Maiden rocked our asses off in SA! KidDoc and I had great floor seats, mainly because we had half the row to ourselves. That made a difference as it got warmer and warmer in there (we were already glistening in the photo I took before the show)!

Bruce's voice is still so clear and steady. I dont know how he managed that when he has fought throat cancer while other singers from the same era who were never in his range have fallen way off the cliff. Just amazing!

My only real complaint was the intensity of the lighting onto the audience. It felt like a police interrogation at times. I couldn't keep my eyes open by the end of the show. We had ear protection but what I really needed was eye protection!

All in all, a fantastic show!

Picked up a couple tickets. Looking forward to it. My wish was that Kublai Khan TX was on the bill. However, looking forward to seeing bring me the horizon as well since they're on my list.

I've noticed that at a few shows. The first one I remember was Megadeth in Houston in 2024.

My theory is that some bands have started pointing lights at the crowd in order to screw up people who are trying to film the show.

If you have a proper camera like the band would bring, you're probably fine. But with the auto focusing cameras, I've found it very difficult to take pictures of the stage, backdrops, etc.

Anyway, that's my theory.

Glad you enjoyed the Maiden show!

I noticed similar lighting issues when I saw Maiden in Charlotte this month. Still a great show and I have no idea how Bruce has so much energy.

Maiden show in San Antonio last night was great. Rime was a nice surprise.

I thought the volume on Megadeth's guitars was a bit low when their set started but it seemed to get worked out. Always great to hear Holy Wars, Peace, Symphony, Sweating Bullets.

One more point about that epic night in 1985: it was the Ride The Lightning tour and I saw Cliff Burton play his solo.

Fantastic show, whole setlist was great, and I agree on Rime, definite highlight of the night. Was great to have Megadeth and Anthrax on the card. I've been to see Maiden every time they've come to Texas since the No Prayer on the Road tour in '91, Anthrax opened, and that was the last time Maiden had a good opening act.

For those who didn't read the Rush tour thread, they put on a great show in Houston last night! There was something for everyone. If you're like me, you stick to the commercial hits and we got that with all of "Moving Pictures" plus most of the other big hits except "Fly By Night." If you're a fan of the deep cuts, you got 2112.

Amazing visuals, fantastic musicianship, decent vocals except for a couple of songs that really tested Geddy's upper-range abilities. Overall great time!

Yeah they are a great one to see live, they really jam out and tons of fun to sing along!

We were further back, right on the edge of where the rain was blowing in under the cover.

They've always put on a high energy show when I've seen them. Been a good decade since I saw them last though.

A co-worker mentioned Marcus King opened. How was he? I've been wanting to check out one of his shows, but as a headliner.

Never heard of him before but when I saw him I was impressed. Chris Stapleton light I would say. His singing voice and guitar playing were beyond impressive. His songs though, they just lacked the catchy element. They were good, but forgettable.

I may be late to discovering this, but I just found the moshpit.com website, which has a large catalog of live music, mostly recorded in the 70s and 80s. Lots of great stuff.

Quote:

MOSHPIT is the largest live performance music streaming website in the world. Tens of thousands of performers, hundreds of thousands of tracks and more than 40,000 concerts, sessions and interviews are featured on MOSHPIT. MOSHPIT's content reaches back to the 1950s and extends into 2026. New content is added weekly from our studios across the United States, MOSHPIT concert recordings at venues and festivals and catalog acquisitions. Every Genre is represented from Rock to Country to Jazz and all their offshoots plus Blues, Folk, Metal, Bluegrass, Hip-Hop, Indie, and more.

MOSHPIT and its predecessors (Daytrotter and Concert Vault) started with the acquisition in 2002 of legendary concert promoter Bill Graham's proprietary catalog of live audio and video concert performances, many of which were recorded at the universally known Fillmore Auditorium, Fillmore West, Fillmore East and Winterland venues. In 2004 MOSHPIT added the King Biscuit catalog of nearly 2,000 high-end recordings and interviews from the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. Shortly thereafter, MOSHPIT acquired King Biscuit's sister catalog, Silver Eagle Cross Country, which included nearly 1,000 mostly Country recordings from the 70s, 80s and 90s. In 2006, MOSHPIT added the Daytrotter catalog. From 2005 through 2026 Daytrotter recorded more than 8,000 live performances throughout the United States, Canada and England. Months later, MOSHPIT acquired the Paste Magazine catalog. In 2007 MOSHPIT acquired the massive Newport Jazz catalog, which included Jazz and Blues recordings that went back to the 1950s, and shortly thereafter acquired the Newport Folk catalog. Then, in 2010, MOSHPIT acquired the Metropolitan catalog which included more than 2,200 concert recordings from the late 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s which featured performances at the Capitol Theatre, The Ritz and many other east coast venues and festivals. After 2010, MOSHPIT added catalogs from the legendary studio The Record Plant, the mostly blues and folk Hudson Valley catalog, the Starfleet catalog, the Dawson Sound and Hewitt catalogs, Tramps a seminal New York City venue, the Noise Pop and Heatwave festivals, the historically significant Ash Grove, the Jazz and Blues catalog from the Great American Music Hall and, lastly, the Amazingrace coffeehouse catalog.

As these concert recordings date from the 1950s and are, on average, 46 years old with many over 60 years old, the original source recording media type varies greatly, as does the manner in which the recording was made. MOSHPIT first cleaned and restored, as best as possible, the source media for each recording for example, many tapes were baked to allow a fair transfer of the original recording. Second, MOSHPIT transferred each recording into the highest digital format possible. Third, the digital transfers were then mixed, if there were multi-track transfers, and then mastered. Fourth, the concerts were cut into tracks and each individual track/song was named. Lastly, the songs were uploaded to the MOSHPIT website. MOSHPIT continues to acquire other catalogs and there will be several added in the coming months.

The MOSHPIT website is free and we endeavored to make it easy to use and fast. There are very few performers or genres that are not represented in the MOSHPIT catalog. Please use search or browse the Performer, Catalog, Concert and Sessions and Interview links to find the performance you want to listen to. Or, just peruse the featured Concerts and Interviews noted on the MOSHPIT homepage. The MOSHPIT newsletter will be sent out twice weekly and will highlight new Featured Concerts and Interviews which will be added to the top of the Featured Concerts and Featured Interviews sections on the homepage.

The MOSHPIT catalog includes performances by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Chicago, Miles Davis, Santana, Grateful Dead, The Who, U2, R.E.M., Neil Young, CSNY, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Rush, Bob Dylan, The Band, Dire Straits, Glen Campbell, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Dolly Parton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elton John, Dave Matthews Band, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Elvis Costello, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, Judy Collins, The B-52s, The Pretenders, Cypress Hill, Talking Heads, Kris Kristofferson, Phoebe Bridgers, Counting Crows, Iron & Wine, The War on Drugs, Bon Iver, Spoon, Wilco, Daniel Johnston, The Lumineers, Aimee Mann, Kacey Musgraves, Fleet Foxes, Bonnie Prince Billy, Lucius, Alabama Shakes, The Hold Steady, Bill Evans, Ben Webster, Chick Correa, Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson, Sarah Vaughan, Herbert Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Stan Getz, Dixie Chicks, Cyndi Lauper, and 8,000 more…

I watched it from the couch. It was glorious as usual! Are you going again tonight? I'll be watching right after the Aggie game.

My buddy and I scored our Billy Ryman tickets on Thursday. Lots of people got shut out and the on sale was stressful as hell. So now we are set for February night 1 Bridgestone PIT, night 2 Bridgestone.7th row Jarrod/Royal side, and night 3 Ryman center balcony. Can't freaking wait.

ETA: It's Billy's birthday today. Hope you're going again tonight. Should be a fun one. Although it will be tough to top a "In the Clear', "Turmoil and Tinfoil" to start a show. Whew.
