Strong start and fizzled like crazy. Too much Zoe, who ultimately was nothing but filler and not critical to the outcome at all. And one could see the possibility of Emily being Faraz Hamzad's kid coming from a mile away. The whole season built up to this being a "Wow" moment and there was nothing surprising about it

Yep, and waaay too much Zoe. Not only was she annoying but looking back she was a completely superfluous character that dragged down the show. Rewrite the show without her and its a way tighter more exciting show.

Right. She was a terrible addition so I was sure she must play some key role into how this ultimately ends because why would you otherwise bother. Nope. Totally superfluous. The perfect description. Hopefully they don't bring her back.

This seemed like a perfect episode to set up a kickass finale, but instead it just ends the season on an emotional cliffhanger reveal that most people figured out weeks ago. (I'll admit it didn't know the daughter was already alive when they fled, I thought maybe Hamzad's wife was pregnant.)

I guess I wasn't expecting it to be an action-centric show and I actually liked some of the heavier scenes of 1-1 dialogue, but even I thought it was annoying how little action they gave after the first two episodes. How tough would it have been to add some more altercations into some of these last episodes?

I found the super genius Afghani female puppet master to be ridiculous. We are talking a society where women are treated like dogs (especially by fundamentalist who were doing the fighting back then). For decades, they haven't even allowed to be educated at all. Yet we are supposed to believe that this one is Margaret Thatcher?

I did not remember her being Afghani, but from another country.

I don't recall thinking she was from a different country.

However, if I heard correctly, she attended some sort of training in the USSR which is where she met the Soviet agent she cultivated (while he was thinking he was cultivating her).

Although the Soviets were supposedly more open to educating and developing women agents, I have no idea how they happened upon her or where.

I agree it is a stretch.

But then so is 73-year-old Jeff Bridges as a superhero.

Two things have kept me watching: John Lithgow, who I think is doing a wonderful job, and Alia Shawkat, whose character I like.

I think Dan Chase learning his wife was a master manipulator, and realizing that he himself was most likely played, was one of the better parts of the last few episodes.

How many years did he spend with Hamzad altogether? We absolutely sure it's Hamzad's daughter?

Yeah, I liked him wrestling with that. Same with the "you don't get to choose how you're remembered" stuff. I just wish that this was all in the episode right before a finale where we might get to see some of these tensions lead to reactions. Instead it just all felt flattened and incomplete.

I think we only know that Hamzad thinks she's his daughter. Could very well still be Chase's if he was getting frisky w/the wife long before they fled.

Season finale, there will be a season 2.

This says the original plan was to do a ten episode season, but it was cut short due to Bridges' cancer/COVID troubles. Once he got better, it seems they decided to go with seven episodes just to get something on the air.

This kind of supports my contention they had a season's worth of stuff, but decided to spread it out over two seasons.

I keep thinking about this show. I'm not an old man, but I'm getting there. This show was about three old men looking at their life and wondering if it was good. One is evil, willing to sacrifice his relationships to preserve his image, the other two are willing to give up everything else for the sake of their "family."

I loved this show.

It's actually about 4 old men. I hope the three younger old men come together to help their daughter and deal Justice to the bad one.

I really liked it.

The only thing I didn't like were the flashback stories. Enough already. We understood the background early on. Didn't need so much back story.

But I'm looking forward to S2

Season 2 starts 9/12. They released this trailer, which doesn't show a whole lot.

I've got mixed feelings on this show. I mean I'm going to watch season 2, but season 1 started so strong and in my opinion was kind of getting lost in itself towards the end.

I'd rather see this than a Season 2 of Lioness.

May be kinda silly, but after seeing Bridges on the White Dudes for Kamala call, I'm not nearly as interested in watching this season.
