Changed the neck to a Mighty Mite regular carve with jumbo frets. Old neck was a Warmoth extra-chunky soft-V carve. As I'm getting older and not playing that much I'm kind of drifting away from fat necks.

My first three guitar builds have all used Warmoth necks. But on this build, I am doing everything myself. This weekend I carved my first neck carving rounded off the shoulders with a giant round over bit on the routing table. This got me about 1/2 way there and most importantly did a great job of doing the hard part near the fretboard. The rest I did by hand with rasps, file and sanding. Probably 5 hours of work.

Curious about books yall have enjoyed in the music genre lately. Some of my recent books.

The Birth of Loud - Ian Port
- A nice intertwined history of Leo Fender and Les Paul.

Petty: The Biography - Warren Zanes
- One of my favs growing up and the author got interviews from everyone in his circle.

Heartbreaker: A Memoir - Mike Campbell
- In the queue, since I just finished Petty and Mike was so instrumental in all those hits.

The Storyteller - Dave Grohl
- Stuck in the airport, so needed something for the flight. Should be an entertaining read.

String Theories - Adam Levy
- Always looking for ways to improve my playing; especially for a late learner. Some is over my head, but good ideas. Saw it from a Josh Scott book video.

Did you start with a neck blank that already had the truss installed?

No, I did everything myself. Roasted maple neck blank from Stewmac. Ebony fretboard blank from Exotic wood source. I used a Stewmac template to cut out the neck. Shaper Origin to cut the fretboard blank, cut the fret slots and route the fret dots placement. Routed the truss rod channel for a hot rod truss rod. Placed gold abalone fret markers. Sanded the radius by hand. Installed the frets which I have leveled and coarsely rounded ready for polishing. Then finally carved the neck.

It took way to much time, but I've built 3 guitars now with Warmoth necks and I wanted to take the next step.

Awesome. I have zero word working skills and I'm envious of your talent! It's a perfect match for GAS.

This neck is going to be attached to this body. Mango is the top wood. P90's.
I'm starting to run out of places to put all my builds though. Sooner or later, I'm gonna have to find people to sell too.

The good news is that when I start building to sell, my goal will be not to lose money, but also not to make any money.

That's the loophole I use to get around the "why do you need another guitar?" questions from the wife.

Well done. My buddy builds really nice parts casters. He'll bring in stuff a piece at a time as he acquires through purchase, trades, etc., so she never notices him walking in a full "new" guitar.

I've been away from my guitars for a couple of months. Got bored and decided to tinker with another Chibson.

I got this a couple of months ago but just haven't messed with it until now. I polished the frets, which is needed on almost every one I've come across. It plays well. Pickups are meh, but I seldom keep stock pickups in guitars so that's no big deal. I have a set of Fishman Fluence Classics waiting to go in.

ebay. Google les paul ebay and all kinds will come up. Look for ones that advertise as coming from a local warehouse (California). As far as which shop to go with, it's a crapshoot.

Example- https://www.ebay.com/itm/406726913363?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=406726913363&targetid=2530974252157&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9028644&poi=&campaignid=23644992936&mkgroupid=202650468428&rlsatarget=pla-2530974252157&abcId=10603832&merchantid=5622891277&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23644992936&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh_uQ9PdkR5MDLYC3kIlx_8YE&gclid=CjwKCAjw-J3OBhBuEiwAwqZ_h_-wmY3rgxwBEG_Qtaodi5qj9iH-dHKRVWb8HzfVwT-f4myU5sIhYBoC2kEQAvD_BwE

Most of mine have started with 0170......a couple have had 6-digit numbers. One had no number.

My next project is to ****-can my Boss Katana II 100 watt 212 and go back to a proper tube amp. The Katanas are cool for what they are, but I'm ready to go back to the old-fashioned way of doing things without a computer hook-up or phone app.

I'm looking for something in the 5-15 watt range, 10 or 12 inch spekaer, $300-$500 in good used condition. Such as-

Fender Bassbreaker 15

Marshall Origin 20

Fender Blues Jr

Peavey Classic 30

etc.

I found a Bassbreaker 15 in great shape for $299 today at a guitar repair shop that sells a lot of used stuff. He is interested in taking my Katana in trade. Honestly the two times I've played the Bassbreaker amps I've really liked them.

Played my LP today, for an hour. There is something special about the way that guitar feels in my hand. The Custom Shop LP I had, which I paid twice the price as my Standard, just didn't touch it on feel.

I pulled the trigger and so far, so good.

My next choice might have been the Marshall, but the closest good deal is about 5 hours away from me. The one I tried in a store a couple of years ago was pretty cool though.

I've always thought the Blues Jrs sounded boxy.

After routing a neck pocket, cavities for pickups and an electronics cavity, my guitar build was still too heavy, so I decided to add lightness by subtraction in kind of a unique way. Don't know if this makes it a semi hollow body, but it now has its own carrying handle, lol.

I made this body from scratch myself. I chose an exotic wood (Lati) that I knew was dense and heavy. I could have chambered it, but decided to do something different.

I went to a local wood supplier. I bought a 6 ft piece that was very straight grained and I'm using it for all kinds of projects. The color scheme for this guitar is yellow/gold and I figured it would be a good match for the Mango wood top.
