I watched the first two episodes and I don't really like it, but I'm not ready to give up on it yet either. I'm hoping this doesn't become another Invasion and they're able to turn it around. I don't really get what the point of the show is so far. If I start typing out all the stuff that doesn't make sense I feel like I'll convince myself to not watch it again.

I'm a 100% biased toward liking this for the sake of having another sojourn in the monsterverse. I've been a geek for Godzilla movies since I was a kid. So far, I'm still interested and am looking forward to the next episode...but I hope we get more play with the kaijus soon.

And interesting that one of my favorite comic writers (Matt Fraction, best known for his incredible Hawkeye run that the show was loosely based on) is credited as a creator and writer.

I thought the first 2 episodes were a little confusing at first but made sense later. Liking it so far. Of course, I loved their old Godzilla movies when I was a kid. It's a monster movie. Not an academy award winner.

I haven't watch this show yet but have read that arc. If that is the case, that would explain the slow development and lack of big oomph with this show so far...from what I've interpreted from this thread.

Episode 3 felt like things are starting to move. Good show.

I did really enjoy the Bikini Atoll sequence that was referenced in the opening credits, I think, of 2014's Godzilla

Rewatched a guilty pleasure of mine, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs Kong yesterday, and am going to see the new Godzilla movie that opens next week, Godzilla Minus One or something like that.

This show is growing on me, as I really love the universe this is set in. I think I have figured out the big twist of this season in regards to the all the family. Spoiler Theory below:


Kurt Russel is actually the father of the absent father, and thus the grandfather to the 2 kids. It ties to the "a secret and a lie are not the same thing dialougue from episode 3. I think based on kurt russells reactions and the fact that their father maybe learned this secret is what could lead to a reveal late in the season

Started watching last night; I like it although I do want to know more about how he ended up with two families…

I do like the building of background and characters that would be hard to develop in a movie.

Right there with you. Four episodes in, and I still have no idea why this show exists. If anything, they've only made Monarch look far more worse and incompetent.

Yeah, is the point of this show to make Monarch look like a bunch of bumbling idiots? The scene in the command center was weird with the lady shushing everyone when the idiot with a beard talked.

Exactly. And borderline evil bumbling idiots, at that, in how they went after the two main Asian characters, kept Kurt Russel's character in confinement, etc.

Big picture, I just don't get the whole Monarch dynamic at all.

- In the first movie they were essentially the good guys, with Ken Watanabe's stoic/respectable character leading the organization. Yes, they were shadowy, and had kept decades of secrets, but ultimately they had a noble aim.

- Then in the second movie, if I remember correctly, they started out good, but then Vera Farming's character, who works for them, goes off the deep end or something and basically unleashes all the titans to try and save the planet?

- But then in the third movie, Rebecca Hall's character works for Monarch, and they're mostly the good guys again?

Whereas, in this show, which takes place between the first and second movie, Monarch is seemingly a bunch of semi-evil bumbling idiots, chasing after the good guys, and I just don't understand the dynamic at all.

She's linked up with the eco-terrorists who are releasing all the titans because they think that will restore balance to the force...err, planet.

This show is about to be a no-go. More monsters, less people. It was ok for about the first 2 episodes…. The last 2 have suuuckked.

Yeah the last one I don't think had any monsters other than a flashback. Way to drama queen.

Still going to keep going. Kurt Russell is still awesome.

I will watch all of this, but I am growing a bit restless. Where the monsters at?

Ok, I am officially out and giving up on this show. I don't care that the main character is a lesbo.

This is a show about people and the aftermath of the kaiju destroying everything. Cool. If you are going to make a Godzilla show and have him and other monsters for 2 minutes total, at least make the human characters interesting. This is basically a teen drama with terrible actors spending most of the time just looking really sad at the camera. They are all so completely uninteresting and boring.

Name the show after a secret organization that we know very little about and then spend no time going into the history of the organization and what they do. Just make them look like a bunch of bumbling idiots who get foiled by a rag-tag team of teen drama queens. So dumb.

What a huge let down this has been. I stand by my other comments that Apple TV+ is just overall bad. Except for a couple of shows, everything has been a major disappointment.

The show is pretty bad and I've given up on it. But overall, I think Apple+ has a high hit rate

The show is starting to find its stride

So slow

Just now catching up with episode seven (eight is the latest episode), and that was easily one of the worst episodes of TV I've seen in quite some time. I'm basically just hate-watching at this point/trying to finish what I started. But what a muddy, boring, aimless, goofy, poorly written disappointment this show continues to be.

For every great Apple series - and they have plenty of great ones - man, do they produce some absolute dogsh*t, particularly when it comes to sci-fi. This… Invasion… Extrapolations… all such bland, overly expensive crap.
