There sure is a lot of facial hair on these guys that work on location out in the oil field.

The only shaving happening is lawyers, ex-wife and daughter.
Two of those I would like to assist with the shaving.

The real question is.....Which two?

If they wanted another oilfield death, did they really need to put the project lead jumping up and down on top of the tubing stack that's was not properly stacked acting like a child?

They could have easily set up something that was realistic.

Also, the crew driving off when Cooper's living quarters are 50 ft from the truck. How about beating him up in another location. Is writing that hard now a days.

This show is just like Yellowstone; it is over-the-top dramatic for no reason and is not believable. This is just another soap opera for men. Billy Bob's dialogue, if you can call it that, is just a series of one-liners and zingers.

My wife will keep watching, but I am pulling the ripcord and bailing.

Taylor Sheridan is going to ruin himself with over saturation of bad writing.

Someone said he's Tyler Perry for white rural people. They aren't in it for the great writing.

Damn dude, I just did the same last night. I mean I guess it's entertaining but I feel dirty after watching. The writing is so bad. Who the heck did they retain as a legal consultant? I'm sorry but, the legal stuff…from the oil and gas to this weird "oil and gas attorney" who lives on site with the "petroleum engineer". So the oil and gas attorney is now writing up settlement agreements with surviving family members?

The cringe factor on this show is off the charts.
Well…you sounded taller on radio.

You're not wrong, I feel the same and will also keep watching, for now. Yellowstone was fun for a while but I eventually stopped watching, it just stopped being fun. Mayor of Kingstown had a similar issue as well. The novelty can wear off quickly and they can fall into bad plots that go too extreme too quickly. Landman is 5 episodes deep now and already showing signs of his other shows getting out of hand in a hurry. Granted I understand this day and age that's what they have to do to keep the average viewer hooked.

Same here, I am thoroughly enjoying this show...but the writing isn't on the same level as Sicario 1 and 2/Wind River/Hell or High Water. It's somewhere in between Hell or High Water and Tulsa King for me.

I love hot and spicy. I am a green sauce guy. The red sauce served at some of the taco joints around here is just unbearably hot. If they were smothering the food in something THAT hot I could honestly understand his reaction. But that seems like cruel and unusual punishment, or prank behavior to me. All that to say, some of the red sauces (and green at times) out there are no joke. EVen most latinos probably use these very sparingly, if at all.

So, now that both of "my" episodes have aired, I can tell it publicly that I was an extra or "background" on this show in 2 different scenes. I had to sign an NDA & couldn't talk about it prior to release.

My first scene was when Ali Larter (Crazy ex wife) and the daughter confront Billy Bob and the Lawyer in the bar, then have drinks together. I was at the table next to them.

The second time was this past weekend's episode (Episode 5). You mostly see the back of my head and a side shot or two but I'm the younger of the two gentlemen wearing a cowboy hat at the confrence table. If you are looking at Jon Hamm, over, under, or around a cowboy hat, thats the back of my head. I had to sit dead still while they did that.

A few things: Billy Bob Thorton was pure gentleman to me every time I was around him. We had to re-shoot the bar scene for reasons I wasn't privy to. He's also hilarious in person and nice guy to everyone.

I didn't "meet" Jon Hamm, we just exchanged "knowing nods" as he sat at the table. However, it was a Master Class in acting watching him ready himself for his lines, then deliver them.

If you're a fan of the show, I highly recommend that you listen to the podcats "Boomtown" by Christian Wallace. about actual events related to the show.

As an actual Landman myself, I will say that, Yes the show is a lot of over the top drama. However, a crazy Ex, driving 300 miles in one day, landowners (Cartel) that don't know what they own/don't own......100% accurate.

my biggest complaint is the trope of

Side character: "this is crazy! you can't do that!"

main character: "hey, don't you know we are in [setting of the show]"

it's such a lazy writing cliche, especially in Taylor Sheridan shows. I mean ****, the first episode i think at least 5 charecters have said some iteration of "that's how it is in the patch!"

I had a friend that worked as an extra a few times in the 90's.

What does that pay these days?

I was wondering where I knew the crazy ex-wife (Ali Larter) from. She was one of the original "heroes" from the show Heroes back in 2006.

Thanks all, it was fun but the hours are legit. Counting driving time, I was awake for 24 hours on the re-shoot.

It not "hard work", like landscaping or construction, but the hours are long.
The scene with the drive through coffee place (based on a real place btw) they asked for volunteers with trucks. I didn't go but later some of the guys told me that they didn't wrap until well after 4am, & thats after shooting the bar scene all day.

Oddly enough though, the Jon Hamm scene was completely done in about 6 hours, total. That was a good day.

As to my user name, I'm an O.G. of something else. Can't talk about it here.

Money/Payment etc I won't talk about publicly, but you are welcome to PM me.

No big deal. Just curious. I think my friend got $80/day for being an extra on Rushmore but it's been 30 years or so.

I'm still in just see Billy bob kick the fat Mexicans ass when he finds out he nearly killed junior. Or maybe junior is dead.

But yeah don draper is a goner feeling his pulse on the private jet. Demi will 100% take over and after Darcy and Demi have some intense screen time they will bond over wine or some sh-t and it will be cringey but we will all watch.
