Any proposal for the next movie?

I would lean towards something like Blade Runner or Apocalypse now.

Do a randomizer to get 5 options from the last list, and then put those 5 to a vote.

Good idea.

Also, it is October now. Do we lean into a classic horror?

AFI top 15:

Frankenstein (1931)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1979)
Carrie (1976)
The Terminator (1984)
The Night of the Hunter (1955)
The Shining (1980)
Deliverance (1972)
King Kong (1933)
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
The Birds (1963)
Alien (1979)
The Silence Of The Lambs (1991)
The Exorcist (1973)
Jaws (1975)
Psycho (1960)

I could also do ET due to it taking place around Halloween (IIRC)

I would've voted for Apocalypse Now or Lawrence of Arabia, but neither is streaming.

My one suggestion would be to stick to movies that are easily streamable to maximize people who can watch it?

I agree regarding easily streamable. I do think Lawrence of Arabia is worth a $3.99 rental.

Well scratch that, looks like Apocalypse Now Redux is on Netflix. So that's my vote.

Is that the best version to go with?
powerbelly

In my opinion, Redux is nowhere near as good as Theatrical Cut. Final Cut is second best.

From these I vote Rosemary's Baby, that's been on my watch list for a while and I'm ready to knock that one out this month.

Unfortunately it's on Paramount+ which I don't have, but I can figure something out.

I crossed out the movies that are fairly regularly discussed here.

I'd add movies like Frankenstein Meets the Wolf-Man, The Wolf-Man, Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula, Phantom of the Opera, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Creature From the Black Lagoon from the Universal Monsters series (all original versions, not the various remakes).

From the above list, I've never seen The Night of the Hunter or Rosemary's Baby, so I'm good with either of those.

Any objections to Rosemary's Baby? The night hunter looks interesting but isn't streaming anywhere I can find.

Some more horror suggestions that are currently streaming:

The Birds (Peacock)
Rear Window (Peacock)
Peeping Tom (Free on Tubi)
Jacob's Ladder (Paramount+)

I've never seen Peeping Tom so I should probably vote for it but if you opt for Rear Window I won't complain one bit.

Nice. My vote would be for that or Peeping Tom.

Peeping Tom would guarantee the most wide viewership though given that Tubi is free.

And I've always been curious to see it since it's considered the progenitor of the slasher genre, along with Psycho. This predates Psycho by just a few months.

Having seen Rear Window at least once, I'd vote for Peeping Tom among these choices.

Of the four you listed Peeping Tom is the only one I haven't seen. I've watched most of Hitchcock's films multiple times. Only seen Jacob's Ladder once and that was maybe a year after it was released in theaters so a rewatch is probably in order for me. Don't remember much about other than some very strange imagery.

If we want to continue the horror films for October there are quite a few free to stream on Tubi. Here are a few that stood out to me that I haven't watched but there are many more:

Nosferatu The Vampyre (1979)
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954)
White Zombie (1932)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Suspiria (1977)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The Stepford Wives (1975)

My vote would be Suspiria or Stepford Wives. In both cases I've only seen the remakes.

If you want to watch a horror I would highly recommend Martyr. It has to be the 2008 French Canadian version (subtitled, but so worth it) and NOT the 2015 American remake (was horrible).

I am partial to a crowd-pleaser like Bridge on the River Kwai after a brutal horror movie.
