The other thing we haven't discussed with Sam is that moving teams (in this case) doesn't really make much sense for him career wise.

Even if Casablanca does become a superclub, it'll take years and he'll waste the prime of his career at a club playing lower tier matches and opponents. It would also be more impactful for him to become a true star somewhere and then make a move to a club like that.

My theory is that they start off in in, but it's not working and they make a switch tactically and win the game. Maybe there's a blow-up between Ted et al. and Nate in the process. But when asked later about the failed strategy, Ted takes responsibility.

ORRRRR... maybe it's even Jamie that rebels against the gameplan and Roy has to decide who to back - Nate or Jamie (the guy who's in love with his Keeley).

I also think the "closer to home" thing is funny.

Casablanca is only 2 hours closer to Lagos than London.

Casablanca is basically Europe in Africa, right?

If we are nit picking with Casablanca, I don't think many Africans wouldn't consider Morocco truly "African" or a point of pride. It's a plot point in a show, so who cares.

Yes, more Muslim and French and even then it is nothing like Sub-Saharan Africa.

Yeah, and it's definitely a distinct cultural region apart from West/Central Africa where Nigeria and Ghana are located.

I think that's the quickest way to bring him back down to earth. Also, I don't think it's a surprise that this all ends with Ted heading back home to be with his son. So someone has to be around to take over the team. Nate and Roy are the perfect brains and brawn combination.

I think it's more a difference between north Africa and Sub Saharan Africa. Morocco itself is pretty great but very different than the rest of the continent or even the rest of North Africa

I think it starts to backfire, Ted says they need to move away from it, and Nate blows up on him, calling him an idiot and wondering when he'll have his next panic attack about it, basically admitting to Beard and Roy what Ted already knows, that Nate leaked the info to Trent Crimm (The Independent).

There's no way Nate gets rewarded for his actions. He'll be lucky if he keeps his job.

Didn't the actor who plays him say Nate was gonna be really hated at the end of the season? I think it's going to get worse next episode. No healing until season 3

Well he kind of said it gets worse before it gets better but let the whole season play out. As I recall.

Dumb question about when Nate spit on the mirror in this last episode: was it another stupid attempt at an alpha dog move, or was it a sign that he realized how ridiculous his desire to be "the man" had become and he was mad at himself for even trying to be something he's not? I ask because I assume he leaked the panic attack story to Trent Crimm (The Independent) prior to that scene, so he may already regret it and come clean to Ted on his own since it was too late to retract it at that point. Or am I misinterpreting that scene?

Correct. It's is power move. He did it to psych himself up at the fancy restaurant with his folks.

The last week one. When Ted got the text and Nate was revealed.

I think both are true, he is also disgusted with what he is doing.

I don't think Nate currently has the ability to be disgusted with himself. Embarrassed about trying to kiss Keeley, sure. Everything else, he's blind. Like the way he treats the new kit man and not realizing it's how he used to be treated.

In this case, after being embarrassed, he goes to his power move, then rats out Ted to make himself feel better.

He failed making a move on Keely. He was embarrassed. He did the alpha spit to psych himself up to give that story to Trent Crimm of the Independent.

Those always work for me, it's easy to add the creepy music and take things out of context and spoof a stereotypical horror trailer - but I still laugh.

With my kids we'll watch Elf each year then watch the Elf horror trailer on Youtube right after it - laugh every time.

Email blurb I got from The Atlantic this morning:

Quote:

The intrepid reporters at The Athletic's UK operation nabbed a fascinating scoop Monday: "Ted Lasso", the Apple TV smash-hit sitcom centered around an English football team, has secured a licensing deal with the English Premier League office to use EPL assets in the show's next season.

Those caught up with the show know that this Friday's finale features a match that could send the fictional AFC Richmond back up to the Premier League with a win. At least it could be a good spoiler?

Favorite exchange from this week:

Quote:

Nate: Do you guys ever wanna be in charge? Be the boss? Get all the credit?

Beard: You know, we used to believe that trees competed with each other for light. Suzanne Simard's field work challenged that perception, and we now realize that the forest is a socialist community. Trees work in harmony to share the sunlight.

Nate: Can't you just give me a straight answer for once?

Roy: I think he just did

Disappointed they didn't mix in some Rush after that.

Yes, it's just a show with small plot holes, but an inherited billionaire will have MULTIPLE revenue streams that would make Sam soil his shorts if he is so diligent in his thought process while driving his product placement Tesla. Maybe that's what keeps him around for the run up with Richmond next season. He sniffs it out and realizes this is not a true good guy.

Also agree that the whole Sam/Rebecca thing was even too reckless for her new personality of self indulgence instead of thoughtful analysis scheming.

But it's just nitpicking. I think Keely should get Danny a sponsorship with a dog walking company or dog food manufacturer.
