Spoiler:

Could be wrong, but I don't think there was a direct plan for Nacho to do anything. Mike was going to follow his lead and prevent him from being tortured. Could have went a few different ways just like Mike said.

When I saw that house, I assumed they were going to take him inside. Which would nullified Mike.

If Mike had to take that shot, Gus would have had a LOT of explaining to do.

Oh wow. Crazy coincidence. Mando on Mr. Show...

I was like whoa, Mr Show? So that's Mando 20 years ago looking identical to today?

Then realized it's not Mr Show but the 2015 Netflix reboot called "w/Bob and David". So not really a coincidence, he's there to watch a friend and coworker I guess.
I know it's not related to BCS (well I guess it kinda is) but my favorite sketch from Mr Show:

The plan was for Nacho, with his hands ziptied, to make a run for it. Victor would then gun him down. Mike was there with the sniper rifle as insurance. However, all of this would have still left suspicion on Gus.

Nacho found the shard of glass and hatched the suicide plan on his own (in my opinion). When Mike said "Do it!" while watching scene unfold, I don't know if he wanted Nacho to run for it or shoot himself in the head.

In the end, Nacho's suicide is a much better cover story for Gus. Especially when he confessed to switching Hector's pills. That was a deliberate reference by the writers to "I watched Jane die".

Here's a conspiracy theory. With them all standing there, why didn't Mike gun them ALL down? I guess that would have handled the Salamancas, but the rest of Don Eladio's would have come after Gus.

That was the plan for Gus so he could get his way and keep Mike off his back. I don't think Mike cared about any of that, and was going to go whichever way Nacho decided. So that's what I mean by no plan.

It actually reminded me more of when Walt went off on Tuco before Jesse clubbed him with the rock.

Seriously, I had to YouTube it myself, and I've seen BB multiple times. Crazy it's been 14 years since it started and almost 10 years since that show ended.

Good Luck! I took a BB tour when i was in Albuquerque, the lady who owns that house is crazy, and despises all the attention and people that come see the house. she put up a fence around the property because people kept thorwing pizzas on the garage. It barley even looks like the same house anymore...
We went a few years ago and the garage was open and one guy was dressed up like Heisenberg in a trench coat and glasses. House looked the same as in BB. We saw Wendy's motel and the car wash. We were killing time prior to a flight.
I was in ABQ about a month ago for work, so I took a self guided tour of some BB places. Walt's House, Jesse's House, Hank's House, Carwash, Saul's office, Los Pollos Hermanos (Twisters), The Dog House. I also stopped by the Candy Lady to get some blue meth rock candy. They supplied it for the show.

For Walt's House, I can understand the current owner's frustration with fans and it must be a PITA to live there, on the other hand, they shouldn't have bought it if they didn't want to deal with the attention. It looks completely different from how it did on the show and is surrounded by a fence with a bunch of "No Trespassing" and "Respect our Privacy" signs all over it. All of the other places looked pretty much exactly the same, except for name changes on the businesses.

See, that's how you do a shooting scene, gets gut shot, screams like crazy, Jesse gets a couple of kicks in and Tuco starts going into shock. None of this bang and they slump over non-responsive.

For the vast majority of sane people whose lives do not revolve around "fandom," the though of having the outside of your generic suburban house appear in a cable TV show would not be a big deal. Even I would have just thought of it as an interesting talking point on the rare occasion that I invited relatives over. I wouldn't have thought, "this will be a standing invitation for a parade of social media sociopaths to come by every day trying to throw pizzas on my roof." Because that's absurd. Especially when the show started filming, even we all-knowing Texaggers had no idea how much the twitters, facebooks, and reddits and the instagrams would come to warp reality.

I think it's pretty easy to understand what a ridiculous burden that is on the owners. They probably went from thinking a little TV trivia would help the resale value, to realizing that no one with a family would ever want to buy it again.

The same people have owned the Walter White home for a long long time. Since the 70s. The show provided the fencing because they felt bad about the owners dealing with idiots throwing pizzas on the roof and stealing landscaping and so on.
I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the explanation! I thought maybe someone bought it because, "Cool, I get to own Walt's house!" and then got fed up with people throwing pizza on the roof.

The guide i had said multiple people have offered to pay good money for the house, but they refuse to sell. One guy even wanted to turn it into some sort of musuem for the show and recreated the inside to look like it did on the show.

When Breaking Bad premiered:

  • Netflix was still a mail-in DVD service
  • Blockbuster was still relatively popular
  • Most people still had flip phones
  • Instagram did not exist; almost nobody knew what Twitter was
  • Youtube and Reddit were still in their infancy
  • People still printed maps on mapquest to find places

14 years in not long in the scheme of things but it's crazy how different the world is from then. Especially in the landscape of television and streaming.

I actually remember renting seasons 1 & 2 at Blockbuster during the two weeks I took off after my son was born because I wasn't on the BB train from the jump and that was the best way to find them.

I definitely wasn't into it for the first few seasons. I was never really into crime dramas, and figured a show about cartels might be too real to be entertaining. Wasn't until the break b/w season 4&5, or during the s5 split that I mostly caught up with AMC marathons.

It's a valid question but supposedly Mike single handedly took out 2 car loads of cartel scumbags that were hijacking $7mm off Saul out in the desert.

He wasn't using a bolt action rifle in that situation. Much different when you have an automatic weapon. Plus he didn't get everyone, remember?

I think Mike was just rooting for the kid in the moment when he pulled the gun on Bolsa. It's not like Nacho hasn't proven himself to be resourceful enough to come up with that on his own.
Mike knows Nacho is dead either way, but if he shoots Bolsa, then Nacho goes out in a blaze of glory (instead of being tortured) and takes one of them with him.

Not sure if that's Mike's style, he wouldn't risk his own neck for blazes of glory. He would risk his own neck if Nacho wanted to fight, he had earned that in Mike's mind and had a decent shot at taking out Bolsa and all three Salamancas with Mike's help. That still doesn't really get Nacho's family out of the cartel's path though.

Not to be argumentative because I'm far from being a firearms expert, but I think most of the damage was done with the sniper rifle. (Implied, because you don't actually see him fire anything but the revolver.)

Notice that he takes out the bronco with the rifle at the end of this scene and I don't remember him carrying a big armory of other guns as he and Saul hiked through the desert.

I only say all this because the scene never set well with me. I don't believe that Mike could take out THREE carloads (I got it wrong in my original post) all by himself. Granted one car with 2 dudes got away but still...

Mike and Lalo are like comic book badasses. Mike is like Pawpaw Punisher. I almost process some of their scenes in an unreliable narrator mode, as if we're seeing it the way street toughs and junkies who sort of knew them would talk about them. "Yo, I heard that dude took out two truckloads of cartel soldiers by himself.." "i heard he was special forces in Vietnam and used to be a mobbed-up cop back in Philly..." You can imagine some guys like Skinny Pete and Badger, or other side characters, trying to tell the stories after everything went down.

Obviously take out the twins first, the only real challenge being getting the second twin before he gets to cover. Bolsa wasn't going anywhere quickly, and Nacho had him covered. Then just leave Tio Hector in his wheelchair in the middle of the desert.
