I guess I need to call them when I buy then. One thing I do with the smaller places is put a guitar in my cart, go far enough through the checkout process to enter my email, and then bail. A lot of them send a 10-15% discount within 24 hours.

That does make me really curious what their profit margins are given how quickly they'll just drop 10% off the price.

My example is....dated.....but

30 years ago I bought a guitar at a local pawnshop/music store. THe music store side was a new equipment dealer but obviously also had used equipment.

I bought a guitar that had been dropped by someone in the store and it left a visible chip on the top. Didn't crack through the paint but looked like the type of divot you'd see if you have a bb sized pebble in your shoe and walk on a wood floor.

It was discounted 50% and being sold as 'used' due to the cosmetic damage. No reason to doubt the owner of the store as he was a long time friend of the family.

I'm sure even w/that single example though it probably depends on the make/model.

Any guitar store can easily give you 10-15% off of what they list at. If you don't ask, then you are overpaying.

I actually just picked up a used Fender 1957 Champ Reissue from Guitar Center Central Houston. I've wanted one as a travel amp for a long time, and came across it. They had it listed at $724, but I told them I would walk out with it for a 15% discount. We agreed on $619 and now I have it.

Just an amp, so wasn't going to post pics of it. I'm also tired and full of steak from a manufacturer lunch, so am taking a nap.

I took lessons in high school and the kid before me was headed to being that good rapidly. One day I went to my lesson and my guitar teacher said he decided he didn't like guitar and quit.

Had a good quarter, so think it's time to at least check on a custom shop order price. I got my Sweetwater SE to send over the order form, and just submitted it for pricing. I'm also going up to Fuller's to see what they will quote me for the same order. I'm fairly confident Fuller's will give me the best pricing, but it's always best to get quotes from multiple sources.

The order is literally my current 60's Tele Custom build but with a few changes like the Candy Green paint, closet classic finish, and figured maple neck. No way to link the guide, but if anyone's curious on all the specs, i'm happy to list them out.

What is the timeframe for a build?

Can't wait to see it!

Sweetwater shows 6-18 months.

We'll see what Fuller's says, once I go up there.

The only Tom Anderson I ever got to hold in my hands was superb.

Yeah, Fuller's always has a few. John always tries to get me to play them... he really wants me to buy one.

Anyone else cringe when they see this…..hopefully their is some padding

I would have to look and see if the original necks were quartersawn or flatsawn.

I may be imagining being able to feel it, though I know it is scientifically true, but my quartersawn necks always seem sturdier/solid than my guitars without.
