It's like he took the 'Finding Frances' episode and turned it into a whole series

The "Smokers Allowed" episode of NFY also has some major Rehearsal vibes, especially the end.

I watched the first episode last night.

I enjoyed it, but I didn't find it funny or wierd, I just found it endearing. It just seemed like one guy on the spectrum, helping another guy on the spectrum out.

Now the second episode might be completely different

Replace "on the spectrum" with "religious to the point that they've lost touch with reality", and that's episode 2

Wow, the rehearsal with the kid is a mind ****. That woman has fully bought into it. It's so genius, unlike anything else I can remember. I think it will be much more jarring for her once "Adam" gets older. It's easy for the baby/toddler "years" to run together.

I agree with TC's take on the Raising Canes guy. He was either embarrassed about getting emotional or decided it was all fake and didn't want to look like a fool. Probably the most well adjusted subject that Nathan has ever had.

This show is an incredibly unique blend of earnest, awkward, sweet, hilarious, and cringey. I really like it but I can't imagine how I would describe it to somebody.

And yes, raising canes woman earned a couple rewinds and by far the biggest laugh of the night for me.

It's like the office meets westworld in terms of testing for fidelity. I am so entertained but not sure how to best describe it.

It's so simple to explain to people! Just tell them producers stealthily sneak in the window at night to replace his real baby with a creepy robot baby, and sometimes the real kid ages years in minutes so he needs a special mirror and oh yeah they also bury fully grown vegetables in the garden to be picked while Nathan is out doing literal golddigger simulations WITHIN other golddigger rehearsal simulations.

See? No problem at all.

Just watched the first episode, and I must come clean: I thought it was uncomfortably weird from beginning to end.

It's not going to get any less uncomfortable, I can promise you. If you don't find him funny, might just not be your style of humor.

Holy sh**

Can't wait to show this to my Asian wife...she eats this type of sh** up

Not sure what to think of this last episode. Right on that line of idiocy and genius and I'm not sure which side it landed on.
The sheer absurdity cracked me up though.

So far, I'm really enjoying the show and have had some laugh out loud moments. This last episode did seem a little off for some reason, but really can't put my finger on it.

But seriously, that was incredible, something that only Nathan Fielder could imagine and make. He pulls in the perfect people for these performances and find the perfect hilarious comments to highlight. Really, that was two amazing episodes that could stand on their own in one, that played off each other perfectly. Also, did anyone else think that the 15 year old "Adam" was a pretty good actor?

I am curious on if he was planning to do more scenarios where it was one or two per episode until he came across this woman and realized he had an absolute gold mine of an idea.

Episode 4 was wild! Such a Nathan thing to study the actors and then rehearse himself as one of the actors. Then have the 15 year old teenager study his friend who is troubled. One thing for sure is Nathan is making sure his actors go deep in their research to play a role.

I like the episode since it was out there. Not sure how they come up with this stuff but Nathan and his team are creative geniuses.

Nathan faking the teenager ODing in order to trigger Angela's past drug use. Then the teenager literally running out of the fake ambulance.

I was so disoriented and bewildered by 95% of that episode, and then I laughed harder at the Adam-age-slide bit than I have at anything on television in a very long time.

this was the best episode since the premier IMO. i love this show, but i hesitate to recommend it to people because i don't want them to think/know that i'm insane.

This is me. I tried describing it to a friend and just gave up after about 30 secs after I realized how insane I sounded.

I bursted out laughing during that scene. One of the paramedics was Thomas, the actor Nathan was pretending to be in the episode. I could not hold it together when I saw that.

Just finished episode 4. Quite possibly the most brilliant tv I've seen in the last decade.

I lost it when he gave up his keys after moving in with his band mates.

I think his primary comedy in this is to show how much he can spend meticulously doing nothing for no reason. So brilliant.

Just finished episode 5:

-Audibly awkwardly laughed when he reconstructed a building yet again.
-Lost it when Nathan thought she said she boiled clothes.
-Angela is legitimately a crazy person. I can't believe her favorite director being Mel Gibson wasn't scripted.
-The zionist lady is going to create some clickbait articles criticizing the show. Book it
-I hate hyping up shows too much, but this is unlike anything i've ever seen. It somehow gets better every episode.

The Mel Gibson thing was psychotic. That was the first time I thought she might actually be a malicious loon as opposed to an innocent loon. Either way, yeah, she sucks so much.

Also, I don't at all mean this as any kind of disrespect or critique against Christianity or anything like that, but I couldn't help but literally laugh out loud at the way Nathan dumped the contents of the nativity scene off the shelf right after she left. Same goes for him tossing the Christmas tree. I felt terrible, but it was just the way he did it, or the way it was cut or something, that made me lose it.

That said, it was a nice balance there at the end, implying that he'd basically traded out one extremist for another, in a what-have-I-gotten-myself-into kind of way as the Jewish tutor woman droned on and the credits rolled.

the "maintaining winter is really expensive" line was what got me.

Mel Gibson being her favorite director is 100% in character . Unless her whole character is scripted, it was not a scripted line. of course, I am not sure if she is crazy, lazy or scripted
