This purple one tripped me out. I thought the knobs had a problem for a minute, but they're just oriented differently in terms of function than the Tremonti. The Tremonti volume and tone are paired up by rows whereas the Singlecut are paired up by columns.

I decided to try the EMG X Series pickups in my LP. I'm familiar with the regular EMGs but had not heard the X Series. The EMG X series are advertised as being the answer to the "compressed/no headroom" issue that some people feel exists with the original EMG line. I've read they're similar to the results you get by running regular EMGs at 18 volts. Apparently they have a different internal preamp.

The 89X/89XR pickups showed up a day early, so I got them installed last night. Initial impressions are good. The difference between regular and split volumes is almost non-existent, which is a good thing. Humbucker position sounds more PAF like to me than the original 89 line.

One thing I'd never noticed on EMGs- even though they're an American product, they have Metric pots. So Gibson knobs won't work. Thank goodness for Amazon.

Nice! Didn't know they made shiny EMG's!

Love the gold tops. Always classy

And I'll second that I had no idea they had anything other than the flat black EMGs. Those look great.

I was thinking the white EMG's on David Gilmour's guitar.

These are active right? Was the lester already routed out for a battery compartment?

Active yes. No battery compartment. You just cram the battery into the control cavity.

Man... i've really wanted one of these, and been looking for a used one. My only concern is the neck thickness. I wish I had the chance to play one to see if I like the neck.

I'd hate to spend that kind of money and not like the neck.

I see C shaped neck and it always make me think it's one of those big chunky necks.

I wonder if he'd caliper it for you?

He can't. All he could do is say what other sites show for the model. However, It looks like his pictures show a slightly thinner neck. Not something I want to gamble with for that amount of money.

Besides, I just bought my 335 a few weeks ago, and still loving it. I just really want that specific model of Paoletti guitar.

I've been down a rabbit hole for YouTube videos on the Silver Sky the last two days.

There are so many good guitars out there. I can see how people end up with 20 guitars or more.

I played a used Ibanez at GC earlier. $1300 for a used Ibanez!

Pretty sparkly paint job but the color was salmon. Man that color just isn't my first choice.

They didn't have a lot of detail on it and it's not on their website yet, but it's one of their upper level models according to the young man that was trying to sell it to me.

The neck was roasted maple or something along those lines. Bolt on and no fingerboard, just all a big piece of maple that's been heated and cooled a bunch.

Stainless frets.

Two point tremolo.

Seymour Duncan HSS configuration for pickups.

Five-way pickup selector.

Switch to split coils.

It felt good and sounded good acoustically and plugged in. But $1300 for a used salmon guitar. I don't know about that.

Swapped out the speed knobs for the lamp shades. Getting the speed knobs off was a pain in the ass. Had to use vice grips to get the last of the four off as I couldn't get the shoe lace underneath it. I have a Tremonti bridge pickup coming tomorrow to install. Wasn't a big fan of the #7 bridge. The #7 neck is solid though.

You need one of these! I saw them on a Rhett Shull video where he was at Dave Onorato's shop having his Strat set up.

That's a cool little gadget. I'm not sure it would work with the PRS though. The dimples around the knobs might get in the way. That's what gave so much trouble getting underneath them.

The pickup swap will be going down shortly. Everything showed up within five minutes of each other.

I sure like those lampshade knobs. But I'm po' so I settle for knurled speed knobs

Few things are as big a pain in the ass as getting a pickup into a pickup ring.

Between my carvin, n4, and acoustics I tell myself "that's enough natural wood looking guitars" but damn I've been smitten with the Paoletti wine series for a while.

Ever played one?

I have not. That's the main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the one posted on Reverb.
