Midsommar. Couldn't finish it.

I've seen the movie and read the book so many times that it doesn't scare anymore, but the Shining is classic horror.

Looks like there is a highly edited version streaming. Not sure what that will be.

If you wanna go the disturbing route, #1 is easily Irreversible.

We watched about 20 min of a Serbian film and shut it down. Knockout punch....

We also got halfway through inland empire and that horrified her. Nightmare fuel. Appreciate the suggestions all.

Honestly can't believe you made it that far. I've never seen it but I've read the "plot" and I feel like I would have to scrub my skin completely off to feel clean after turning that on. Did you Google it before you started it or go completely blind?

I love horror and would not classify that as horror at all.

As far as actual movies that were scary to me
Event horizon
Sinister (best jump scare ever)
Exorcist
Late Night With the Devil (not really scary but enjoyable and interesting)
The Ring (although this may just be because the only time I saw it was opening night at the theater and no one knew anything about it)

Just read the plot to A Serbian Film. WTF. That is just completely deranged.

I remember that pain. I grew up near College Station and going to games. I was so excited to pull tickets for all my freshmen friends (We were all in a fish dorm) and get to take them all to their first game. And then we fell so flat on our face against Arkansas St

We go into all of them blind. No spoilers. I regret taking that path on Serbian film. I may have been gratuitous in us making it through 20 minutes, but I'm not going to go back and watch to timestamp when we noped out of it.

Azrael was pretty good for a horror flick with next to no dialogue. Post rapture movie starring horror vet Samara Weaving (Hugo's niece - horror comedies Mayhem, The Baby Sitter, Ready or Not, etc. ).

This one wasn't a dark comedy but it was efficient, bloody, and we'll done for an indie horror IMO if you're looking for something recent.

Wow your wife is tough! My guess is she's just immune to phony horror flicks. Try a different angle and go with a spooky picture based on facts. Amityville Horror and Legend of Boggy creek. I still won't sit through Amityville Horror and Boggy Creek is still embedded in my memory like it was yesterday. Good luck! and remember to turn the lights off!
