We just binged through episode 6, and I would imagine many of you have already jumped out. Through the first five episodes, I would've said that the "Lloyd" character was perhaps one of the worst casting decisions I have seen. Then, TrashcanMan came through strong last night.

I started this, after Ep 1 I find it OK other than the awful time jumping. What an awful decision. Curious how my wife will view the series given she has zero exposure to the book or original miniseries. Maybe that demographic will enjoy it more.

One of my favorite books.

Had hope through EP1, thought EP2 was rather boring. EP3 I could barely finish. I'm out.

The time jumping was a horrible decision in episode one and it really made no sense. The flashbacks shouldn't have started until more of them were in Boulder.

At Ep7 or so, and it's better IMO. Probably because the time jumping has lessened. Most of my problems involve the lack of details/story compared to the novel. But really, 30 episodes are probably needed to do it justice. The fall of Nadine, Nick and Tom's relationship, Larry evolving all just seem like a blur. Even the old miniseries seemed to capture some of these aspects better.

I think it's casted reasonably well. Well, not Trashcan Man. Whoopi looks about 30 years too young. Lloyd and Nick seemed wrong initially, but they're OK. I don't like Ralph Brentner changing from a laid back farmer into an angry native american woman. Like Larry now being black (which works fine and doesn't affect anything), an obvious change for the PC crowd. Think that will stick out even more once they start the walk.

I'm just looking for this to be done at this point. Last night may have been an improvement on the previous mini-series, but it still felt really messy. I was hoping it would all be over last night but it looks like we have one more episode. Didn't King say he wrote a new ending for this series?

At this point, I think the acting/casting has been the biggest downfall of this series. It was going to be hard as there would always be comparisons drawn between this and the previous installment. That being said, this cast has not lived up to the bar previously set, with the possible exceptions of the guys playing Harold and Larry Underwood.

Just seems bad when a 90's miniseries has significantly better pacing.

I liked it. The last bit with Frankie was super tense.

Finally catching up on this mini-series and it was complete and total garbage. The 1994 series was way better.

Lloyd was in sore need of a pistol whipping for most of his scenes.

The lack of trashcan man's backstory was a big miss.

Larry being black was unnecessary, but I liked the actor.

I was rooting for Fran to die. Really was a worthless character.

Rat woman was eye rolling. However it is cool the actress is Brad dourif's daughter.

James Marsden was a very safe choice for Stu. He didn't screw the portrayal up but he was pretty vanilla.

Flagg was lame lame lame.

Ironically, Whoopi Goldberg was not the worst casting decision as I previously posted. She had some cringey lines but her minimal screen time kept her from making the series worse (if that is possible).

There was also definitely a diversity narrative being pushed. Multicultural free zone vs overwhelmingly white bad guys in new Vegas.

Overall, just a terrible effort.

I have an edit of this series that takes out all the unnecessary time jumps and creates a much more watchable story. It won't change the character issues you all have but it does make for a much better telling of the tale.

M O O N that spells Bump.

I finally got around to watching this series on Prime Video. I didn't hate it but the storyline just felt so sporadic.

For example, we barely see Tom after he flees Las Vegas. Tom finds Stu and then we don't see them again until they show up in the Boulder Free Zone. Did Tom taking care of Stu wind up on the cutting room floor? Was it even filmed?

Also the last episode felt like such a waste of screen time that could have been used for the main storyline.

Well the good news is I have wiped out most everything out of my mind about this take on The Stand.

Yeah, I reread this thread after the bump and realized I didn't remember a single thing about this version. I never finished it though.

That's quite the accomplishment. I loved this book in high school.

Piling onto this bump just to say this was such an (expected) disappointment.

I had good vibes at the end of the first episode when The Stranger needle drop hit. But it was all downhill from there.
