I'll go with Signs. An alien species travels across the universe hell bent on conquering the Earth, a planet predominantly covered in water, only to get defeated by…..wait for it….

Huge letdown.

I know what the point is but that didn't mean the movie didn't blow. After the buildup through the whole movie I want to see an alien not Jodie Foster's old man.

Contact was great at first, but the end sucked. Not the part with the dad, but the whole Congressional hearing part. The notion that they would accuse her of lying or that nobody would believe her when light was glowing out of the thing and it pulled a ship towards it is prosperous. No way could that be kept secret.

If only they had interrogated her in some sort of galactic senate… with maybe a couple funny aliens to lighten the mood. That would have been dynamite!

Maybe you should watch the end again, they are not accusing her of lying. They present it in the hearing as a final elaborate hoax by SR Hadden and that she was an unknowing actor in the hoax.

The party, aided by the remaining Mother Corps members, confront Adam in the Earth Guide sanctuary, and witness him creating Yggdrasil in the Pacific Ocean. Adam takes the guise of a massive Phantasm monster called Deus Esca and seals the party's Aether powers while banishing the player back to the ARKS Ship. Al discovers that Mother's consciousness is still in his body, and Mother possesses him to return the player to Earth and restore the party's Aether powers. The party defeats Deus Esca and Adam, realizing the error of his ways, returns to normal before dying.

I'm sure they orbited the planet and ran an analysis of the atmosphere first before landing. That's like Star Trek 101 stuff.

We're trying to send humans to a planet without any surface water and extreme temp swings. Nobody is perfect

What about movies that on paper are awful, but in reality are awesome?

Maybe you should watch it again. They were ridiculously aggressive with her when James Woods calls her delusional and the another says her story "strains credibility". Then people in the crowd tell her "we believe you". The notion that Hadden could make her "dream" that whole sequence despite him being dead, and her having a 100 doctors around her is ridiculously unbelievable even in that fictional world. Either explanation that she was 'delusional" or a liar would be so preposterous that only the most idiotic conspiracy theorists would ever think it.

I realize they were trying to bring it back to "faith", but God it was stupid.

The aliens in Signs were convicts and Earth was being used as a penal colony. Obviously.
