I was totally against the Sam/Rebecca romance, and I thought it should have ended at her front door after the first date, but the way the writers handled it leads me to trust them in the future.

Just now? Just kidding but I figured they would get it right.
I don't care for this particular story line. It's an injustice to Rebecca's character IMO. She's smart enough to not f/ck her players. Picking nits maybe…

Did Nate put grey in his hair so he wouldn't be the Wonder Kid?

He looked significantly older this episode.

His hair has been getting more grey in the last few episodes. Undoubtedly it is an element.

Just feels like there's more to the story on his mom. He's always so quick to say that she was hurt too. So much so that it seems like she did something bad, and he blames his dad for that thing. I don't know what his mom did, could be depression, alcohol, leaving Ted, abuse, suicide, something.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
I kind of wonder if his mom died by suicide as well.

Of all people, Dennis Franchione lost one of his parents when he was a teenager and the other was so despondent that they committed suicide, lost both of his parents in a matter of days.

And also from Kansas too
And also successful enough to be hired for a job for which he was not qualified

And Coach Fran never played the game he coached...

Had catchy feel-good slogan (MTXE - Mental Toughness Extra Effort = BELIEVE) and gimmicks like the Night of Champions...

I'm really starting to worry maybe Ted IS based on Fran

That one scene where we thought Ted was bantr'ing with Rebecca, he was probably sending out the secret weekly email

Ranger fans you're not dreaming! The Rangers are the World Series Champions!

The secret weekly newsletter is actually written by His right hand man Coch Beard who then also gets on RichGreys.com and has argumentative message board fights defending Coach Lasso's honor.

That Rolling Stones rainbow song has been in my rotation ever since that episode. I love how much the music is a memorable part of the show.

Episode is titled "Midnight Train to Royston." Do with that as you wish.

I wonder if it'll start out with Nate not showing up to work, everyone wondering where he went, and showing up for their next match and he's suddenly managing the other team.

I'm briefly going to derail this thread to post all the memorable use of music on Scrubs. These songs always elicit a strong emotional reaction in me. (And now I'm wanting Ted Lasso to have a musical episode...jk...kinda)

First thing that came to my mind was Gladys Knight & The Pips "Midnight Train to Georgia"...

Scrubs perfectly mixed comedy with sadness and emotional moments.

Another one: the Elliot montage with American Girl playing. One of my favorites

It could just mean that their bus breaks down when they're heading to Royston...and they end up on a train...that leaves at midnight...

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Going back to the comments that S2 is "The Empire Strikes Back" I am predicting that...

  • Nate moves on to a team also in promotion range, potentially beating Richmond and preventing them from being promoted.
  • Roy finds out about what Jamie told Keeley and Keeley stumbles enough to piss Roy off. He either goes AWOL or joins Nate on his staff.
  • The Rebecca/Sam romance is found out and becomes a scandal.
  • Same with the panic attacks
  • The last episode ends with Ted and Beard just looking at each other trying to figure out what just happened. Very little hope in sight.
