My wife and I binged all four seasons and just caught up to last episode.

The running gag of the police being idiots continues to hit even in the second to last episode. Now they think Gene was directly involved in his GFs death?!?

The Raven becoming very real even though it was a joke is an awesome story twist.

Lots of things point to him being involved. The money from NoHo, the raven who they very much know exists…his general shady ways.

Despite it being absurd, Stephen Root pulls off that look pretty well.

He ran out of the car and fell down the hill.
Went to some ladies house who gave him a Coca Cola.
Turns out this is just as hilarious in written form as it is on the screen.

Office Space was on an HBO channel last night, Stephen Root playing a MUCH different character in Milton over 25 years ago. Hard to believe it's the same actor.

Read that Root will be back for the King of the Hill reboot.

No, he hasn't directed a feature yet. The excitement for his career as a director is based solely on his directorial efforts on Barry so far (that, and the fact that he's a huge cinephile).

I highly recommend listening to this week's "Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend" podcast with Bill Hader as guest. First, it was hilarious, and second, they do spend some time talking about his love for old Hollywood and how it shaped him as a performer and storyteller.

Thanks for the heads up on this. That was a fun listen and I loved Bill's impression of Winkler.

this last episode was great and reminded me of all the things i loved about this show, but overall, i've been a little disappointed by this final season.

I don't think this was discussed above but why was the time jump necessary? Except for the fact that it gave Fuches time to serve his time and become a bad@$$ and Noho to build his empire I don't see a good reason for it.

i mentioned earlier, but Hader said on a podcast that early on in the show, he had a vision of Barry and Sally having a child and always wanted to see how that would play out. i haven't heard him explain any other reasons for the time jump, so I assume that was the driving force

Catching up on the last half of the season just to finish this thing out. Hate to give up so close to the end.

Just got to the time jump and this is giving me strong Lost S6 "flash sideways" vibes. I'm guessing it's either Barry's fantasy in his dying moment, or just him daydreaming while back in prison. I don't hate it though, matter of fact it just made things more interesting for me.

The theater was named the E. Schoonover theater, saw in the credits that the production designer was Eric Schoonover.
As for the final episode, I completely get what they wanted to do, but if kinda had a Seinfeld finale to it. Decent idea, but it didn't have the feel or impact of the show in the execution. I didn't hate it, just didn't love it like I wanted to.

Wow.

Wife and I both thought they landed it very well.

Hader has a long career ahead of him as a director if he wants it.

The pace of Barry, especially in later seasons, has always been pretty frantic. It definitely makes the show feel unique, but I really think some of this season could have used more or longer episodes.

Overall satisfied, but also the finale hit me kinda strange, especially for a finale in which two main characters died.

"Oh wow, that was pretty good. Welp, what's on next Sunday night?"

That is how I felt. I mean I understand that the entire concept of the show was a wild ride, and I was not expecting a happy ending. But for me it just felt flat all episodes following the time jump. I think I would have been more pleased had the series ended when Barry got caught

I didn't really like the time jump or the scenes that focused on Sally, and despite the short run times and episode count this season felt like it drug on. The ending was ok, but If I ever do a rewatch I'm stopping at the end of season 2.

I loved that finale. It was awesome.

Gene shooting Barry ultimately turns the movie into one that glorifies him and not Gene, and he was buried in ANC with full honors. The perfect comedy to end that show.
