Not familiar with Mesa boogie amps, so don't really know the tone they are known for. It looks to have 6L6 tubes, so is it meant to be like a Bassman?

With 50w or 25w modes, on 6L6 tubes, that's a loud amp.

I've never actually gotten my hands on one before. First I ever heard of them was Mark Tremontj using a triple rectifier. Even this one is way more amp than I can effectively use. We've got plans tonight so I'm not going to be able to mess with it until tomorrow. It does have a foot switch for the channels so that's cool.

I got a couple minute window while most people were out of the house to mess with the amp. It sounds really good. I almost sound like I know what I'm doing. It is also super loud on the 25W setting. Quarter of the way up was shaking nearby furniture. I may have to be lazy about putting it up for sale and hope gigs pick up and my wife forgets it's there.

I ordered a Peavey 6505mh today. Free 2 day shipping so hopefully I can play it on Thanksgiving assuming I can hook it up to my Marshal dsl40c. This will be my first head. Also ordered a cab but it'll take longer to get to me.

Once upon a time I had a Marshall AVT150 head with a 4x12 cab. I had no legitimate reason to have it, but man was it fun to play with.

The cab I ordered is just a 1x12, but if I just call it a cab people can assume whatever they want

I had a Mesa/Boogie Nomad 100 (head and 2x12 cab) when I was playing in high school. I never turned it to 100W mode, only 60W and that mother was LOUD. 3 channel, sounded amazing. I wish I could have kept it but it was too big, too loud, and I don't gig anymore.

Flipped the switch to 50W earlier today. It was big loud. I freaking love this thing.

I have a 100w Carvin 2x12 combo. I don't think I've flipped the switch part the 25w it was on when I bought it off Craigslist. One time I ran a long cable to an adjacent room and put it in 5. Shook the f'ing walls.

Mesa Boogie was THE hard rock and metal amp until Peavey took the original EVH amps and modded them when he left. You had Marshall, then Soldano SLO 100, mesa, then peavey.

I'm not the Fender authority, but $600 seems stolen or or fake to me.

I checked with the seller and asked him the story and he answered back and said it was one he built.

at least he is straight up about it when asked. Just wonder how many great looking deals are out there that are just a pure con? How does one know whether something is real or not any more, especially with the huge push for relic'ing?

Agree, but its an hour's drive away, and I don't know what I'm looking for if it is off brand or tribute type of stuff. Guess I'm going to stick to brand new from the licensed dealer or a guitar from a good rep guitar shop...

It's easy. You call Fender, or Gibson, etc. Run the serial number by them and confirm. If it's older, there are other ways to verify date and such. They verify serial numbers all the time.

I could tell from the fretboard it wasn't a custom shop.

Reverb can be a great place to buy a guitar. Just check the reviews for the seller and verify the serial number. I have bought over 10 guitars off reverb and never had an issue.

Yes, but that doesn't always give you all the details, or allow you to confirm if there were any changes to the guitar. Both companies have good customer service, and calling allows you to have a back and forth conversation.

This is especially true for custom shop guitars.
