Overall Could do without strawberry woman and skillet.

Miles is pretty genius

Haven't watched the HBO doc, but I assume it basically covers the making of this album?

After stewing on this one for a couple weeks. Isbell's still throwing fastballs. This album is excellent. Not sure where'd I rank it among his albums. Obviously not ahead of Southeastern & Something More Than Free, but still really really good.

Nice! I just hope the remaster is good. The remaster of the 400 Unit debut was an abortion. Ugh. They changed the sound and switched the track list and really dropped the ball on that one.

I am actually listening to the new album right now and it just gets better and better with age. So damn good!

Yeah I almost pulled the trigger on the 4 disc vinyl because it was on sale on Amazon for $58 for a bit but ultimately decided against it. It really doesn't have any new songs/b-sides or anything, just basically 4 versions of each song on the album. The album version, the demo version, and 2 live versions.

I'll give it a couple streams though.

Don't care to comment on the breakup itself, but more than anything, I really hope he doesn't fall off the wagon. Some of the videos they showed on the HBO doc from his drinking days were rough

The prenup is probably to ensure that he retains sole ownership of his music. I wouldn't be shocked if that's disputed given how active she was both in the writing process and as a member of the 400 Unit. I doubt they could have foreseen that in 2013.

If you watched the HBO documentary that follows the making of Reunions, they are very open about their difficulties. During the making of the album she actually moves out and moves to a hotel for a week. There was a lot of tension. They were both pretty open in long form interviews about the difficulty of both being touring musicians and well as creative people.

If you watched the documentary 'Running with our eyes closed' then it would not be surprising.

If you also listened to her latest album that came out in 2022, you'd be surprised it didn't happen sooner.

I'm now waiting for the inevitable cancellation of her opening two of his shows in Denver later this year (including Red Rocks). I have tickets because she is an awesome opener and would be playing fiddle with the 400 Unit during his set.

I saw her open for John Prine a few years back in Dallas, and while somewhat hot, I did not enjoy her music at all, and remember thinking she was weirdly quirky and not in a good way.

I think it's good, but I'm a big Isbell fan. It's basically just a doc around the recording on the Reunion album. One of the main take aways from it is that there was some major tension in their marriage. I don't want to assume or read into their problems, but what I got was they both seem like head strong artist that are maybe a bit deaf to one another's needs.

Awesome. I always thought/wanted him to do an acoustic album. Really let his songwriting muscles flex. IMO he was over-rotating on the Rock side of his talent.
I would love a whole album of Speed Trap Town, Live Oak, etc

First track dropped on his YT channel. Don't care too much for the lyrics on this particular song, but love the overall sound of the song. His guitar sounds incredible.

Going to see him and the 400 Unit at ACL in April. Would be nice to see his solo set too.

Anxious to hear how the album goes since it was recorded in less than a week with a 1940s Martin.

Grab the Live at the Ryman vinyl. His music is so much better live; especially at that venue.

My wife just grabbed tickets for his solo show in DC at the end of the month during a work trip. Jealous because he'll definitely playing songs from the new release.
