I think Pat summed it up pretty well. Could just be the ad cut and not the actual movie but it had a very CSI Miami feel with the one liners that all could have had a sunglasses removal and Who guitar riff following them.

I definitely thought the end was a bit too cheesy with Ford crying. But other than that, nothing else felt out of place to me in terms of one-liners, tone, etc. Thought the dialogue was pretty good, actually. Do we really want another deathly serious racing movie? Is that what some of you are getting at? Or no? Seems to me this is just the right approach.

Ben Collins (The Stig) is listed as one of the stunt drivers. It looks like the special effects team are the only crew members that did previous "car movies" (Baby Driver and Need for Speed).

I always like looking at the earlier films listed on peoples bios to see what was the goofiest film they worked on. The Director of Photography did Biodome and Cool Runnings. He also did a Corey Haim film called "Prayer of the Rollerboys". The composer worked on Fortnite

I want a subplot about chili making and a post credit scene were iacocca shows up at his place with a Plymouth horizon and someone says "make this thing go like hell"

Personally, I didnt know about it before this thread and then saw the ad during the finals. I think the combo of bale, damon, and one of the coolest cars of all time, and it being a true story with so many well known auto industry figures makes it an intriguing film. But I also feel like shows like top gear/grand tour have done mini "docs" about this to the point that I think many here were hoping for a serious take on it as opposed to something like a guy Ritchie movie or an oceans 11 where the jump cuts and funny dialogue make the movie. I also, again, dont really think there is enough to worry about judging the movie yet and come November (unless reviews suck) the combo above of bale, damon, legendary car and legendary people will still drive attendance.
I also think (as a guy who doesnt go to the movies as much as most of this thread) that this looks like the kind of movie better seen on the big screen.

Definitely want to see this because the Ford GT has been one of my favorite supercars ever.

I will say that Gimme Shelter probably needs to be retired from use in movie trailers.
TCTTS

THAT I definitely agree with. It "works" for this trailer, but why not aim for something more original?

Car movies almost always suck. I am very hopeful for this one though.
If they cgi anything or have lame drivers doing stunts i will vomit.

Did they put Christian Bale in his Dick Cheney make-up for the final clip?

Using Gimme Shelter is also odd since it did not come out until '69 when this movie is set in '65-'66.

Half of this movie could be them starting up the 427, revving the engine, and doing full throttle drive-bys and the audience would still be entertained. One of the best engine sounds, up there with the Merlin engines in the P-51.

agreed with this. could have at least used Paint It Black for era correct even though it's overused as well.

They should've embraced the anachronism and gone with Start Me Up.

put me in the camp that thought the trailer style was odd. Doesn't matter for me though...they've got my money. Can't wait for this one.

Hard to describe, except that I was expecting a more serious and dramatic tone from the film.

Second half of the trailer almost took on a heist movie vibe.

it almost feels weird that i'm not in the cynical group for this one.

Mixed bag with the director (James Mangold)
Logan & Walk the Line were good, 3:10 to Yuma had that idiotic ending that ruined what to that point had been a good western.

Didn't ruin the movie for me.

French version of the trailer. Basically an extended version of the domestic one, with a bit more footage...

Because they had to edit out all of the right turns for American audiences.

I saw them at the Indy 500 as our seats are close to the start/finish line. They were having a blast and were finally asked to leave nearly 40 laps in.

Out of curiosity, why the different trailers? Is it just because the spot during the game was limited in time, and they felt it was worth it to put it in front of millions of viewers?
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The spot during the game was actually even shorter than the version released online yesterday (it didn't have the opening bit with Bale's character and his son). The online version yesterday was the standard trailer length. As for this newest French version, honestly, I've never quite understood why they offer a slightly different cut for foreign audiences. I understand when it's a totally different trailer - as certain foreign audiences react differently to different themes/characters/tropes/etc. - but no idea why this French cut is basically just a longer version of the domestic.

Interesting, I didn't realize the online one was different from the one in game(which is the one I saw)

They had to remove the one-liner about going to war to avoid scaring away the French
