Them trying to sell that Cooper grew up in DFW, went to Tech and can't handle Mexican salsa is a joke though. But those minute, cheesy details are an easy price to pay for Ali Larter & Michelle Randolph.

Yeah ... of course some of the specifics of working in the oilfield aren't accurate. But he is doing a great job of portraying these critical industries like ranching and O&G in a mostly sympathetic light.

Which is pretty darn rare.

I worked in O&G in the Permian Basin. The one thing cracking me up is everyone wearing cowboy hats. No, that's not real.

Edit

And also the old petroleum engineer looking like a rough neck. I knew a few pet-Es. They did not look like that at all. Stayed in the office for the most part and looked at seismic data most of the time and other reservoir plots.

Spent only a single year in O&G in Midland and never once saw a landman physically drive out to a well head or rig…

Let alone saw one walk up to an active blowout and close a line.

ETA: I did get my ass chewed out by a company man for wearing my pipe dope covered boots in his trailer though. Lol. First day.

Looked it up. It is the Resort Golf Club. It's NW of Fort Worth.
