not a fan of the time jump, but I trust Hader and Berg to wrap this up well considering the series as a whole. Need to listen to the Sean Fennessey/Bill Hader recap on Prestige TV.

Hader bailed on the rest of the recaps, due to the WGA strike. Sounds like he technically could have kept doing them, but is going full blackout mode instead, out of solidarity.
bad move, imo....wouldn't the WGA be better off if he used that platform to talk not only about the show but also how critical the writers are to the process?

I'm loving this season. I can understand how some don't, but everyone can have an opinion that's neither right nor wrong. Fonzy is the weak link by far this season.

Barry+8 is interesting. Fully into boring dad mode ignoring life to take care of his kid but still so aloof and checked out to everything but mortal threats.

Sally+8 is not as bad as many think. So self absorbed but fitting into dull life by numbing the pain with alcohol. That scene with the coworker was raw. Well done.

They are such terrible parents and even Barry meaning well is rife with wow moments that are very interesting but horrific.

Fonzy+8 has amped up the cringe. The long hair is terrible. Looks like a caricature. His zaniness has been maxed out and is an uninteresting turn of events. He is the main one I'm rooting for to die since he killed his son.

Hank was a surprise since he is getting back to his gangster ways and thankfully HBO ditched the stupid gay gangster love story.

Hader is the guest on Smartless this week. Very little Barry talk, but very funny.

I thought the gay gangster love story was one of the best parts of the show.

Let's not forget the incredible moment that gave way to the romance.

Just caught up last night. Cousineau coming in like a Clover Valley Gandalf gave me a good chuckle.

All those feelings must have been very confusing for you, I'm happy you can just watch the show now.

She's way hotter a a s brunette, even if that whole idea was full Florida Kim Wexler.
And love the risk they took with the FF.
I read around a lot on the episode because there was so much in it. I still don't fully get the bathroom scene, everyone seems to think it was her getting even, teaching him a lesson. But seemed a pretty dangerous way to do it And lots of people commenting on how she sees this as the role of a lifetime, like she doesn't even need the accent or even the wig. Could have just dyed her hair.
Also how controlling and demented Hader still is, now with his son. And how he has whitewashed his old life (he was just the medic, didn't hurt anyone). Sally basically turning away from her kid with the drink in hand.
There was a ton in this.
So for me it was great.

The FF 8 years episode was a dark, unfunny version of Napoleon Dynamite.

Just watched the last two episodes back to back, and immediately took a gummy after. Good grief the tension and dread is off the charts with this show.

The only thing I don't love is how many BB/BCS similarities there are, but hader is at least doing it somewhat differently and with a much different tone. Very curious to see how this wraps up.

I think there is also a chance that this isn't actually a Fast Forward, even with seeing Gene on his own in a scene. We'll seem cant wait to find out what the hell is going on

They specifically said 8 years at one point in the episode. I forget exactly when.

Random thought -

When Fuchs was interacting with the child earlier in the season, it was a flashback to Barry childhood.

That being said, I remember the setting of where those conversations took place being similar to Barry's current locale. Is there any chance the two are related? I initially thought that maybe he was talking to Barry's kid, but I think there was enough in the previous episodes that eliminates that possibility. Now I'm wondering maybe if Barry just moved back to where he grew up?

A town that size would remember him though. He wouldn't be able to go by "Clark" without some sort of disguise. I guess there's a chance he doesn't go into town at all, purchased the house/property in Sally's name but that would be a long shot imo.

Trying to place the town though is interesting because they show sally filling up at a Quicktrip which wouldn't be in a town that small and desolate. Their accents are southern, but the town looks like rural plains Kansas/Nebraska/Wyoming. I guess Oklahoma could be an option.

Hader is from Oklahoma, so that would make sense.

That said, in terms of where they actually shot it, that's definitely southern California, in the outskirts. So Barry and Sally might have just moved to some random, podunk town an hour or two outside of LA, but who knows.

in a Ringer podcast, Hader said it was definitely a fast forward and that early on, he just really wanted Barry and Sally to have a kid, so voila.

he also said that we'll find out in the next episode what Gene's been up to over that 8 year period, which is good

I'm three episodes in, and I have to say the season just isn't doing it for me so far. I feel like it's so far up its own ass trying to be artsy. Feels pretentious. I'm gonna give it one more episode.

I think its worth watching, but if you are already feeling that way its probably not gonna get better as the season goes on.

I felt the same way. Still don't understand the hype on the first few seasons. I stuck with it though because the episodes were short and it wasn't bad…, now the last season and a half has evolved into something that's not like anything else on TV. It's a bizarre combination of humor, irony, drama, suspense, all against what almost feels like an acid trip.

I will be walking backwards the rest of the night, and that was nice cliffhanger head fake at the end.

Enjoyed the Bill Burr voice cameo

Yep, I'd bet somewhere in between Palmdale and Harris Ranch

I didn't understand the home infiltration scene tonight. There are a lot of things I don't understand in this show though

I admit I have no clue either. I first assumed she was imagining most of it, but that the truck at the end was real. Though, that doesn't make much sense either, and then I saw someone speculate that Sally herself potentially caused the destruction in the house, in some drunken break with reality, which makes the most sense, I guess?

The progressive leniency on murder throughout each podcast episode, culminating in Bill Burr's voice/reasoning, had me dying. That was such a good gag.

Come on, Barry. Falling for the same trap twice? Get it together.

I've enjoyed the season, but not nearly as much as the first couple. More strange, less entertaining. Still good tho. Part of it may be how Hank's character has evolved. Just seems like a little less gold there than in the past

I thought when she was "locked in the room" she had locked up her mind up from what was happening in the living room. Something about "my eyes what did she do to my eyes" made me think that it was happening outside while her mind was locked up.

The theory of her disassociating with her actions make more sense especially after giving her son vodka. That scene was a hard watch.

I assumed the intruders were the cook who was fired that she had the interaction with in the bathroom and probably his brother he mentioned who robbed a bank

I assumed the intruders were Hank's men trying to get Barry for the Raven. But the whole scene was so trippy that it could have been one of 15 different things.
