I don't think the issue is that Nyong'o is black, the issue is that she's unattractive bordering on ugly.
If they had cast Beyonce' as Helen, do you think you'd hear a complaint about her skin color?

That's the great irony here.
One of the most Christian-coded blockbusters ever comes along, and certain so-called "Christians" rage against it because of a couple of minor casting choices that hardly even register while actually watching the movie itself.
The movie is basically a Trojan horse for traditional/Christian values, and a bunch of culture-war-obsessed pearl-clutchers are so consumed by their endless *****ing and moaning that they can't see the forest for the tress.
Tolerance isn't a Christian value.

As true or as gray as that sentiment may be, you're still making a subjective judgment call on who/what to tolerate. You're pro-actively deciding what YOU deem to be wrong/evil - and thus what to tolerate - and then act as if it's a righteous action based on God's ruling/judgement, when it's actually your own.
Not to mention, a number of posters here express their intolerance in some of the most repugnant, least Christian ways I've ever seen. One would think a Christian, while of course called to "hate the sin," so to speak, would at least treat the "sinner" with more empathy/love than many here do. As opposed to the hate, disgust, and gleeful mockery many here indulge in.
And look, to an extent, I get it. The worst of the trans community is just as bad in the opposite direction, and are absolutely worth fighting, shouting down, etc. But not all of them. Not anywhere close. Especially if it really is a mental disorder that they're suffering from, considering that's not something any of them asked for. That right there is cause for empathy first, then adjusting accordingly based on how "militant" they are in views, re: transitioning kids, insisting that "men" can get pregnant, etc.
Either way, intolerance of the sort you're speaking about doesn't have to translate to "being an ******* on a message board." Especially considering a number of people here clearly support "Christian values" while being some of the worst representatives for Christ imaginable.

This part of his post
The entire movie is rooted in what Nolan terms "Zeus' law." That law is: "Treat others as you would want to be treated, because anyone might be a god." Now, clearly, there's nothing like that in Greek mythology. It's not implicit in Homer. It's a direct rip from Biblical morality, substituting "because anyone might be a god" for "because man was made in the image of God.
is complete hogwash. Sure it is paralleled with Christian beliefs but the Greeks absolutely had their own belief that "anyone could be a god" so treat strangers with hospitality.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenia_(Greek)
The idea that this is some specifically Christian coded is a tenuous assertion at best unless Nolan specifically comes back to say that was his intent.

Dude, where it the "hate" directed at Elliot Page on here? Or trans people? By and large, it's just people mocking the absurdity of the casting decision. SHE'S A 5'1" FEMALE. She does not look nor sound like a man. IMO, this was obviously either (a) a DEI hire, or (b) a loyalty hire...or killed both birds with one stone.
I think a lot of people feel sorry for those with true gender dysphoria....which is vastly different from people like the "It's MA'AM" dude...who seem to get off acting out their fetishes of cross dressing like women and making as much of a scene as possible. But I would hate to have a condition where my brain is convinced I am a member of the opposite sex...or where I just couldn't at all be happy in my body or own skin.
If you're asking us to never engage in poking a little fun at people ever, you're asking men to stop being men on the golf course, on hunting trips etc.
When I encounter trans people in the real world (almost never - but happened to me twice at a department store recently), I treat them with nothing but love and respect. I want to make their day happier. But that doesn't mean I leave the place believing that person is a woman, or thinking they would be great in the next Rocky Balboa movie.

Lol... fortunately, I don't entertain non-believers when they try to use Christianity or Christian tenants or Christ's teachings to try and throw things in our face. Every Christian is first and foremost, a sinner. To then point at Christians and say, "See! You Sin too!" is basically redundant.
"Tolerate" means we aren't grabbing weapons and killing or destroying people who practice evil things. It doesn't mean we should participate in sin or delusions, or condone either. It also doesn't mean we should be silent, In fact, we are specifically commanded to do otherwise: Ephesians 5:11: "Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them."
It is literally a fundamental tenant of Christianity to tell others they are sinful and deserving of eternal damnation. It's literally the reason for Christ's sacrifice and the core of Christianity.
Calling out sin =/= Judgment, in the biblical sense of the word
Celebration of sin =/= tolerance
Also, claiming that Nolan's Odyssey is Christian-coded is a huge stretch, at best. You can find analogies and meaning in just about anything, if you're looking for it. I don't look to Ben Shapiro or random TexAgs posters to tell me about Christian beliefs, doctrine, or faith.
BTW, I didn't start the Christianity discussion, so your standard eye-rolling when it's brought up would be hilarious to see.

Are you talking to me, re: the bold?
Because if you had actually read my post, you'd know that none of these claims you're directly and indirectly ascribing to me are actual claims that I made.
You're just ranting and raving, per usual, as any nuance goes right over your head.

He does this on literally every movie/show that he likes, or that he feels he needs to defend, because he "works in the industry," whatever that means. Everyone else is wrong for not agreeing and he will dig his heels in and outlast you. I gotta say, his dedication and stamina is downright impressive. Also, most people have jobs or better things to do, so it's really hard to keep up, so he always thinks he "wins," which just encourages him to do it again.
And again.
And again.
And again...
People with lives have no chance against fanaticism like that. It's downright impressive and almost religious fervor, which you have to respect. I know that personally I'm not good enough at this game to keep up.

I own a production company with three partners.
We specialize in development.
We don't need an office, so I work from home, reading, writing, giving notes, creating pitch decks, and taking zooms/calls.
Thus, seeing as I'm sitting in front of a computer for a sizable chunk of the day, I treat F13 as my water cooler / break room / next door cubicle.
In my spare time I'm also slowly building/relaunching an old entertainment database passion of mine. Part of which requires keeping track of industry news/trailers basically all day every day.
To that end, TexAgs keeps me accountable. Being someone who provides updates/trailers here helps me keep my own efforts updated as well, helps me to always know exactly what's going on in the industry, etc.
Also?
I simply find the fervent anti-wokesters to be just as much of a cancer as the extreme left wokesters. So, when I'm here, and constantly have to navigate over-the-top anti-woke bull**** in thread after thread after thread, I push back. Again, I find it satisfying, and hearing you say "I'm not good enough at this game to keep up" is music to my ears.
Finally, despite your dig, I do indeed have a life. A pretty great one, I think. I'm pursuing my passions, out here having new experiences and meeting new people all the time. I stopped sharing most of my celebrity encounters here long ago, but a number of people we talk about on this board are also people I meet with, zoom with, work with, and have beers with in real life. Beyond that, I couldn't have asked for better friends out here or family back in Texas.
In other words, nothing you guys say affects me in the least, personally. It's when your nonsense gets in the way of the rest of us wanting this place to be somewhere we can look forward to movies, talk about movies, and celebrate movies, without the usual suspects incessantly *****ing and moaning and virtue signaling about "woke" in every nook and cranny of this board.
