Just finished The Gate of the Feral Gods. Loving this series but this book needed some editing. The underlying story arc for this level with the Quitzelplik ghost was damn confusing and I still don't really understand it.
And then at the end when they were discussing bounty hunters and crawler markets and how those worked the description was completely contradictory. And then Donut points out that hunters can also get bounties. Well, no *****....that's what bounty hunters are. It's in the name.
Anyway, onto the next one.
I don't recall bounty hunters or the crawler market descriptions being contradictory. I recall them being pretty straight forward.
Donut's comment was because they had only ever talked about bounties being a crawler vs crawler feature. Most crawlers don't go after other crawlers, so there wasn't as much worry. Hey comment is just to point out that the hunters would likely target them first.
Well, it was specifically called out in this one that level 6 is a hunter level with two different merchant models. Outside parties provide loot from crawlers they kill to tourists in one at the Desperado and then crawlers sell loot online using a kiosk. And the bounty hunters are explicitly referred to as different than crawlers.
Also, in book one Donut had/has superior intelligence than Carl due to her class and Carl was really more of the tank. But at this point Carl is Admiral Thrawn combined with Macgyver levels of intelligence, strategy, and ingenuity. That seems to be totally contradictory to how this started considering Carl hasn't been putting points in Intelligence.
Regardless, I'm quibbling over minor crap that ultimately doesn't matter as I love the series.
