Yep; I asked. They don't have a route for a Tele that includes a jazzmaster style bridge, which is what I would need. They also don't have a route for a TV jones in the bridge position.

Speaking of Warmoth I heard they're revamping their website, so they may not have much showing online right now.

I'm a little surprised they wouldn't be interested in programming it into their CNC.

Purchase done. I bought the Sonic Blue Strat! Can't wait to get it in hand. I'm still keeping my American Original because it's never a bad thing to have two strats.

congrats man! that was a beautiful strat. can't wait to hear your review after you get it in and have some time to put it through its paces.

I think you're right. I was looking for a Fender to Gibson scale conversion neck a few days ago but couldn't find them then. I went right to them last night.

Now if they can revamp their shipping time. I bought a fat soft V Tele neck a couple of years ago. It was in stock, but still took over three weeks to get it.

also curious why the cs strats vary so wildly on price. i understand they all have different configurations and materials, etc. but the prices are all over the place.

just trying to learn as much as i can in case i come across one worth snagging some day.

From my experience, a used CS strat should not cost over $3,000. Hell, I bought my CS tele new for $3,250. I think it would depend on how rare and sought after that particular customization is. I personally would not pay over $2,700 for a CS strat. I would also ask any seller to provide the traveler or request the entire spec sheet from Fender. The idea behind the CS is choosing each piece of the guitar.

For example, if you have two CS strats that are EXACTLY the same except for one has a figured neck or birdseye neck, and the other has a plain neck, the CS strat with the figured neck should be worth a bit more. Or, as is the case for my tele, if the neck is quartersawn versus not, it should cost a bit more.

Are the pickups handwound and by whom, will also change the pricing. I don't know if Ash vs Alder changes the pricing at all, but I do love the tone of my Ash bodied tele.

Also, the rosewood for my fretboard is graded as AAA, which I believe has to do with how dark and "rosy" it is? Idk, but my fretboard is absolutely beautiful and dark.

Now, if you are referring to purchasing them new, I believe the same justifications apply. Many resellers will also lower the prices, over time. I bought my tele at Fullers in Houston, and they had it listed at $3,600 when I did. I believe the group they bought with the same specs were $4,000 when they were new. They had mine for about a year before dropping to $3,600. I then told them I would take it if they knocked off 10%. They asked $3,250 and I took it.

I will say, not all CS guitars are great. I would definitely pick one up and play it before making that kind of purchase. I have played several CS teles at Fullers that were not even close to the quality of mine.

EDIT: Also, I don't know if you were referring to my recent purchase, on your comment, but is not at CS strat. It was a custom order for Dave's Guitar Shop with specifc specs you usually find in CS guitars, but it was not a team built guitar, I don't believe.

Was just looking at ebays new payments setup and noticed they will 1099 you depending on state. Have they always done that and I just missed it?

Got a flame maple truss rod cover on eBay. I was a little worried about it matching but it came out nice.

Happy Independence Day, to me!

Loving it, so far. This girl plays better than many custom shop Strats I have tried. Very dark rosewood and a nice 60's Fender neck on it. The finish is a special order ultra-thin Nitro finish, and you can actually see the grain grooves if you look closely at it. This should wear in nice, over many years of playing.

IDK... my first guitar I ever learned on was a Squier strat, and I never thought I would go back to a strat style after getting my first mid-tier guitar. I later bought an American Strat after playing one, because it was so fun to play. I ultimately sold that one but then had to buy another strat about a year later because I missed it so much.

Now I'm a gear snob and so I bought my white American Original not too long ago and have been loving it. However, I didn't realize the nitro finish is actually over a Poly undercoat. My research led me to older American Vintage Reissues or special run guitars with true Nitro finishes. This particular model is special ordered for Dave's Guitar Shop, per their specific specs.

Do I have too many guitars? I also have my Taylor 324ce, '69 Gibson 12-string, and Schecter S-1 Elite not in this picture:

I have all custom shop and AVRI Strats showing up on the Reverb feed, so i'll let you know if i see one.

It looks like Dave's Guitar Shop has had them used a couple of times for around $1,600 (which I found out after I purchased). From what I was seeing on Reverb, all the AVRI strats were around the $1,900-$2,300 price range. If you are a Nitro snob, like me, I believe the AVRI Strats from '12-'17 were Nitro only, no Poly undercoat.

Dave's Guitar has some available, new. They even have an Ash with a transparent blonde finish.

No other guitar is more fun to play in a "sloppy" manner, than a Strat, imo.

Also, that meme made me lol.

Been playing my new strat since Thursday, and spent at least 3 hours playing, throughout today. Definitely the best Strat I have ever played.

If anyone is interested in a Strat and likes a more vintage style instrument, I would highly recommend.

good to hear!

does it not have the aged plastics? or is the light just hitting it a certain way?
Lathspell

That's just the light. Aged plastic pickup covers and knobs, with that vintage very light mint green pickguard. It's a beautiful guitar and I just can't get over how dark the rosewood fretboard is.

Was looking through the StewMac 4th of July deals and ran across their Build Your Own amp kits: https://www.stewmac.com/sale/59-tweed-15w-amp-kit.html

That looks like a blast. Like Legos you get to play with for the rest of your life. Also, will get to understand what's going on in your amp.

Anyone ever do this before? I'm tempted, thought it's not cheap.

i somehow missed this the first time. my first ever guitar was a sunburst squier strat. when i started playing again 20 years later i didn't even think about a strat. i've now got a tele, a les paul and a casino plus an acoustic and my old washburn bass. but of course i now have an insatiable itch that i didn't expect and that won't go away and am now going to shell out way more than any of my other guitars for a..strat.

oooo.... Let us know what you get when you do. You really can't go wrong with any strat.

I will say this, I have owned 5 different Fender guitars, and they were all great. Today, I did some work on my new guitar. Adjusted the truss rod a bit (was too flat), oiled the board, polished the frets, changed the strings, and spent time adjusting all the saddles.

Plays like a dream!

dude. you have to stop telling me about how nice it is. i keep looking at it and looking at it both here and on dave's website.

i was 100% committed to the american original in shell pink but of course they have long lead times right now so i was just looking around at anything else that might grab me. didn't help that my brother just got one. an american professional but still sounds great and fun to play. then you posted your new one. if you passed, i was going to jump on it. now i don't want to be a copy cat lol.

One of the biggest differences between the two, other than the American Original has a poly undercoat, is the nut width. The American Original has a wider fretboard, though both their thickness are similar.

I prefer the '62 reissue because it is most similar to my Tele's neck. Been playing it all day, and loving every second of it.

any issues with fretting out?
Lathspell
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Not too bad, but I was getting a little more fret buzz than I wanted on the lower strings. Just need a little more relief in the neck. The fretwork itself is perfectly fine.

Now, I just need a Fiesta Red strat with a maple neck, and will have my red, white, and blue strats! I figure others on here have so many PRS guitars, i'll be the Fender guy!

Has anyone here ever had a guitar PLEKed? I'm wondering if it's worth the cost.
Lathspell

I have not. I've seen things about it.

From my point of view, if it plays great, then it's fine. I don't need my guitar to be perfect. Heck, I enjoy working on my guitars.
