I prefer hardtail bridges and I've flirted with the idea of getting an avenger. I have 4 Schecters, they're great instruments.

New Guitar Day has arrived again. It's like it and my Tremonti are brothers from another mother.

Why is the HAL9000 in your house?

I'm gonna have to do some homework in this one. All four pots on the Standards are push/pull now too.

That's a lot of fancy. I'm assuming coil splits for both pickups and then an out of phase pot. Don't know what the 4th would be.

If it's the same as the Trad Pro, I think it's coil splits, phase, and then picking which coil.

You didn't download an owners manual yet?

It actually came with all the case candy. There's a sealed Gibson bag where I'd assume that would be. I almost don't want to open it.

Marvelous.

Opened up the control cavity on the LP and it's a circuit board with four push pulls. So basically to replace anything is to replace almost everything. It'll still probably happen, but it's gonna be a minute.

Emerson kit. By far the most high quality components you can buy. Custom made PIO caps, and special order CTS pots that are better than you can buy anywhere else.

Yeah, that's what I did with that Epiphone I have. Emerson kit and a pair of Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. It's just another $300+ purchase to replace pickups and pots so I'm gonna have to wait a bit. These don't sound completely awful like what came in the Epi though so not as big a rush.

I'll probably catch flak for this, but I don't hate MGK's signature schecters. One is on sale for GC's deal of the day

To each his own.

I think you should get it and use it in your Vixen tribute band.

I just said I didn't hate it, not enough to buy one though

Stopped by the new GC in the Woodlands yesterday. Decent selection of entry level guitars. They had a Platinum Room for guitars over $1k with a smattering of Fender CS and Murphy Lab Gibsons.

I think it will do fine in this area and much less sketchy area than the North Houston location. A bonus was employees asking if I needed help. Granted they've been open only a few days, so time will tell on customer service.

GC in general is so weird. Seems like a lot of times their employees are just irritated you're there.

Not a guitar player but my daughter is. Looking for any good suggestions for amps. She has a small one that she takes to lessons with her but wants a better one for the house.

She wants a bigger amp?

Or one with more features?

Some of the smaller amps like the Spark 40 and the Yamaha THR and the Katana Air have a lot of volume for a small amp. Even my Spark Mini will crank.

If a little bigger is the desire, yeah, the Katana mentioned earlier is good. I almost got one of those instead of the mini but wanted something portable for now.

Here is a quick review of several smaller amps.

She's looking for one with more features. Thanks for sharing the video, that was really helpful!

"Better" is very subjective. Does she have any opinion on the matter? What type of music does she play? Is she wanting a bunch of built in effects, or simply a great tone to eventually assignment with pedals?

Apologies for my vagueness, she wants something with more functionality than this little one we bought for her for lessons, specifically with reverb and distortion. Nothing too crazy yet as she is still somewhat of a beginner.

I have a Fender Champion amp, which has a little more functionality (chorus/reverb/distortion/wah/etc) and various cabinet modeling without feeling like a "full modeling amp". It's just classic knobs and no menus like your photo.

Boss Katana 50W. I have the 100W and use it for monthly Church gigs, but could easily get by with the 50W.
Very good sounding amps with built in distortion, delay, and tons of other effects.,

Very happy with my Yamaha THR10ii. Perfect size for just playing alone at the house. Will get plenty loud, lots of different sounds you can make. I liked the sound significantly better than the spark, but that's subjective.

If you can check them all out in-store, do so.

Got the purple PRS on Facebook if anyone is interested. I can come off the price, just had to fluff it up for Facebook since no one ever wants to pay the listed price.

I have a VOX ac10, which I really like, but to be honest, most of the time when I'm playing just for fun I use my little Spark mini. The app is a blast and you can get any sound you want out of all their programmable "pedals".
