And the teeth matching Lalo was crazy...killing that guy with scissors.

Just next level...they are like a fine wine....get better with age.....

And Kim is amazing. You think you've lost everything? You have no idea

Because they were setting up Nacho, but needed to get in the safe to do it.
The other ID was Macho's dad's. Mike pocketed it.

Insane how Kim is going to end up being the person who pushes him to be Saul. How crazy that seemed back in the early days. Hell, as late as early S5.

The Salamanca brothers could make a lot of money showing up to parties.

In person cameo…I know I'd **** myself if they knocked on my door

That threw me for a second. I didn't think Saul was that flush with cash based on the Caddy and strip mall office. I thought it was maybe a cartel guy's pad until the cutout floating in the pool. Looking forward to someone doing a deep dive of everything I missed there. I did catch the tequila bottle topper from Kim and Jimmy's first con together that Kim also went back to get out of her desk when she quit the firm.

OK, that was a complete WHOOSH! on my part with the scissors killing. I was unsure why he was killing the guy.

What was Mike looking for at nachos house ? It wasn't the safe, they immediately started drilling that. He was looking for something else but it seemed he never found it

Some thoughts:

Not sure why Lalo killed the wife and husband in beginning?
I thought because he didn't trust no one right after that attack.

I wasn't sure why Mike put the letter in the safe?
My guess Mike was following orders from Gus to get nacho killed.

Who was in the car in the end of episode 2?
I thought it was Lalo.

When Saul was pinned in the corner from the Kettlemans, Kim stepped in like a boss and basically shut them down. Was a very hold my beer from Kim as she went to work on them. Was a very cool moment to see the Kettlemans return from season 1.

The husband was the charred body they found in Lalo's house and believed was him. The dental work Lalo paid for was to give him a "dental double" should he ever need to fake his own death.

Correct but this feels like a bit of a plot hole because Gus has to know that they'll do everything they can to take him alive and interrogate him before killing him.

They're setting up her death later in the season, having her devolve into a "bad guy" Saul doesn't recognize.

It's a bit cliche but it works for this series

The look on his face during that scene was a bit heavy handed but again, it works pretty well here.

Those two episodes were basically a late season game by the 1997 Chicago Bulls.

Just a well-oiled machine and basically showing off their insane talent.

I love this damn show.

2 notes:

1. The date on the check at the Kettleman's was 5/23/2004

2. BCS is splitting the season in 2 parts. 7 episodes in April/May and 6 in July/August. BB did the same thing. 1st half of the final season of BB was wrapping up loose ends after Gus. 2nd half of the final season of BB was Walt vs Hank. I expect the first half of this season of BCS will be taking us up thru the events of BB. The second half of this season will focus on Gene Takovic in Nebraska.

TV is maybe best it's ever been, with so many insanely great shows over the past couple years (this month in particular). But man, there is absolutely nothing like the tone, tension, and fastidious, clockwork precision of this show. It's just on a completely different level. Seriously, what a fantastic opening two hours.

That said, AMC+ is a complete sh*tshow.

To watch an AMC-produced show, I had to click on my Apple TV app, navigate to the AMC+ "channel," click on Better Call Saul, then, to watch the first episode of season six, for some insane reason, it took me to the Amazon Prime Video app, where I could finally hit play?

If that wasn't enough, when I tried to watch the second episode, it then shot me over to the AMC app, where I had to enter my YouTube TV credentials, and could then finally watch the episode, but WITH commercials this time. And to make matters worse, the same, 15-second Sketchers ad repeated at least eight times back-to-back-to-back each commercial break, nearly every single break.

Hey, AMC. You *have* an app. So why is AMC+ a "channel" and not the same app? Also, why the hell am I having to jump through so many hoops, on so many different apps, only to end up paying $8.99/month for commercials?

AMC on Youtube TV is terrible quality. The bitrate is way too low. Does anyone know if you can watch in 4K on AMC+ and can use a cable provider log in? Or do you have to pay for the subscription regardless?

I have YouTube TV as well, and the terrible bitrate is exactly why I chose to bite the bullet and just do AMC+ on top, from now through August. It was either fourteen episodes at $2.99 each ($42) and wait 'til Tuesdays, or $45 for five months of AMC+ and watch with everyone else on Monday nights. I chose the latter. Either way, I wasn't going to watch this final season of one of the best shows ever via sh*tty compression. As for the 4K of it all, it just says "HD" (so 1080p), but it was still incredible quality. HBO Max level at least, where it's not 4K, but it somehow looks way better than standard 1080p.

Calling it now (though this is technically like my fourth time now)... Kim doesn't die. Gene is *in* Nebraska, Kim is *from* Nebraska. I seriously doubt that's a coincidence. And I'm betting they have some kind of reunion in that timeline, as fleeting and bittersweet as it might be.

I'd bet just about anything they don't devote seven entire episodes to the Gene storyline. I think we no doubt eventually spend more time there this season than we have in the past, but no way it's for seven episodes.

My guess would be...

- Season 6, Episodes 1-7 = basically wrap up the Jimmy/Kim/primary Better Call Saul timeline, and Kim "leaves" the show in whatever capacity by the end of episode seven.

- Season 6, Episodes 8-14 = time jump from 2004 to 2008ish, just before or during the initial events of Breaking Bad, where we get some kind of Saul Goodman plot-line and a Walter White cameo, really connecting the two series, mixed with some kind of extended Gene plot-line, in whatever format they're going to tell it. Maybe it's told across the beginning of each of the seven episodes, or maybe it's just the season finale, told all at once.

That said, I'm almost assuredly going to be wrong, just taking a wild guess based on what context clues we've been given so far (by both the show and the creators).

Also, just FYI, we've never used spoiler tags for shows that aren't on Netflix/aren't binge-able upon release. In other words, for as long as I can remember, weekly series have always been fair game, the second an episode ends. So just don't click in the thread if you haven't yet seen the latest episode. It's pretty simple.

My only question is why did whoever Nacho was talking to on the phone want to keep him in the hotel room for so long instead of just having the crew (including the twins) snatch him up? Were they waiting to see if someone was sent to pick him up and then they'd trail him? Also, who did Nacho think he was talking to on the phone in the first place? The same people who handled the raid on Lalo's place?
Jugstore Cowboy

Nacho was talking to Tyrus (Fring's guy). Tyrus had to have known Salamenca men would be going to the hotel because they had Mike put the fake document with the hotel number written on it in Nacho's safe, which Bolsa found. So Tyrus told Nacho to stay there and shoot anyone who came through the door, presumably hoping he would die in a shootout?
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
That still doesn't quite add up, though. Either that, or I'm just not getting it…

- Tyrus tells Nacho to stay put at the motel, thinking Salamanca's men will eventually show up/kill Nacho in a shootout, based on the evidence/document they planted in Nacho's safe.

- Nacho purposefully tells Tyrus he's going to bolt, knowing Tyrus will likely call the guy watching Nacho (so Nacho can confirm he's been betrayed).

- As predicted, Tyrus of course calls the guy watching Nacho, but then Salemanca's guys/the twins show up minutes/seconds later, implying that Tyrus *told* Salamanca's guys to show up.

So, if Tyrus/Gus wanted Nacho dead, why didn't Tyrus just contact Salamanca's guys earlier? Why the waiting game? I know they had to wait to plant the fake document, but then why/how did Salamanca's guys show up literally minutes if not seconds after Nacho told Tyrus he was going to bolt?
torrid

If Gus and Tyrus told the Salamancas where Nacho was, they would need a story for how they knew. Instead, Mike planted the document with the hotel phone number at Nacho's house. The twins showing up just after Nacho talked to Tyrus was just a writer's room coincidence.

Keeping Nacho in the hotel room was initially to buy time for Fring to figure out the fallout and survey the playing field after the attack. They needed time to find out the details of the attack and it took them a few days to find out Lalo was still alive. Fring needed that time to figure out how best to leverage Nacho or if he needed to cash him in at all.

What other shows are on right now that you think are at this level?

It also feels like the end of an era for me, but I think there probably is more good tv out there than ever. It's just so fragmented now because there are so many shows on so many services that nothing seems to have a broad impact anymore.

The problem might just be us getting older and not getting into "new" stuff as easily.

Yeah... It seems to me that between BB, GoT, the Americans, and a few others, I was watching something live on TV every other night. After those all ended, I was watching nothing except BCS when it was on. I even considered cutting the cord since I was only watching Netflix. I'm glad I didn't after reading everybody complaining about AMC+ and stuff.

There are fewer A+ shows right now, but the number of B+ to A shows currently airing are probably the most we've ever seen.

Thank you. I will go ahead and subscribe to AMC+ for a month to catch the first half of the season, and then another 2 months at the end of summer for the end.

Just FYI, when season 5 was airing, the AMC bitrate was also terrible on Dish Network. I had completely forgotten about that, and was mad at myself for having to watch crappy quality last night (on my current YTTV subscription).

While I don't have Apple TV, I subscribe to AMC+ through my Prime Video app and it acts like the AMC+ content is just additional content available on Prime. There were no commercials for me. At first I was going to try to download AMC+ as a separate app juts like every other streaming service, but there wasn't one on my google play store on my android tv. I agree, it definitely is a mess but using Amazon as a middle man seems to work the best
