I thought Sawyer would be a big star. Never understood why it did not happen for him or Riggins from Friday Night Lights given every woman who watched the shows loved them.

Benjamin was co-lead on Person of Interest which ran on CBS for about 5 seasons.
Terry O'Quinn has always had steady work, before and after the show.

Yeah, uh, how did you miss that? She has been in 3 Ant-mans and was in Endgame, the #2 movie of all-time, plus the 3 Hobbits, and The Hurt Locker. She's also a fairly successful children's author.

I think you're also missing the larger point that most ensemble shows don't have everyone go on to be massive stars. They're mostly really good character actors or people who can play a type really well. And a lot of the people on the show were already pretty famous before it started - Matthew Fox from Party of 5, Dominic Monaghan from LOTR, Harold Perrineau from Oz and the latter two Matrix movies.

Plus Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia) was in Avatar and has been in the Fast and the Furious franchise before and after.

Maggie Grace was in Taken 1-3. She was in Fear the Walking Dead for 4 years.

Terry O'Quinn (Locke) was already in his early 50s when Lost started, and had been in Tombstone, Young Guns and The Rocketeer and Primal Fear.

Josh Holloway (Sawyer) is definitely the mystery of the group. Feel like he was always being pitched for the role of Gambit in the X-men

Its great to have LOST back on netflix. I started rewatching it for the first time since I saw it originally years ago on a couple cross country flights last week and will put one on while I have my coffee in the morning. Just watched the S2 premiere this morning

They were so great at cliffhangers.

Also I forgot what its like to have such hefty seasons. 25 hour long episodes in S1 alone.

I'm curious what the show would look like if it aired today with 10 episode seasons. We'd lose the fluff like Nikki and Paolo, but I don't think they could have gotten nearly the character development they did in that amount of time.

There were so many great payoffs.

Yes, we did have to deal with episodes like Jack's tattoos and Bai Ling.

But for all of those, we get Hurley and the van, which was so well worth it.

It was such a different (and honestly better) time, that could never exist today.

My favorite is yet to come, when Sayid, while handcuffed, does that crazy ass move and snaps the Other's neck, followed shortly thereafter by Sawyer killing Mr. Friendly in cold blood.

I love Lost. It's number 2 behind The Wire. I did a rewatch last year and loved it just as much as when it aired live. I know people hate the ending, but I thought it was great and was better the second time I watched it.
so what were the answers to all the questions?

what was the smoke monster

were they all in purgatory

what was the flasback parallel lives in the last two seasons

in the midst of a rewatch myself. Loved Hurley and the van. I yelled out loud when he went Breaking Bad (before there was a Breaking Bad!) on the Other when they were rescuing Jin, Sayed and Bernard.

Here's the only advice you need. Watch it for the characters. Do NOT watch it for the mystery. There's some tremendous storylines regarding the characters past and personal growth. They do get their hooks into you good and deep on the mystery of the island, and there's some good stuff there, but...well, just watch it because of the characters. And I say this as someone who has Lost as one of my all-time fav shows.

Such a payoff.

The original van episode never exists in TV today.

But what we went through that, and it was honestly with it.

My wife and I LOVE Lost. Still top 5 for me.
I have three kids, when is too young to introduce them to this masterpiece? Not only from the fear factor but will they even "get it"....

RIP Tricia Tanaka

From IMDB trivia:
Quote:

The song "Shambala" by Three Dog Night that plays in the Dharma Initiative van was also playing in the flashback to Hurley's childhood when his father is working on the car. The song refers to an ancient mythical kingdom of Shambhala that was part of Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The Kingdom of Shambhala is seen as a paradise whose reality is spiritual as much as it is geographic, which gives it many parallels with LOST. The lyrics to "Shambala" refer to a situation where kindness and cooperation are universal, joy and good fortune abound, and psychological burdens are lifted, a goal (but not the reality) of the Dharma Initiative.

My girls and I are 14 episodes into Season 2, about to meet Henry Gale for the first time. I don't think either of them will be fooled by his "I'm not an Other bit" but we'll see. The last episode, "The Long Con" with Sawyer getting access to the guns with Charlie as his foil is absolutely brilliant on rewatch, as Sawyer literally tells us the audience as well as Cassidy in the flashback what a Long Con is while he's pulling one on her and pitting the Islanders against each other.

I remember the first time I watched being a little iffy on the Tailies (Ana Lucia, Eko, Bernard, Libby) but really enjoyed their part this time, especially the island showing their POV for the first 40+ days in the span of 43 minutes.

Speaking of Charlie, don't remember him being quite this much of an A-hole before. He's really awful for a stretch here.

The scene where Mr. Friendly has the Others "light it up" to suggest they have the 815ers surrounded remains a favorite of mine, as does seeing Sawyer telling Friendly "You and me ain't done, Zeke" true to his words when he guns him down next season.

Seeing it from the viewpoint of a kid who thanks to the deaths of Boone and Shannon is not sure at all if anyone is safe on the show is really cool. My girls are both terrified of Mr. Friendly given all they've seen is him on the boat taking Walt and him being 50 steps ahead of them in the jungle.

My only disappointment is we never furthered the plot of what I felt then (and now) to be one of the show's most bad-ass closing scenes, Jack asking Ana Lucia how long it would take to train an army.

In all these years, I've never heard a single soul say they did not like Hurley. Even on the island, he was universally loved. (Except perhaps for the one episode actually called "Everybody Hates Hugo" where he worries his job of cataloging and protecting all the food in the hatch will make him Public Enemy #1, but nobody could stay mad at him.)

Because I dislike a character? Ok. Enjoy it a lot otherwise, especially since getting the tip to focus on the character development instead of the island mystery.

Well that isn't the only reason I dislike him, I just find him incredibly annoying and completely useless. Claire and the Korean woman are honestly the only likeable people to me at this point in the show. Again, I am on S2E1 or E2. I like locke but i wouldn't trust him for anything. Can't figure out where the Colonel moniker came from with him early in S1. Delusions of grandeur? Maybe I missed something.

Prior to watching this show I knew absolutely nothing about it, besides knowing it was about people on an island. I honestly had no idea it was much more of a character study with a mystery subplot than just an island mystery, which I do think makes it more interesting. This is the first show in a long while my wife and I have actually stuck with.

When she inevitably falls asleep at night before me, I switch over to Preacher, which I am quite enjoying.

Hmmm, well if you're still enjoying it enough to continue watching despite disliking most of the characters then more power to you I guess, lol. Its just odd, as I've never come across anyone who not only disliked Hurley but also didn't like Jack.

Charley was really the only one who was just so much of an ass that I disliked him and kind of deemed him unredeemable until near the end of his character arc.

Sawyer's a d-bag but he's hilarious and fun to watch.

This early on in the show you still have a LOT of mystery to unlock about the character's backgrounds and motivations. The writer's do such a good job of making them all relatable and sympathetic to some degree through their personal flashbacks.

They all have redeeming qualities, I just don't find them particularly likeable in a lot of instances. Jack is a good character, but something about some of his actions rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, he probably adds the most value to the group, and I understand why he took the leader role and people turn to him, but I still find his arrogance in some situations off-putting. Typical surgeon, am I right.

Honestly I am glad my wife and I are going in to this completely blind because it makes it very enjoyable. We have been watching an episode per night and it is definitely a highlight of our evenings as we crush a pint of protein ice cream from our ninja creami, which is probably the best invention known to man.

I'm not trying to poo poo on people's beloved show, just posting my opinions of the characters. Honestly kind of surprised I enjoy it as much as I do.
