I for one think Fallout holds that distinction but, yeah, Dead Reckoning was a blast
Same, Fallout is just so freakin' good. Cavill was the perfect villain and the bathroom fight (among others) is epic.

And Powell is an interesting choice, I can see it.

I love how the trailer ends with Cruise looking into the camera and basically saying, "You can trust me, this is going to kick ass. Get your butts to the theatre again"

Can't wait to see his pre-movie speech like he did for his last two films, thanking everyone for going to the movies.

I think I've said this before on TA, but I feel that he and Nicole Kidman are in some sort of unspoken competition to see who can remain a movie star. She is in damn near every movie that needs an over 50 actress. And Cruise keeps going bigger and bigger with his latest films and remains movie star status. I wonder if deep down they have some sort of competitive rage going on with each other.

It is going to be difficult, but I am nearly certain that Ethan Hunt will not survive. This will be a Daniel Craig send-off for Cruise.

I still contend that Fallout is the best action movie of all time. Dead Reckoning falls short of it.
Fallout is my favorite. I'll see how DR stacks up.

For fun...

Rank them in order of worst to best. My opinion,

#7 MI2
#6 MI
#5 MI3
#4 MI4 GP
#3 MI5 RN
#2 MI6 Fallout
#1 MI7 DR1

This is one of those series' that got better with each movie. It is hard to admit that the first MI is ranked #6. That movie was fantastic and it was the start. However, that is a testament of the greatness of the sequels.

I believe adding the death of Ilsa made DR > Fallout. My opinion.

It would be nice to get McQuarrie to do a Star Wars trilogy!!

Only ever seen the first (which I loved) and MI2 (which I did not love). I guess I need to watch the other ones to catch up

He actually did some script writing on Rogue One, he's also mentioned in the past that toxic fans cured him of wanting to do a Star Wars film.

Well I guess I'll try to be surprised when I get to that part of it.

From Jeff Sneider's newsletter tonight...

Paramount will release Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning on May 23, 2025 - but if you think this is going to be the final Mission movie, think again.

Even if this is, in fact, Cruise's last outing as Ethan Hunt, he'll find a way to continue this franchise and be heavily involved as a producer. In fact, he's rumored to have already hand-picked his successor - Glen Powell, whom Cruise took under his wing on the set of Top Gun: Maverick.

Once Powell wraps J.J. Abrams' new movie next year, his schedule will be wide open, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him join the IMF and choose to accept the most impossible mission of all - replacing Tom Cruise on the big screen.

As if on queue.

Powell is a solid choice since I doubt he can pull off a British accent good enough for Bond. He'll have to turn off some of his charisma. I thought Jeremy Renner would have been perfect at one point, but that door probably closed a while back.

Glenn Powell is a hell of a lot better choice than Hawkeye, that's for sure.

Bond?

Yeah. Let's get real, MI is the American Bond. Probably some gross generalities, but tons of similarities. The main difference is the Bond charm, which I think Powell has lots of and think he would fit that role better. Except for the whole super Texan/furthest from British you could be thing he has going on.

Might seem absurd, but he reminds me more of Roger Moore Bond than Tom Cruise Ethan Hunt. I know he'll play a different character, but as the lead he'll still be expected to be laser focused and serious.

Y'all are focusing on the wrong part. I'm not saying he should play Bond, I'm saying I don't think he should play the replacement of Ethan Hunt.

There are 3 potentially huge replacements coming….

James Bond
Ethan Hunt
Jason Bourne

I'm in! I'm about the same age as Cruise, I wish I could still run like he does.

Greatest movie franchise of all time.

Cruise: hardest working actor of all time.
