Remember Michael Jordan to the Max? Another great Jordan doc, also with a ton of footage from his final season with the Bulls. The use of the score from Legends of the Fall in this trailer gives me chills every time...
Agreed, if i needed to win a game or have someone take the last shot, I'd take Kobe 7 days a week over LBJ.redline248 said:
Kobe is probably halfway between the 2 if not a little closer to MJ
100% agree.Liquid Wrench said:

Who?
I'm sure the Bulls would have had a hard time stopping David Robinson's incredible 15 PPG average that season.MGS said:MuckRaker96 said:
99 Bulls only having to play a 50 game regular season would have run over the Spurs in the Finals. Over-the-hill Mario Elie vs. Jordan? Sean Elliott trying to guard PIppen when he plays point forward? And veteran Rodman vs. rookie Tim Duncan would have been really interesting. Ducan was a great rookie and became an all-time great, but Rodman knew every trick in the book on how to disrupt a big guy.
The real matchup that would have decided that series would have been the Will Perdue vs. Bill Wenngton.
If the Spurs were so weak, how did they go 15-2 in the '99 playoffs?
By the way, Duncan's rookie year was 97-98. You also seem to forget that the Spurs had David Robinson as their starting center.

I never said the Spurs were weak, I said the Bulls would have run them over. They went 15-2 in the post-season because they were the best team, and in era of ugly ball, they were awesome on defense and had Duncan - apologies on getting his rookie season wrong - and Robinson gracioulsy moving to the role of rebound/defense guy. All credit to them - they won the title! But in theory it is very difficult to imagine them beating the Jordan/Pippen/Kukoc/Rodman Bulls.

This is going to sound sappy as hell, but watching this series, during this time, feels so incredibly special. To the point where when I think back on the whole lockdown thing, this doc will be one of the rare positives - if not THE positive - that comes to mind. It's just so damn good, and makes me appreciate more than ever the fact that I got to witness all of this first hand as a kid/teenager in the '80s/'90s. I got to grow up wearing Air Jordans and being inspired by this guy. Nothing in modern times even compares to how incredibly iconic Jordan was, and the more I watch, the more Jordan feels like he was somehow conjured out of thin air to be this perfectly engineered figure of the times, one who impacted sports, culture, marketing, and design like no other figure I can think of, in just the right ways.
That, and he's funny/cool as hell in his modern-day interviews. He was starting to get a bad wrap after his Hall of Fame speech, then there was of course the crying meme, and then combined with the dominance of LeBron, it felt like Jordan had dropped a couple of pegs or like the world had soured on him a bit. But he's not only completely undone all of that in just four episodes of television, he's re-established his dominance like never before, while making his "assh*lesness" and his drive - along with his relentless pursuit to hold others to his standards - somehow almost endearing. Especially compared to most modern athletes, even the mega-stars, who now only serve to show how rare Jordan truly was. In other words, I somehow like and appreciate Jordan more now than I did even when I was a super-fan in real-time.
This whole thing really is remarkable.
Quote:
Henri Lorenzi, the legendary hotel manager, had complained about the number and the aggressiveness of the NBA's security people. "Do you realize who is gambling in my casino right now?" Lorenzi said to the NBA's international liaison, Kim Bohuny. Lorenzi ticked off the names of politicians, movie stars and even tennis immortal Bjrn Borg. "No one will care that much about this team," he said.
"Well, we'll see," replied Bohuny.
When the team bus pulled up, there was such a rush of fans to see the players that some fans crashed through the glass doors at the entrance. "I get your point," said Lorenzi.

I think Lebron is the most skilled player of all time. If I was building a team for a pick up game or an all star team where the results didn't matter, I'd pick Lebron first. I if I was building a franchise, Jordan is my #1.

His hall of fame speech was one of the most pompous self promoting Monologues I've ever heard. I felt sorry for his children. I don't care how great of a ball player he was, he's a pos and Terrible father.
How was he a terrible father? I'm ignorant of this.Fedup said:

agree 100%. Too many times Bron was not invloved in a big game or just disappeared. You can't say that about MJ or even Kobe for that matter.Junkhead said:Bruce Almighty said:

If LeBron had the killer mentality like Jordan (and even Jordan Lite aka Kobe) had he'd easily be the GOAT. But he doesn't and that's a fact.
i would say kobe over lebron, but surprisingly lebron as better stats for end of game situations.BigHitterDaLama said:agree 100%. Too many times Bron was not invloved in a big game or just disappeared. You can't say that about MJ or even Kobe for that matter.Junkhead said:Bruce Almighty said:

i agree. I am bias to Jordan, but Lebron has accomplished so much and been a model citizen with decades of hype around him. Both sides have valid agruments.M.C. Swag said:
I still think Lebron James is the single most talented NBA player ever. Whether he's "the GOAT'? I won't argue against Jordan. I just can't fathom any other person being put on the cover of Sports Illustrated at the age of 16 with the caption "CHOSEN ONE" and not only live up to that expectation, but exceed it. In the era of non stop social media coverage and hot takes, Lebron ascended to the point that it's actually worth debating his status as the GOAT.
