That Silver Sky SE that I tried out yesterday felt really good. I don't have much experience with electrics yet but that one was so easy to play. I've been playing an acoustic with 11's for the past year. This was like butter.

It's a good thing I don't want one that green color they have or I would have left with it.

Going Christmas shopping, tomorrow. Gonna have to also stop by Fullers and the GC off Westheimer... see what may be there.

I still need to go to Fullers. Never been. I plan to remedy that by New Year's.

Fuller's is the best acoustic shop in town, bar none. My buddy works there, so I frequent it. If you're in the market for any range of acoustic, from cheapest to most expensive, they've got your covered. Not *as* good for electrics, but not bad either.

The only place with a better electric selection is the main Houston GC. I don't know of another guitar store in town with more quality instruments. If you do, I'd love to know.

Also, who's your buddy? Eric? John?

That's the Central GC. The Houston Guitar Center is the one off Westheimer.

Okay. I'm going to ask again, so you know it is an honest question. What other store in the greater Houston area has a better Electric selection?

Not in number of guitars, but in quality of guitars. I would love to have another place to add to my guitar safari locations.

Interesting to hear her stories about these--would have been more fun to hear her play them. She did talk about which songs she played some of them on. A bunch of them smwere just really pretty.

She ended saying that as you get older you can't play them all, so that means she keeps the ones she really loves playing???

Went by Fullers and the big GC to try out some Gibson R0's. I've always been intrigued by their reissues, but there really aren't a lot of places I can go and play several.

Was enjoying the one at GC, but then some bozo came into the platinum room, plugged in a ****ty guitar to a huge amp, and started pounding away at what had to be over 120db. Couldn't hear a damn thing, after that.

Also, I could get a used one for nearly $2K less, on Reverb. But that's still a lot for a guitar without playing it first.

Might be a money thing. Might be normal downsizing that some older people do as they get later in years. My mom has purged a lot of stuff just because she is worried we will have to deal with it someday.

She also has some signature guitars that aren't seen here. There's no telling how many more she has in her collection.

Every time I go to a GC and think I'm going to try out an electric or an amp, I end up with some dude or kids that want to show their skills on the electronic drums.

Happened a few days ago when I finally got to try a Silver Sky SE.

Sometimes it even bleeds over into the acoustic room.

There should be an unwritten rule like the piano in the MSC flag room. No plinkers.

Years ago I was in GC and a 14'ish old Asian kid had a Martin D28, violently strumming Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I note he's Asian because his mom's accent is forever burned in my memory when she shouted "just pick one let's go!"

I just sighed and thought "of course he's going to grab that to play that…"

Yes, I was wildly envious of a kid who's parents would just drop that kind of $ for their kids hobby of the month I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I know a woman who has a teen son that has taken up guitar. I see them in GC once in awhile when I am there.

He plays ok and will sit down and grab a Player series Strat off the wall and plug in and play some classic rock tunes.

I will talk to the mom while he plays. She tells me he doesn't take lessons and is just figuring out stuff on his own. He knows parts of many songs. Doesn't know any whole songs, or didn't the last time I saw them.

Two times that I have been there he has had a new guitar purchased for him. I think he's up to five different Player series Strats now.

The sales kids that work in that GC all come running to him and mom and dad (when he is along for the ride) because they know a sale is coming.

Mom picks out a nice strap for him with each new guitar. Then complains that all of their extra money seems to go to GC.

Damn. Do they want an adopted forty year old?

I'll ask. I used to see mom all the time before my son graduated high school. She worked in the school district and we bumped into each other often. Not so much now. But I will ask if I see her.

Wish people understood how having one amazing guitar is significantly better than 5 good guitars.

New guitar for this guy. It's a really nice gesture and I hope it makes him happy and improves his return on his efforts busking in Barcelona.

Paul Davids' channel is great, and I can listen to Mary Spender talk for hours. What a great speaking voice.

I love her speaking voice. I think she could do something different when she sings that highlights the depth she has in her singing voice. Something about how she uses her upper register doesn't work for me.

Maybe it's the style she is trying to sing. She might to better singing rock instead of folk/pop.
