Remember that teenager I mentioned that I see in GC once in awhile and we chat music and his parents keep buying him more and more Player Strats?

I saw him yesterday at the counter when I was in GC. He had a string winder in his hand. I said "No new guitar today?"

He pointed at a new bass on the other counter. And he had a new bass amp in a box on the floor next to him.

I hope they have a spare room where he can keep all this stuff. He's got quite a collection going.

I want to work at a place that gives out guitars when you get promoted.

Move to Maryland and work for PRS. Instead of five year anniversary plaques you get employee guitars at cost.

The fiesta red would have been my first choice, but this is what they had and I was in a buying mood. Love the neck, the slab rosewood, clay dots and the playability of the radius. One day in and I'm so happy. No tremolo bar in the case though, so I'm a bit peeved at my local music store. Have to go back. Not sure if the bar is super specific to this model, but I want to make sure what they give me is correct. If anyone knows let me know.

We have an Oscar Schmidt (by Washburn) that is my wife's guitar from the past. She hasn't played in a long time. My son used it for a bit but it was tough to play.

I had a professional setup done on it and put on new strings and it is much better. But it doesn't get much play because I use my electric or my PRS acoustic if I'm grabbing something.

Would you be interested in something like that?

You'll have to go used. Nothing new in that price range is going to be decent without a setup that will cost almost as much as the guitar.

You can usually find a used Yamaha F335 for 100-150 which are decent.

I've never played one of these but a lot of people online like these $99 Tanglewoods. I think there is one with a pickup for $20-30 more.

Nice! What pickups did you end up putting in there?

I was keeping the cost down for my first build so I ordered a Musiclily loaded pick guard with "alnico 5 pickups".

I actually have to take it apart and re-solder a connection because I think it's loose. I haven't had a chance to do that yet.

Also will probably replace the nut because I think the B&E strings are too loose in it. Or, do you know of a way to fill those grooves? I've only ever replaced one nut before and that was because the original one broke.

Any recommendations for a used telecaster. Something I can play for a while and resale at the same value incase I hate it

I do not know of a way; I would just replace the nut. That's work I've never actually done myself, so can't speak to it other than what I've seen on YouTube.

Just look at craigslist or fb marketplace. You'll see lots of US teles listed at $1200-1300 but deals will be available at $900 with just the slightest patience especially if color is not important.

If you're wanting to swan dive in there is a Lake Placid Blue American Original 60's listed in Austin at $2000. I think it's probably a fair buy at $1800.
