I know a few people that need explosives, drugs, and violence to tolerate great storytelling. There has been less of it in BCS.

The culprit is AMC. Nobody has cable anymore and sure as **** nobody has AMC+.

Guarantee if these were dropping on Netflix they would be massive.
It boggles the mind they took TWO YEARS to drop s5 on Netflix. like, 1-2 weeks before the season premiere? what were they thinking???

I think AMC bears the blame for BCS's lack of popularity. They could have done such a better job marketing the show.

Just want to say- I get a kick out of the music. Gilligan and Gould are definitely yacht rock fans, the list continues. We hear Toto's "Georgy Porgy" during the Mike/Car smuggle scene.

I'll have to do a deep dive- but one of my favorites waS Todd singing Dr Hook's "Sharing the Night Together" in El Camino. I roll down my window every time in honor of Todd

Our country of TV watchers sucks. They obviously don't know good TV and would rather watch jeopardy every day
I was with you until you disparaged Jeopardy!

Yes, like running a promo contest where winner and friend win trip to Albuquerque and take part in a scam role play with kim/jimmy written by the show
runners or a cartel mission with Mike/Nacho/Salamancas. Would have generated so much word of mouth!

There is no way Lalo could scramble through that tiny window without making a bunch of noise. Just silly.

He opened the window and escaped through another door

At some point, I had decided Lalo was partially based on the Dos Equis guy. The way he seduced Werner's widow cements that.

Why do several BB season 2 episodes have 0 viewers? That makes no sense. That a loss of data or something?

Whoever made the graph probably couldn't find data for them.

Also, I suspect way, way more people have watched BCS on Netflix than on AMC.

You are right. I watched all the way until Season 5 on Netflix. I heard somewhere that Netflix and BB sorta saved each other.

There wasn't much advertising for Breaking Bad either. Never heard of it until threads started popping up about on Texags.

That was one of my all time favorite scenes in the BB/BCS universe considering the circumstances. Jesse Plemons was absolutely perfect for the Todd role.

I subscribed to AMC+ specifically to see the final season of BCS. I will cancel as soon as the season ends.

The stupid AMC+ app on my Roku will NOT stay logged in. I'll log in when the show starts, then halfway through the show it stops streaming and I half to log in again. Part of the reason may be that I use different e-mails for Roku and AMC+. Logging with the Roku remote in is so cumbersome I've resorted to watching it on my laptop.

I liked my Roku at first, but just like everyone else they are starting to piss me off. Rather than subscribe directly through a service, they want you to do it through your Roku account where they take a cut. That is the same BS that drove basic cable from $15 to $200 a month.

Is there one or two episodes left for this first half?

Regarding BB vs BSC numbers, I know a lot of people that watched BB and then claimed BSC is just too slow for them and haven't gotten past the first season.

The funny thing is I thought a lot of the episodes in the first couple of seasons seemed like a slow grind but now I watch the new episodes every Monday and I feel like they fly by in about 15 minutes it's all so good.

I was one of those people…the first three or so episodes were brutal. Saul doing those hit and run schemes with the kids on the skateboards etc…didn't hold my interest but I stuck with it hoping it would get better once we met Chicken Man.

I've described it like this. Breaking Bad was more of a plot-driven show. Better Call Saul is more of a character-driven show.

thats what makes BCS so good imo. it was almost an entirely different show Season 1 than now. Watching it slowly evolve into the breaking bad universe is what makes it special.

I was not a fan of the Chuck electromagnetic condition. I was glad when he died and that was over forever. It has noticeably picked up after that, IMO.

I agree that storyline with Chuck was long-winded, but I think it's pretty realistic. Bunch of good/bad history between people that cannot ever get quite right.

After seeing how my parents bicker and fight with their siblings, I think it was spot on. There is caring and love, but resentment from things or disagreements that often happened as kids/teens. It just boils over in adulthood.

I don't mean the arguing. That was the good part. I'm talking about living in aluminum foil house, being afraid of cell phones, and all that crap.

I think the Chuck storyline was crucial for the evolution of Jimmy into Saul. Slippin' Jimmy would never have finished law school, even if by correspondence, had Chuck not taken him out of Chicago.

ABQ Jimmy as least TRIED to make an effort to be good, even if the deck was stacked against him. In fact now that I think about it, Chuck was a big part of of the deck being stacked against him. When Jimmy discovered that betrayal, it allowed him to quickly fall back into his con artist persona, only now with a law degree.

That's how you get Saul Goodman.

Of course, you also need to analyze the effect of Kim on Slippin' Jimmy/ABQ Jimmy/Saul.

Agreed, it takes a lot of nuance to get a sleazy lawyer. You need someone studious enough for law school and the bar, the edge to represent people that likely have done really bad things, and the personality to like things that are low-brow or things that specifically come easy. Chuck and his illness kind of caged Jimmy into becoming Saul Goodman.

As Kim told Chuck, "You made him this way".

Jimmy has a good heart underneath, but his desire for showmanship and the influence of seeing his father get taken advantage of all those years...combined with his hatred of Howard and Chuck for shutting him out...created the "I don't care what anyone thinks, I'm gonna take on the system and do it with style" persona that became Saul Goodman.

Even in BB, there was still a bit of humanity left in there.

With BB, Walter started out as a wimp and Jesse was a punk...it took a few seasons to make Jesse the character to root for. Even Hank was obnoxious in the first couple of seasons. What I love about BCS is that from the first episode on, I continue to root for Jimmy and Kim. You see their likeability and good intentions, despite their mistakes. Mike too.
