Saw it last night with my son, and we both thought it was great. The show seems to have such a slow/exacting pace, but also keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
I loved the scene, when Paul and Chani were first fighting the giant harvesting machines in the desert. He ran from behind the leg, as a distraction, and Chani fired the weapon at the aircraft. Right when she hits it...the sound dampens and you hear her laugh at what they did as she's running. Just before the aircraft comes falling down and explodes in the background, the sound comes back fully. That was such a small touch, but made for a really cool moment.
Having not read the books, I have a question about the religious aspect...
The way I see it, there is actually a religion, with a prophecy, which Paul is fulfilling. However, there are some who are using it to manipulate others. Is this the case, or is it all fake, for the purposes of controlling the Fremen?
Secondly, Paul and His Mother changed after drinking the worm juice. They seemed to go from good to evil. Are they bad/evil now? Being controlled? Or are they just enlightened, and now on a mission to follow the slender path Paul has foreseen? Their change threw me for a loop, and not sure what to think about them and their actions now.
