Dude, no one is "mad" or "irritated at people that think she is attractive". We are simply giving our thoughts on a subject on a thread on a messageboard. Not everyone who disagrees with your thoughts is doing so with this malice or fury or angst or whatever you so often seem to ascribe to them.

I never said anyone was acting with "malice." That's you twisting my words. I simply commented on this weird trend, across multiple threads - Spider-Man, Dune, and now Challengers - where people feel a constantly need to let everyone know that they don't find Zendaya attractive. Whether anyone finds her attractive or not, I could not care less. It's that it always comes with this implication that because she's not hot, she's not worthy of any given role, or all the attention she receives, or an audience's time, etc, and that's all I'm pushing back on. You expressed an opinion. I expressed mine in return. Deal with it.

I think lots of straight men have felt psy opped into thinking she's hot. Whether or not this has actually transpired, who knows.

I do not get the interest in zendaya. She is about as milquetoast and unappealing as you can get. Hell, even Florence Pugh is more attractive than she is, and that is saying something.

Ok, let's not get crazy now.

Ok, so Capy finally admitted on this thread that he's a troll. At least we can put that to rest.

I believe the only person I've deliberately tried to provoke is TC. I couldn't tell you why either. And I do feel somewhat bad about doing so, as he seems to use this to benefit his career in some way.

But don't expect much more of me in the near future, or maybe beyond then. I'm soon to put my nose down and focus on some other projects that will require me to minimize, if not eliminate, my online presence.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it psyop but it definitely feels like gaslighting and completely manufactured.

All joking aside, she'd be way cuter if she put on a few lb's and was just more wholesome in general.

You don't have to say "almost". That's exactly what she is. That's what makes this movie a weird watch for straight dudes. I saw five more attractive women than her on my last Target run.

I'm with TC on this in theory, my favorite actress is Frances McDormand who has to be one of the least attractive female leads this century. The bigger thing that puzzles me with Zendaya is that I have yet to see her in anything where I was impressed with her acting chops. So in the eyes of some you have a mediocre actress who is also not drawing people based on her attractiveness, I can see why people are confused at her being arguably the most popular young actress in Hollywood.

Didn't say she's hideous, nor am I "mad" at you. TC, you always seem to read some enraged tone into any response that differs from yours and I don't think it's usually there. Movies or aspects of movies tend to annoy me, at most, I can't think of a lot of times where I'm actually pissed at a movie or you for liking one more than I would.

My point though is just that she's miscast here. I guess they're just going for name recognition and a trending actor (don't get how she's trending), but if a studio was honestly sitting there thinking...we need someone who looks like they might be good at tennis AND someone who multiple male tennis stars would fall in love with and possibly have conflict over, it's just weird that they'd pick someone who literally wouldn't turns heads walking through a college campus. Not saying she's super unattractive, not saying she can't act, just a weird choice for this particular role, for ME. Out of the last 15-20 years of Hollywood "it girls" of the season, she's definitely in a small collection of ones I don't really get, but it's whatever.

Am I wrong? You visit a Target in a nice Texas burb and if you can do 5 laps around it and not spot a woman more attractive than Zendaya each lap, I'll mail you a dollar. Point being, she's not a believable "dudes fighting for her attention" star.

To be fair, the reverse situation happens all the time. I recall a certain Adam Sandler movie where he had to choose between Jennifer Aniston and fcking Brooklyn Decker.

That's a fair point, but he's a comedian, kind of different. Also I know some IRL dudes dating/married to girls way out of their league partially because they're funny. Women dig funny, goofy, confident guys. But in most rom coms they're going to go with a guy who believably might have girls fighting over them.

These studios aren't picking based on hotness. They're picking based on who puts butts in seats. Zendaya does, and they had to pay her $10M to do it. The movie probably doesn't even get made unless she, specifically, says yes. It's a numbers game, and nothing more.

That said… it's kind of crazy how convinced you are without actually having seen the movie first (though that's par for the course on TexAgs). Because A) she's 100% believable in it as a female tennis phenom. She practiced/trained relentlessly, and absolutely pulls that aspect off. She's honestly more believable than either of the two guys. And B) while, again, I generally agree with everyone that she's not traditionally hot… this is the definitely hottest she's been on screen. There are multiple scenes not in the trailer - that probably couldn't be in the trailer - that caused me to reevaluate somewhat in that regard.

Consider this my final one for some time. Aren't you the guy who had more than half of a thread deleted because you were "offended" by its contents? This inability to handle digression to this extent, pathetic.

I watch a lot of Dateline and 48 Hours etc. and am constantly amazed at what many people with pretty average or below average "hotness levels" can get people to do. Sometimes with multiple partners all far more attractive than them. The heart wants what the heart wants. Sometime folks want to fight over a rising tennis phenom and other times they want to get fooled into being a patsy for an insurance fraud scheme or be the third wife of a serial killer.

I get what you're saying. I fall into the camp of people who probably wouldn't see this movie on purpose unless the leading woman was hot, which would maybe get me to agree to it reluctantly. Nothing about the trailer seemed interesting to me.

The butts in seats thing is interesting. It seems like they overpaid an "it girl" who still isn't going to get a lot of butts in seats. This movie seems like it might barely break even on their expenses, not make a ton of money (could be wrong?). I'd think they could have gone the other route and chosen an up-and-coming lesser-known woman who is actually fit for the part. Lower wages, more success? Ordinarily I wouldn't think an average dude could make sounder decisions than people who do this for a living, but then again I am talking about an industry that regularly fumbles and loses tens of millions of dollars by being out of touch with its potential audience.

Maybe I'll catch this streaming later and report back, I'm guessing it's a decent 6 out of 10 flick.

The music is somehow both stressful *and horny. Nails it. I watched it at an urban theater with many groups of women there and they were screaming in horror and ecstasy at the final scene as I'm sitting there fist pumping. What a ride. Must watch in a loud theater.
