It was suggested in the past that maybe someone should start a thread of YouTube accounts that musicians and music aficionados might appreciate.

Let's do it.

To start off, here is a combo of two of my favorite channels. Rick Beato and Anderton's. I watch both often and find myself watching more YouTube than Netflix, Disney +, Prime, etc.

This guy does all kinds of weird s***
Here he listened to what Enter Sandman sounded like played backwards,
then he played it as he heard it, backwards, then reversed the video again.
He has alll kinds of other weird but interesting stuff

This video will not please everyone on the site, but it is pretty neat to see what kind of trem systems are available out there that don't require any major modifications to your Tele if you should want to go that route.

I nearly boycotted this thread due to the 9th post...

Paul Davids is great. Andertons is great.

For anyone who has asked me anything about guitars and pedals, you know I love linking That Pedal Show. Those guys are absolutely fantastic, and a great way to kill 2 hours on a saturday if you really want to understand anything related to guitar in a deeper way.

Rhett Shull is one I will usually watch every new video post. I tend to align very much with his opinions on guitars, tone, etc:

I saw/heard an episode of Runnin' With The Dweezil where he had Paul Gilbert on and challenged him to bust out random VH tunes from memory.

Paul evidently knows them all. It was fun.

Found this guy's channel while looking for a review of Sire guitars.

He's in Singapore. Interesting channel.

His gear reviews start with a quick intro of the guitar or other gear, then a "song" where he shows how it performs for him.

Then a demo of all the pickup sounds. And then a review, with all the specs posted on screen. It's pretty handy that way.

I've watched maybe 8 of his guitar reviews. I really enjoy listening to him solo around on the song he has worked up or has downloaded from somewhere.

He's got some chops!!!!

For me there is such an amazing/complex beat. Seems like he likely never plays the riff the same way twice, while we dweebs are off trying to recreate his magic with perfection...

That he was swinging the riff instead of playing it in even notes was the big surprise to me. When that YouTuber slowed it down in Logic, it was really surprising!

Came here to post this before seeing that I had not replied to that last poster.

I've watched a lot of Gabriella's videos over the years. I don't know how the money end of things works for her on these videos since it is a cover of an artist in most cases.

Does she only pay the artist or label a little bit because it's her arrangement and not a straight up "broadcast" of the original recording?

Thanks. Those are very helpful.

Sounds like Gabriella needs to be cranking out some original content, but after all these years and cover videos, she must be happy with what she's getting out of YouTube to keep doing it this way.

Mary Spender had some good observations on the process in this video but it's not as detailed as those articles you linked.
