Mine come in tomorrow but I feel the same. Not sure I can pull them off either.

Honest question for you and others who buy shoes but later decide you "can't pull them off"… What is the tripping point that would make you return a pair you liked enough to buy?

They look "too young" for you.
They are just too fancy.
I'm not cool enough to wear these.
You don't have any clothes that really pair well.
Other?

I have these thoughts when considering certain pairs that are beyond basic and vacillate b/w "just have fun and buy what you like", or if going that route will make me the old guy wearing something he "can't pull off".

For me it is 100% that they are high tops. As a short person I don't own any high tops at all. I thought the resale price on these might settle closer to some previous A Ma releases which prompted me to make the purchase. I had visions of flipping these for a premium NB collab.

I should have known better, the sneaker market is dead…which is ok.

For this pair, I actually do like them, but also didn't expect to hit on them (LOL). I've been wanting a pair of threes or fours, but also I'm tough on shoes and would feel too bad about wearing these around and putting creases and scuffs on them. The colors and materials are actually understated enough that I think I'd look fine wearing them with jeans but I'd be worried about them the whole time. It's dumb but it's who I am.

I get this sentiment but I encourage you to treat yourself and rock 'em, crease 'em, and just wipe 'em down every once in awhile. They'll last a long time because the materials are quality, especially if you have them in a rotation and aren't wearing them every day of the week. You'll be glad you did.

Yeah, they aren't going to crease like a cheap pair of dunks. I wear my white pair a lot and you can hardly tell from the upper. And these are black so they'll hide a lot.

Mine finally shipped today, can't wait to put them on feet.

Wow. Any chance you have a "before & after" pic? I didn't even know you could do such a thing as self dying.

I didn't take any before and after pics but I found one from the reddit thread that convinced me to do it.

I'm surprised the red dye doesn't bleed over, especially if you get them wet. They look great… and expensive!
Teddy Perkins

Thanks! The dye would run everywhere if you were dyeing the leather (which is why most use paint, not dye, on leather), but the suede cement material soaks it right up and makes it very easy to work with.

My wife wore these to work for the first time yesterday. The first thing she said when she got home was, "you definitely don't wear 11's for comfort".

I tried to tell her I definitely wear my 11's very selectively.

Aside from the official Adidas UBs, these are my favorite gameday shoes that I feel hit the right maroon shade:

Those are slick. Though to be fair my pic looks a bit washed out, in person the maroon is pretty spot on.

I just finished rewatching Do the Right Thing (I've seen it many times), and despite the heavy topics the movie is about, I can't help but appreciate the sneakers.

This is the entertainment board, so this is about:

Movies With Good Sneakers

-Do the Right Thing had Nikes all around and the iconic Jordan's scuff scene.

-Bill & Ted series had great hightop Adidas. Adidas even made a Bill & Ted hightop line for B&T3.

-Hoosiers Converse All-Stars Chucks

-White Men Can't Jump for the Reebok Pumps

What else can y'all think of for sneakers in movies and TV shows?

Yes, Vans!

Fast Times at Ridgemont High - Spicoli (Sean Penn), smacks a Vans checkerboard pattern sneaker against his head while on the phone with a buddy.

This movie scene incidentally set off the Vans brand; this was what made them nation/world wide.

Also note, that it wasn't the movie crew or wardrobe department that chose those Vans, it was Sean Penn who went to Venice Beach while studying for the character of Spicoli. He saw the local kids rocking Vans and found the checkerboard pattern at a store and bought them himself. Wild!

I'll offer three.

- The Terminator: Nike Vandals

- Back to the Future 2: self-lacing Nikes

- Forrest Gump: Nike Cortez
