Cannot think of one. My local theater has a dozen screens. There has not been a damn thing worth watching all summer. Why does Hollywood suck so much?

Hollywood has been dog**** since 2017 or so when those idiots all became woke nazis

OP, I'm legit curious what movies, in your opinion, from the past would be worth watching if they were released this summer?
Isnt 2025 going to be pretty rough? We won't see the full impacts of coming out of the strikes by summer, at least on the big screen, right?Quote:
I've said it before and I'll say it again, but 2025 and 2026 will absolutely be a return to form, in the best way. We just have to get through the rest of this admittedly down year.

(The streamers will do better, bc they are more nimble).
But with the shuffling dates that's still happening, Summer 2025 is probably going to end up being rougher than 2024, right?
I didn't list those…..they weren't considered "hits" but also weren't terrible either….hph6203 said:

2019 is largely considered one of the best cinematic years in history, for both awards movies and blockbusters, but okay. Covid then hit two months later, followed by the double strikes last year, both of which have been a massive challenge to come back from. But sure, we'll go with "woke nazis," despite having personally seen some of the best blockbusters of my life over the past three years, in the form of...
- Avatar: The Way of Water
- The Batman
- Dune: Part One
- Dune: Part Two
- Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning
- Oppenheimer
- Spider-Man: No Way Home
- Tenet
- Top Gun: Maverick
.. along with a ton of great dramas as well.
So sad, indeed!

Look….i ain't exactly high on Hollywood….like….at all…..
But come on man there's been way worse years for summer than this….
1997 for example….
Had several good summer films like Men in Black, Air Force One, Face/Off, and Con Air…..
But also had:
Jurassic Park The Lost World
Batman and Robin
George of the Jungle
Contact (I like now as an adult)
Spawn
Speed 2 Cruise Control
Out to Sea
Goodburger
Gone Fishin'
Airbud
There's been way worse in the 90s…..
Damn guess the Italian Renaissance wasn't that great after all. Stupid ItaliansAggieOO said:
Summer of 1526 was probably worse. Zero films released.
Idk if its because I was in college and had $4 tickets at the BCS Cinemark, but I really liked a lot of those movies.double aught said:
Summer 2010 was pretty bad. Inception and Toy Story 3 were the two gems and then not much else.

Was the Avatar sequel actually good? Or was it just another showcase of special effects with a thin plot like the first?

If Matthew McConnohay (crap I can't spell that from memory either) was an Aggie there'd be at least one active thread on this board about how cool he is…..
Honestly he seems like a good down to earth guy who just happens to be alumni from our rival school and he doesn't annoy me in the slightest….
Course the Aggie in me did get a good chuckle when this happened…..he didn't say "fudge"
