I think The Lion King must be the best. To this day, I think it is the most popular of the Disney Renaissance, which I would argue has the best films of Disney's history.

Not sure the metrics used to make this were but Up, Inside Out, South Park, toy story 3 and Moana probably have a place close to these films.

The Pixar run from 1995-2010 is off-the-charts good. Basically across the board critical and financial successes eleven times in a row (Rotten Tomatoes % in parentheses).

1995 - Toy Story (100)
1998 - A Bug's Life (92)
1999 - Toy Story 2 (100)
2001 - Monsters, Inc. (96)
2003 - Finding Nemo (99)
2004 - The Incredibles (97)
2006 - Cars (75)
2007 - Ratatouille (96)
2008 - WALL-E (95)
2009 - Up (98)
2010 - Toy Story 3 (98)

Great list!!

My kids and I loved all the Kung Fu Panda's and Shrek's as well

Don't forget Barnyard!!
I just love the line the Farmer tells his wife -- she's like,"Honey, I just saw a cow outside!" And he's like," Woman! This is a cow farm! There's gonna be cows outside!" His delivery is hilarious!

My 3 1/2 yr old son's favorite movie is currently the "Hi Ho Men" movie aka Snow White.

Having watched it a bunch lately. I'm blown away by the fact the animation was done in 1937. It's mind blowing. Sure other movies can out rank it in a lot of ways, but for pure animation and cinematic achievement for it's time and place, it's hard to beat.

This has to be one of the most compelling 4-minute scenes in cinema period, animated or otherwise.
I agree.

I have no problem saying that it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it.

It's perfect.

How on earth did Cars get such a poor rating? That's easily one of my favorite movies.

I was also very surprised by this. The little snippet I saw in Wikipedia said critics thought it was a weak story or something?

I thought Cars was great. Didn't see the sequels but I heard those were pretty rough.

Cars is a wonderful movie.

Cars 2 is terrible but Cars 3 isn't bad.

The list was done in 2008, so it would be interesting to see an updated version of what the film industry considers the best.

to me, 1, 3 and 9 do not stand the test of time; although they are noteworthy as of the time of their release.

that is not to say they are bad movies, but they are more notable for what they represent more than the quality of their narrative.

I like #1 and #3, but there's definitely something to what you say. Snow White was the first feature length and Disney animated film, and, after adjusting for inflation, is one of the top-ten performers at the North American box office and the highest-grossing animated film both in America and worldwide, so it's place in history is monumental. Disney was presented with a custom made honorary Oscar for the achievement with one big statue and 7 little statuettes.

I rate Beauty and the Beast as both greatest and my favorite.

The Incredibles, Toy Story 3, Up, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Moana, Tangled, and Princess and the Frog round out the list.
