Watched this show LIVE back in the day. Really miss it. What a great show. Fun to rewatch and see stuff I had forgotten or missed.

Season 1 was more awesome than I remember!

Was going to say that streaming doesn't come with the suspense of wondering if there will be a mail robot sighting in the next week's episode.

To those wondering, they may slow down a bit the last couple of seasons but it's worth it for the finale... and to actually see a show in this day and age unafraid to show the brutality of communism.

We watched season 1 last January before covid and then got distracted by something else. Came back in March or April and plowed through the last 6 seasons in about a month. One of few shows I've watched that I was really sad to see end.

This show was so good that it simultaneously spawned and ruined 80s period pieces. Now anytime you see a show set in the 80s it feels cheesy and played out like that Jeff Garlin sitcom.

The Martha story was just brutal.

An awesome exchange I don't remember is when Elizabeth tells Granny near end of S1 "this isn't going to end well for you old lady".

Such cold, brutal frankness that is almost hilarious too!

The show was really good at first, but the burn just became so slow that I lost interest around season 4. Never finished.

I had the same problem with Mad Men. You might want to give another shot.

One thing that is really great about this show is how smart all the main players are. Yet nobody is clairvoyant. Sometimes shows cheat by making the "smart" guy 3 steps ahead of everybody else (because the writers know all the steps already... It's easy to make one guy 3 steps ahead). This show doesn't do that. It's like a 6 season long chessmatch between a bunch of grandmasters.

Keri Russell is THE quintessential television series actress.

It's a shame she hasn't gotten more, but I think she just didn't want/need it.

She's not done for sure, but she could have been in a lot more!

Enjoyed her character arc vis a vis Rhyse's as the story progressed.

Coincidentally, I started watching this show just as this thread began. I'm just to Season 1, Episode 8.

I'm enjoying it. Very well acted.

I haven't seen so many sex scenes since the Saturday night Midnight Frolics at the old Campus Theater at A&M circa 1968.

Fantastic show, got better as the seasons rolled on. The finale was epic! Ok, I'm going to rewatch myself now!!

I'm in the middle of Season 2 right now. Trying to watch an episode or 2 every day. Very good show.

There is nostalgia in an odd sort of way. The characters are great. Their inner struggles dealing with the way they were raised and the tenets of Communism vs the American way of life.

Sounds crazy but I can't wait to get to the end and see how.it all goes down.

Maybe nostalgia wasn't the correct word. I grew up during that time and remember many of the political and world events occurring in the series. I don't feel necessarily the nostalgia for the cars or Intellivision or much of the technology. Mainly I remember the Cold War and what we were taught about the Soviet Union.

Yeah, I agree with all that. I think the key is that it was done so well. They nailed the 80s, but also told a very compelling story. It sort of helped spawn an 80s trend in tv shows/movies lately and most of them are just terrible in comparison.

It's taken me several months, but I'm finally nearing the end of the series (again). I've got 3 episodes left and it's just as friggin' good as I remember when I watched it on FX 5 years ago.

Just love this show all the way around.

(and it's inspired me to go back and listen to more Talking Heads music)
