I wish that I hadn't read the book before watching. It's fine but I doubt I recommend it.
ironically I will never read the book now that I have seen the movie.

then again, I am not really into fiction books.

They are enjoyable. Nothing great but solid.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

Being a gear nerd, a western hunting junkie, and enjoying spec ops books, Jack Carr's fiction has been a breath of fresh air to the stale non-fiction I had wrapped my head in. These books are written for me. I also enjoy Carr's somewhat political preface's he writes. I hope crazy success doesn't change him. Everyone in my circle I've recommended the books to have enjoyed them enough to read all 5. I'm a fan.

If it makes a difference, the show has very little in common with the book. For the life of me, I can't figure out why people think a book is good enough to option for a movie, then completely re-write it.

I'll also add, the flow of the book makes his actions much more justified and there's less collateral damage. In short, Reece is a much more likeable/sympathetic character in the book than the series. I thought they did a really bad job of that in the show.

I don't mind Pratt, and really like Ben.

But the casting of Katie is the one that really bothers me. She's nothing like the character described in the book, and she's a bad actress. If she was cast different, I think it would help a lot.

The more I've watched....it's an ok show. Not terrible, not great. Worth a watch.
Taylor Kitsch plays Ben

and played a NAVY SEAL officer in "Lone Survivor"

He was also really good in a show called "The Defeated".

I gave up on it after 3-4 episodes, but he was good.

It is a shame they didn't have SEALs in the civil war.

Threema is very secure, the only app more secure is Signal.

I enjoyed it. Some of the situations he got out of were a bit much but it's fine. Basically a modern John Wayne movie. Good stuff.

I'm pretty sure Signal is what he used in the book

I did, as well, but hoped I was wrong. Would rather have had it remain a mystery that kicked off season 2 or something.

I didn't know what to expect going in and treated it like an extended popcorn flick. From that standpoint it was fine and I enjoyed it.

but that last scene where Pratt just shows up (completely dry) on a boat in the middle of a bay in Peru was eye rolling for sure
you mean a corrupt CIA agent skilled in deep cover operations

would tell Pratt WHERE HE IS GOING TO BE and then hang around the same location for a few weeks after getting the money?!

We've watched 4 episodes so far and I've never read the books so coming in with a very blank slate. Wife and I are enjoying it and get caught up in the action within each episode, but they all seemingly loop in some new character without any explanation of who they are or how they fit in.

Just finished the series and I enjoyed it. I have the book downloaded on Audible, does anyone that has read/listened to the book recommend I still give it a go?

Yes, the books are great. I was talking to a family member this weekend who had just spent all Saturday reading the Terminal List after watching the show. Being fresh on his mind, he was more frustrated with the show changes than I was.

Wife and I finished the season last night with the last 2 episodes. We really enjoyed it overall - lots of "Wow's" said out loud during the show. Interested to see if Season 2 happens.

I have not ever been too big of a Pratt fan, but I really like him in this because it is a different character for him - much more serious and no corny jokes.

Finished this show over the weekend. It was very predictable. He managed to narrowly escape way too easily way too many times and seemed to have superhuman healing abilities, but overall it was enjoyable.

I'll echo the above. The books were great, the show average, but better than a lotta other stuff out right now.

Just finished it. We really liked it. Asked my neighbor (former SEAL who calls all his friends brother all the time, so yes, I find that type of dialog spot on) and he really liked it. He was commenting to one of his navy buddies that they clearly trained and had an advisor on tactics, muzzle discipline, etc. They get annoyed when it's amateur hour for these types of shows.

Jack was on Mike Rowe's podcast last week.
It was interesting to hear some of his background and how the book and series came to fruition.

I thought it could use a lot more flashbacks than the 4-5 we had per episode.
Just him hanging out with his daughter and wife with some hazy cinematography to show that we're dealing with the past, as if that wasn't already abundantly clear.
I am always wrong
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Trying to figure out if I would enjoy this show or not. Stick with me here because this is a very specific question. Does anybody know if this show, by chance, has any scenes where a bird flies into a window? I always enjoy scenes in movies and shows where a bird flies into a window. Just trying to find out if this show has any scenes where a bird flies into a window. For those who have watched the show, let me know if there are any scenes where a bird flies into a window. If there is a scene where a bird flies into a window, I will definitely watch the show so I can watch the scene where a bird flies into a window.
