A little help for you, OP.
No, I've not seen it, nor heard of the movie.
I don't really like Eddie Murphy the serious actor. Not fair, but I grew up on SNL, Raw, 48 HRS, Beverly Hills Cop etc.Quote:
Eddie Murphy is underutilized in the movie but I kind of liked his quiet intensity; mostly it's just good to see him in movies again.
I don't disagree with you. We're probably around the same age cuz I grew up on those EM films too. I would say Dreamgirls was probably his best dramatic role. I'm happy he's acting again but wish he could get better material.Apache said:I don't really like Eddie Murphy the serious actor. "Look who's coming to dinner" was much more edgy & relevant given the time when it was released.
This just recycles tropes & old jokes. (White dudes can't play basketball, black women & their weaves etc)
She also had a baby with Lil Wayne lol.HollywoodBQ said:
24 y/o daughter talked me into watching this movie. We both had a good laugh at many of the Blacks versus Jews things that people who don't live in LA probably wouldn't understand or find as funny.
The movie wasn't as over the top as I was expecting with the LGBTQIAA++ agenda.
As I was watching the show and kept listening to Lauren London's voice, I thought, this whole situation reminds me of, and her voice sounds like, the story arc on Entourage where Turtle tries dating a Black girl whose dad is this overbearing manager of a body shop.
I also thought that Jonah Hill's character was acting like a knock off of Turtle from Entourage.
Then I hit IMDB and confirmed it.
Also found out that Lauren London was a baby momma for Nipsey Hussle. Mind Blown.
David Duchovny kind of phoned it in. JLD was cringe worthy and Eddie Murphy as NOI dad was awesome.
Jonah Hill got old and tried way too hard to be Turtle from Entourage.

Archie was pining for the days before the 70s. From the theme song Kate Smith selling songs (30s and 40s) and Glen Miller's hit parade (late 30s and early 40s) pinned down the exact time. Those were the days to him.Know Your Enemy said:
Yeah, we should all be more like Archie Bunker! That's when America was great.
You're probably just yanking LMCane's chain but if not, I don't think that was the intended point. I think he was implying that younger generations seem to think none of these issues have ever been addressed in popular culture. When, in fact, most of them have been covered more directly 40-50 years ago.Know Your Enemy said:

Watched this last night and thought it was okay, but far from great. I liked the relationship between Jonah Hill and Lauren London as a mixed-race couple. Their chemistry was solid, and the dialogue between them was sweet and funny.
The main problem with the movie was the depiction of Hill's parents played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny. It seems as though Hollywood has only one version of white parents in mixed-race movies, which is that they are blindly offensive and WAY over the top. Duchovny had only a few lines and came off just like the dad in Get Out. Most of the dialogue from JLD seemed wildly contrived and I didn't believe a person in this day and age would really talk that way (outside of a movie where race is a topic).
Eddie Murphy is underutilized in the movie but I kind of liked his quiet intensity; mostly it's just good to see him in movies again. Nia Long, as Murphy's wife, is completely ignored which is a waste of good talent.
I think we all have those relatives somewhere in our family.cajunaggie08 said:I should introduce you to my mother.Txmoe said:

Have you seen #YouPeople on #Netflix? According to Andrew Schultz, this kiss was all fake. #laurenlondon #jonahhill pic.twitter.com/p2aLMlR7BP
