Can we keep this thread to BCS please? I don't give a **** about these other shows. Lol.

It's actually pretty inconvenient too. If he was still in that shed, he may have been able to hide until the twins left. But since he was in the truck, he was screwed.

(Unless he left footprints.)

BTW, False Flag is pretty good too, if you don't mind reading dialog.

No ***** One serious tv show that I actually pay attention to at any given time is about enough for me.

Not even 1 week in and this thread delivers. At this rate, we're gonna up the ante next week with hurt feelings and flags

Latest Ringer podcast thinks it's Lalo in the black car at the end of episode two, following Jimmy and Kim, and that they're his "proof."

No show has ever or will ever come close to either BB or BCS as far as cold opens go. Gilligan/Gould are in a league of their own.

One thing we did not see last night - a fast forward black-and-white Gene scene in Omaha.

Speculation is that's because we're going to be treated to a lot more than just a brief flash-froward sequence, later this season. Could be multiple flash-forwards, an entire flash-forward episode, or even multiple episodes set in the Gene timeline.

I had that thought too but dismissed it pretty quickly. Isn't he still in Mexico?

We saw him turn back towards Mexico and away from the border, so yes, as far as we know.

I understand that theory but to me the hole in it is why wouldn't Lalo go with the coyotes back across the border to the states then? To me it seems that Lalo's epiphany on the phone was that he needed to find Nacho and get him to admit Gus set him up.

I think Hamlin may already be onto Saul stashing the coke in his locker and may have hired his own PI to follow him around.

My initial guess was some kind of P.I. as well, and it probably still is.

That said, everyone and their dog is already after Nacho from the jump, and I don't think Lalo would *just now* be figuring out that Nacho is the proof he needs. Though, I could be wrong.

Either way, all I'm saying is, I *think* a day or two passed between the last time we saw Lalo and when Jimmy and Kim visited the Kettleman's. So he technically could have driven away from the border to do whatever he needed to do, then been back in New Mexico in time to tail Jimmy/Kim in that final scene.

But everybody was already going after Nacho. Lalo didn't need to go help out on that.

Going after Nacho to kill him or going after Nacho to capture him and get him to admit Gus' involvement? Seems to me they would be out for blood unless instructed to keep Nacho alive.

Was the last time we saw him (Gene) the episode where the guy accosted him in the mall and made him say "Better Call Saul?" He called the cleaner, and then cancelled to stay in Omaha and "deal with it myself," somewhere in the 1st half of Season 5.

I went back and watched the season four flash-forward as well, and it's almost assuredly the same cab driver who gives him a ride from the hospital. We only basically see his eyes in that sequence, but I'm 99% certain it's him. So I'm assuming the driver recognizes him in the cab, then when he sees him at the mall a few days later, he's basically like, "I knew it was you!" And then he of course mentions being a cab driver. But we're also led to believe that MAYBE he's not *just* a cab driver and is following Jimmy/Gene for some nefarious reason.

Wait, holy sh*t, am an idiot for not catching this before? Anyone else just now seeing this/connecting this dot? I guess I just completely looked past the mustache somehow...

Quote:

Speaking of characters who I care about deeply, when it comes to 601, when did you decide or realize that you weren't going to start this season with Gene?

As we started talking about the whole season, we realized that this season has a very different structure from the other seasons of the show. It has a different structure, it goes into places that we've never been before, there are shocks of many kinds, and it seemed like starting it in a different way was the right thing to do, waiting to see Gene Takovic might make sense at this point. It's no big surprise that Gene is part of the show, because that's the key art: Bob as Gene Takovic, the Cinnabon manager, either taking off or putting on a Saul Goodman sport coat. So I think it's a pretty good bet that we're going to see Gene, but maybe waiting to see him is the right move.

At this point, I can't decide which will be true because this show swerves the audience so well.

Either
A) This is clearly meant to show us the effects extreme paranoia can have on someone, where an innocuous interaction can seem so hostile to him
or
B) They expect everyone to write it off as paranoia that it'll be a huge shocker if he DOES turn out to be after him.
TCTTS

Yeah, you know it's great writing when both of those are on the table.

The cabbie in the mall certainly seemed "off," and more than just a random hey I know you chance encounter.

On the other hand, I've heard some crazy **** out of the mouths of cab drivers back in the day when we still took cabs more often.

They were already instructed to keep Nacho alive. One of the twins shot his own gunman and said "alive" because that guy was trying to shoot Nacho. And all of this while they still think Lalo is dead. So I see no reason for Lalo to join in on that search (and he can't even walk well).

One thing I noticed -- the shot of Kim having dinner with her client through the window of the restaurant, with metals on the windows that kinda resembled bars on a jail cell.

Could be intentional, could be coincidence.

I'm not saying Lalo is directly participating in the chase of Nacho and you are making some timeline assumptions based on the order of things being shown in the episode. You also don't see the cousins being instructed to keep Nacho alive, unless I just don't remember it. The cousins show up to Lalo's place cover up the burned corpse with their jacket and we are lead to believe they think it's Lalo but Lalo could have already told them to play along so everyone thinks he's dead. Or the cousins could actually think it's Lalo and start their search for Nacho and then Lalo could have called them and told them he needs Nacho alive. I could definitely be wrong but I do think it's a possibility Lalo realized on that phone call that he needed Nacho alive and should stay in Mexico until the search is concluded and he has an opportunity to question Nacho himself.

I read another rumor that Howard hired a PI to tail Saul.

Edit noticed someone else mentioned when scrolling through the posts

BTW, where did Saul get that duffle bag full of money? He turned in Lalo's $7M to the court to bail out Lalo, right?

Lalo paid Saul 100K for making the pickup, what's left in the bag was his cut.

It was his cut for making the pickup. The "extra" after the clerks counted all the cash.

The tail could've been someone in the DA since Saul couldn't explain where his client was and accidentally identified him as Lalo. That was also a rare mistep for Saul.

The tail is the woman Jimmy conned into thinking he was Kevin Costner, who tracked him down and she's pissed.
