Why do I feel like we're all in a group time out in this thread. Banished from discussing the show because we wee cursed to read a book that came out 4 years ago that tells a story that was told explicityl at least twice on the show that all the guys over there have watched ad naseum?

I dunno. It's silly I agree.

I think the show is doing some good adaptations to speed some things along and make slight changes that shouldn't really affect the overall story.

I wonder if the dragon smell on Daemon is what scared the horse. I would agree that before the rock, she killed herself and that wasn't his intent.

Sorry, I find Daemon to be a somewhat sympathetic character. He's got HUGE flaws and is not a "good" person but I like the character. That said, I think he wanted her dead so he could marry Rhaenyra.

The show plebs are discussing pacing so I thought we might do it here.

I'm afraid they're not going to invest as much time as they should into the Strong boys to make us care about their deaths. If Luke's death is the big "death moment" of this season, we have to see enough of Luke to give a **** about him

Alicent and her boys were really jerks about the "Strong" boys.

Basically I REALLY dislike her. Half of the bad stuff her boys did was because she goaded them to it. They would have done worse in some cases had they listened to her.

And she dies almost peacefully. Confined to her apartment. REALLY?

Peacefully, but after having her ENTIRE line wiped out. It's Rhaenyra's blood alone that wins the Game of Thrones, and it's her blood that defeats the White Walkers. That's gotta sting.

Well, I think Jaehaera dies after Alicent, but her blood never sits the iron throne after Aegon II.

Aside from the twitter fangirl squad that loves any tortured morally grey character (I'm really excited to see how folks react to Blood and Cheese) I'm curious to see how they play out Rhaenyra and Daemon's relationship and particularly his ambiguous affair with Nettles

This is fiction, so I wanted moar suffering for her.

I finished the book. It ends on Aegon III's 16th name day. I can tell from Targ family tree that Viserys and his line end up on the Iron Throne. How do we know that? Is that in the GOT books or is there another "prequel" book?

Aegon III is Rhaenyra + Daemon kid who married one of Allicent's grandkids. But it's R+D's son to Allicent's granddaughter.

So that Targ line wins out for the blood of the throne.

Important to note that Jaehaera dies before Aegon III marries her. So Alicent's blood never sits on the throne. Neither of Aegon III's sons have kids (Daeron I dies in war and Baelor is celibate) so Aegon III's line also dies out with the exception of Daena, his daughter, who becomes mistress to her cousin Aegon IV (the Unworthy) and whose ******* son by him becomes Daemon Blackfyre.

Essentially Aegon III spawns the Blackfyres and Viserys II's line spawns Dany and Jon and the rest of the legitimate Targaryens.

They were married but she was too young for them to consummate the marriage and have kids. I think she was 10 when she died. She either threw her self out of (or was assisted out of) a window… just like her mother.

By the way, I kind of like how Aegon III shows up on his 16th birthday and tells the hand "you're in my chair". He's had enough of. people running the show for him, particularly after Unwin Peake. (That guy was a real piece of work!)

Aemond becomes One Eye? Will probably try to claim Vhagar. I'm assuming that's what leads to Alicent trying to stab Rhaenyra.

Assuming pacing follows story then I don't think Viserys will kick it this episode. The "peace dinner" has to happen before he dies.

I think Viserys will kick it episode 8 or 9.

Also, they are really killing it in terms of departures from the source material. It's minimal and yet effective every time.

I only caught on to the change to Helaena's character on a second watch. seems they are making her prophetic and neurodivergent (autism spectrum) - she seems to make two prophecies with the centipede.

1) he'll have to close an eye, when Aemond is talking about claiming a dragon - Aemond One Eye
2) the last section (of the centipede) has no legs - the last king of the Seven Kingdoms will be Bran the Broken?

Obviously, Viserys will NOT die for an episode or three. When he dies, Alicent becomes unimportant and Rhaenyra becomes queen. Which brings up a theory I have that Rhaenyra might kill or have someone kill her father as a solution to her problems. In the meantime, he will linger so the drama continues.

Haha I'm not sure how people are clearly missing the Alicent vs Rhaenyra rumble in the jungle being set up here, or that Rhaenyra and Viserys have a good loving relationship.

Viserys is all that's protecting her right now, and she clearly comes to realise how precarious her situation is at court by the end of episode 6.
