I probably shouldn't say this, but... it's legit eerie how much that actually looks like me. Like, to the point where I'm convinced AI scraped the internet and somehow connected some old profiles/accounts to come up with that likeness.

That said, I would never in a million years wear a shirt with my handle on it, especially in Texas/College Station. If only because, if a certain type of... individual saw me in it, I'd probably either get pelted with food/drinks or jumped.

Hell, when A&M played UCLA at the Rose Bowl in 2017, before we infamously blew that lead and Sumlin's fate was sealed, a bunch family and friends and I went to a bar in Pasadena pre-game. The place was filled with Aggies, and I was at the bar ordering drinks. Some dude around my age started talking to me as we were waiting, and was telling me what all he'd done since he'd been in town, was asking me the same, etc, and I said I actually lived there. He then said he "went the TexAgs party last night," said it was fun, then asked me if I ever go on the site. I stupidly said I did, but didn't say anymore than that, yet somehow, someway a connection was made that I still don't understand. Because, like, 30 minutes later, as I was leaving the bar with family and friends, that dude, who was close to the door, and four or five other people, literally started chanting "T-C-T-T-S" as we walked by. All with smiles on their faces, like they had figured out who I was. It was so ****ing weird that, to this day, my parents still bring it up, wondering what the hell happens on this site.

At one point this thread was annoying the hell out of me, but I've since reached acceptance. I can't look away now.

There's no hole dug. Like I said before, NOT behaving on a movie message board like a paid marketer for a studio is ok. You were never going to have a level-headed take about this movie. You were going to invent strawman arguments to feel like you're dunking no matter what.

I'll post more in the spoiler thread, but just back and really enjoyed it.

It's definitely long (and probably could've been shorter) but the pacing overall was solid, and as others have said the third act is awesome. All the performances were great and surprisingly John Leguizamo was one of the standouts.

For all the Page controversy they fit the role perfectly, had I not known it was a thing I wouldn't have thought twice about it (and might have had 5 minutes of screen time). There's zero chance that role was supposed to be Achilles at any point, the character's history was central to part of the story. And I have no idea what the "woke" content might be other than the casting, didn't bother me as this is an adaptation of a myth rather than some exact existing story.

I wouldn't say it's my favorite Nolan, but it's a great summer blockbuster and worth a theater viewing if it's your cup of tea.

I don't have to invent anything to "feel like I'm dunking." Facts and reality are doing that for me.

thanks for the review. After reading some more reviews, I'm just going to hit the standard theater, rather than wait weeks for IMAX. If everyone was unanimously saying it simply has to be seen in IMAX, then I'd hold out. I can't wait that long though.

To be fair, CN seems like a pretty loyal guy. I could see him not even entertaining it so as not to hurt Elliot Page by addressing it and potentially creating even more of a stir. Gender dysphoria is very real for many...and she is pot committed. If he entertains that notion and it blows up even more, could hurt her feelings, and I bet they are friends to some degree. Prob didn't want to put a bigger target of controversy on her.

Anyone calling Dunkirk a terrible film immediately loses all credibility. There are reasons one might not have liked the film or been entertained by it, but it's objectively an amazing piece of cinema just from a technical and aesthetic standpoint. It contains some of the coolest shots and sequences in any movie ever.

Saw it, loved it.

Page is distracting in the same way it would be distracting for James Earl Jones to play Princess Leia, but well-acted throughout by everyone else. I don't understand people saying how wooden or whatever they say about Damon, he was great. Lupita might have been on-screen 3-5 minutes total. So what.

The sights and sounds are amazing. Sets were amazing. No issue whatsoever with hearing dialogue. I think someone said above that they didn't know who people were, but names of each important character are stated plainly, wasn't lost at all.

The first act did seem long, but was setting the stage. My wife had no idea about any wokeness arguments and wasn't affected by any of the casting choices and she loved it.

This one should be in the top half of Nolan movies for sure. I would argue that it's top 5.

Haters gonna hate. Anyone read the Odyssey lately (and loved it) and know how to write a screenplay or direct a movie?

Comparing it to Dunkirk is not the negative flex that person seems to think it is. Dunkirk is a fantastic movie.

To be honest, for a big budget Christopher Nolan movie, I am a little underwhelmed by the reviews here on Texags so far...which I personally trust more than most other outlets, but YMMV.

And I am sorry, but the unforced error of casting Elliot Page for a minor role out of charity or whatever, just dumb. It's bad enough that some people who originally had no issue with the rumors, actually had an issue with it...she's tiny and the acting is horrible. Use CGI to actually make her look like a man (and not 5'1" at that) if you have to do this as a favor for her so that she won't fall into depression or harm herself or whatever.

I really think CN likely did this purely for her and not the audience. Not how you should make movies.
