concerned that it's going to be the first CN movie in a long time that just didn't appeal to me at all. Whatever, not a huge deal in the grand scheme ot things, but worthy of commentary on an entertainment board. Hope I am wrong...but that scene with Elliot Page almost looked fake, it was so bad. Worst casting decision I have ever seen...I don't say that lightly...it's borderline shocking. WTF is Nolan thinking? I don't care if she came to him crying and begging for a role that would make her masculine...no effing way, give her some money, be there for her as a friend...don't put her in an eye rolling hyper absurd role.

I have to assume it's a running score over time as people review it. Perplexing.

Here are the IMDB ratings for same movies and is much more accurate IMO and why I stopped paying attention to RT many years ago. IMDB is a much better reflection of movie quality and shows what I had in my mind - Dunkirk, Insomnia, and Tenet at the bottom of the list.

I left movie titles in order of ranking that RT has them so you can see below where Dunkirk and Insomnia are higher at RT than at IMDB.

TBD The Odyssey
9.1 The Dark Knight
8.4 Memento
8.2 Oppenheimer
7.8 Dunkirk
7.2 Insomnia
8.4 The Dark Knight Rises
8.8 Inception
8.5 The Prestige
8.7 Interstellar
7.3 Tenet

You're literally posting on an online forum, dedicated to those who love movies, TV Shows, music, and other forms of entertainment. Moreso, you're posting on a thread, in said forum, dedicated to a specific movie.

Why do you care so much?

Uh oh... be careful there. Apparently, having basic observation skills and being able to see that Hollywood is virtue-signaling with DEI casting is ITSELF virtue-signaling, according to some yahoos.

Don't try to understand that logic. It is complete idiocy.

If you see a Spoiler Alert line you could just avoid reading the rest of it and not watch the attached vid. I don't think that actually spoiled anything we haven't known for a couple of months though, tbh.

Apologies if you actually didn't know what role Page plays and what they were shown doing in several trailers.

Let me help you. It's really not that hard. Quit acting like you don't like arguing or have issues with people when you have a simple fix for it:

You consistently mock me, make fun of me, talk **** about me, put words in my mouth, and take jabs at what you perceive to be my place in the industry. All the while acting like you're saint and above me. You gaslight to the extreme on this board, and when challenged, all you ever do is feign ignorance and tell me to "relax." You may not be the spawn of satan, but those are, objectively, the actions of miserable person. Combined with your desperate need to stamp every page of this thread (and many other threads) with something that goes far beyond your opinion - and is rather an endless campaign of negativity - I've ****ing had it with the way you treat me and others on this board. It's that simple.

I am making no such sweeping statements about Hollywood. I honestly don't care about Hollywood. I really just follow whatever filmmakers I think make interesting movies. I don't think anyone here would argue Hollywood is at its peak.

It doesn't have to be an us vs them, giant divide thing on the thread. You and others just continue with the conspiracy theories and narrative making when it can just be a decision you don't like for this specific movie.

I mock the tone you use and your over the top reactions to people you differ with, and I genuinely think you use your position in the industry to try to be some kind of guru/mod on this board and it really isn't like that, but that's all, I don't think you're any of the 1000 names you've called me in the last week.
