I definitely thought the end was a bit too cheesy with Ford crying. But other than that, nothing else felt out of place to me in terms of one-liners, tone, etc. Thought the dialogue was pretty good, actually. Do we really want another deathly serious racing movie? Is that what some of you are getting at? Or no? Seems to me this is just the right approach.
Personally, I didnt know about it before this thread and then saw the ad during the finals. I think the combo of bale, damon, and one of the coolest cars of all time, and it being a true story with so many well known auto industry figures makes it an intriguing film. But I also feel like shows like top gear/grand tour have done mini "docs" about this to the point that I think many here were hoping for a serious take on it as opposed to something like a guy Ritchie movie or an oceans 11 where the jump cuts and funny dialogue make the movie. I also, again, dont really think there is enough to worry about judging the movie yet and come November (unless reviews suck) the combo above of bale, damon, legendary car and legendary people will still drive attendance.
I also think (as a guy who doesnt go to the movies as much as most of this thread) that this looks like the kind of movie better seen on the big screen.
