I just started watching last night and caught up through the finale. Holy ****, this is kind of incredible. JK Simmons is the GOAT and always happy to see Gillian Jacobs. Mark Hamill was such a surprise but duh. This is an insane voice cast for a cartoon.

This show ****ing rocks... makes me want to read the comic but I made that mistake back when the Walking Dead was the biggest thing on tv. Have a feeling that this comic would be better though.

Finished today. That subway scene was horrifically violent and evil. I can't imagine the PTSD from that.

I'm through two episodes so far, I'm a little peeved that the Teen Team or whatever they're called stood on a roof and scouted while the alien were already indiscriminately killing. It seems like because there's no way to save everyone the heroes don't even try.

Great hook the first episode, I'll probably be finishing this series this week. I like the double length episodes it allows for a more developed story.

Finished the season finale last night...this may be my most favorite show of 2021 so far. J. K. Simmons is an acting treasure. His delivery during the fight sequence was so beautifully cold blooded. Loved it!

After all the hype around this show, I finally decided to give it a chance...and im glad i did!

Finished it last night and thought it was fantastic! This would seriously make for a great live action series, but no gripes here about the cartoon! The voice actors in this was off the charts. Amazon really opened their wallet for this.

My 'only' gripe was the disconnect between Invincible's perceived powers by others vs how they actually portrayed them. He basically got his ass kicked by every single person he fought? lol Which made just the basic premise of his superhero name seem absurd.

Just based off recollection; he should have died to the Flaxans, the War Cat guy, the tentacle monster, and the cyborg....basically the only person he actually beat in a fight was the stone dude? lol Idk, i was confused as to why Cecil kept saying "Mark is the only one who can stop Omni Man" b/c it seemed like literally anyone else would have a better chance.

i took it to be an inexperience thing. maybe he's still not sure how powerful he is. a couple of times, it seemed like he unlocked some sort of "rage power" so i'm wondering if he still has some growing to do?

They would have to cut the violence way down...I think. Honestly, I'm not sure I could stomach it if this was live action. Personally, my tolerance for gratuitous violence wanes as I get older.

1. because he is his dad - using the emotional connection.
2. only at the end was his dad actually trying to kill him, until he had a literal change up heart.

also, mark is still relatively untrained with his powers.
He can use them yes, but not effectively.
1. That's not how it came across. They genuinely seemed to think that only a Viltrumite could defeat a Viltrumite. Also they kept making a huge deal about how Omni Man/Mark's dna was indestructible but both were almost killed by just physical force? Idk, they didn't really do a good job of explaining in what way is a Viltrumite 'indestructible'. Like Monster Girl didn't seem any more or less indestructible than Mark/Omni Man.

2. Never said otherwise lol. Not sure what your point is here.

"Inexperienced" yes, but getting your ass whooped by a single cyborg? lol Idk, i think he was too easily defeated too often based on the way everyone kept talking about him. Also, that tentacle monster was absolutely about to kill Omni Man before Mark showed up, so again, I'm not sure what cecil was talking about.

You have to think about this like other comics. To normal humans, Viltrumites are indestructible and invincible. However, there is always someone bigger and badder. Superman is a god compared to earthlings but there are other entities out there equally as powerful. Same here.

100% he has some 'extra gear' he can get to, but we saw him reach that gear 3(?) times I believe; 1 - Flaxans 2 - The war cat guy+gang and 3 - against his dad.

In all 3 cases, he was still ****ed up lol. Idk, I felt like there was a disconnect in how strong he's supposed to be. Like, even when he used his 'rage powers' against his dad, like, nothing happened. Omni man took a few hits that didn't even phase him before catching Mark's hand and throwing him through the earth. lol idk. Seems like more people agree with you than me, so maybe i just misinterpreted.

I think it was appropriate that his Dad mopped the floor with him considering what the show had shown so far. If he suddenly was matching his dad in strength I think we would all go wtf?

He did literally just get his powers I would fully expect he still has room to grow. I'm glad the show has almost made light of his name by showing he still gets his ass kicked.

I think Cecil just had no other hope, but saying he is the only one who can stop him probably isn't the correct terminology. He is the only one who might get Omniman to stop because he is his son, not because he has a physical chance.

i'm just guessing. i think he probably still has some "growing" to do in regards to his powers. at this point, he didn't even show a real challenge to his dad.

Finished this yesterday as well, excellent series and it appears they put some effort into it and it shows. I think I like everyone except his girlfriend. She knew he was a hero for weeks but still got upset that he was out saving people over their couple plans? Maybe it's teenager immaturity on her part or maybe Mark's fault for making plans he couldn't follow through on. Regardless, have some leniency on your Significant Other when plans fall through because they're out saving the world. Maybe my curmudgeon self has no patience for teenage relationships, but that just seemed unreasonable.

Also I think I like Atom Eve's powers the most. She can basic overwrite reality, that seems super powerful in general.

Lastly the twins stole the spotlight, very cool concept.

I do agree Mark's power level is a bit confusing. You could have written off his lack of par with Dad to the fact that he's a half-breed, so he shouldn't be as a powerful as Dad because he's not pure Viltrumite.

However, in the last episode his dad told him that Viltrumite DNA takes over regardless of his human DNA and he's essentially pure Viltrumite despite his diluted DNA. So, at this point, I guess you have to chalk it up to that he hasn't learned how to maximize his own DNA. That's always been a weird arc with superheroes to me. You are either super human or you're not. Your powers don't adjust just because you are a beginner.

But that would ruin story lines for a lot of origin stories so I get why they do that.

this is probably key to later in the story, if i was guessing. she could have made a big impact to help mark against his father, i think.

I believe his dad said very early on that the Viltrumite powers are like a muscle. I think the reasoning is that he hasn't trained up his power like his dad has, who is probably hundreds or thousands of years old just based on the "Viltrumite Conquest Montage". His dad was apparently one of the highest ranking warriors in the empire and the scene suggests he only achieved that by a lot of conquest and killing.

Regardless I think this is the only explanation for why Mark hasn't beaten many foes, his powers aren't an on/off switch and he has to train them.

I don't think she was upset that he was out saving people, I think she was upset that he didn't trust her enough to tell her (at least based on what I remember from the show). I can understand where she is coming from insofar as he had no problem asking her to wait for him when he wasn't around (i.e. give him full trust that he would return to her) and asking her to give him multiple chances when he kept breaking his promises (like missing dinner with her Mom), but he wasn't willing to give that trust back.

I loved that the story was willing to go to that level of emotional detail since the mainstream superhero genre doesn't really touch on that.

Really enjoyed show. Disappointed they changed the source material to be more woke.
